Abstract
An Fe-based catalyst was prepared by oxidising waste Fe shavings directly in a solution. In engineering applications, Fe shavings were compressed and modified to form Fe-based monolithic catalyst packing. Both of which exhibited excellent catalytic activity in catalytic ozonation industrial wastewater after biochemical treatment. Fe-based monolithic catalyst packing has irregular channels, large porosity, small pore diameter, and the effective specific surface area (SSA) up to 3500 m2/m3, these characteristics are conducive to mass transfer, and promote the effective utilisation of •OH in the catalyst "action zone". A tower reactor (<3000 m3/d) and reinforced concrete construction reactor (>5000 m3/d) were designed according to the wastewater flow. Regression analysis showed that hydraulic residence time (HRT) and O3/CODin are important parameters in engineering design and operation. In addition, strategies for the application of Fe-based monolithic catalyst packing to wastewater with high salinity and high inorganic carbon concentration have been proposed. Fe-based monolithic catalyst packing catalytic ozonation is a relatively cost-effective and eco-friendly process with extremely broad application prospects in the advanced treatment of industrial wastewater.

Abstract
Membrane technology has been widely used to treat wastewater from a variety of industries, but it also results in a large amount of concentrated wastewater containing organic pollutants after membrane treatment, which is challenging to decompose. Here in this work, a series of perovskite SrFexZr1-xO3-δ catalysts were prepared via a modified co-precipitation method and evaluated for catalytic ozone oxidative degradation of m-cresol. An artificial neural intelligence networks (ANN) model was employed to train the experimental data to optimize the preparation parameters of catalysts, with SrFe0.13Zr0.87O3-δ being the optimal catalysts. The resultant catalysts before and after reduction were then thoroughly characterized and tested for m-cresol degradation. It was found that the co-doping of Fe and Zr at the B-site and the improvement of oxygen vacancies and oxygen active species by reduction dramatically increased TOC removal rates up to 5 times compared with ozone alone, with the conversion rate of m-cresol reaching 100%. We also proposed a possible mechanism for m-cresol degradation via investigating the intermediates using GC-MS, and confirmed the good versatility of the reduced SrFe0.13Zr0.87O3-δ catalyst to remove other common organic pollutants in concentrated wastewater. This work demonstrates new prospects for the use of perovskite materials in wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Industrial wastewater contains a mixture of refractory and hazardous pollutants that have comprehensive toxic effects. We investigated the treatment of a long-chain industrial wastewater treatment train containing Fenton, biological anoxic/oxic (AO), and heterogeneous ozone catalytic oxidation (HOCO) processes, and evaluated their detoxification effect based on the analysis of the genic toxicity of some key contaminants. The results showed that although the effluent met the discharge standard in terms of traditional quality parameters, the long-chain treatment process could not effectively detoxify the industrial wastewater. The analysis results of summer samples showed that the Fenton process increased the total toxicity and genotoxicity of the organics, concerned metals, and non-volatile pollutants, whereas the A/O process increased the toxicity of the organics and non-volatile pollutants, and the HOCO process led to higher toxicity caused by metals and non-volatile pollutants. The outputs of the winter samples indicated that the Fenton process reduced the total toxicity and genotoxicity caused by non-volatile pollutants but increased that of the organics and concerned metals. The effect of the A/O process on the effluent toxicity in winter was the same as that in summer, whereas the HOCO process increased the total toxicity and genotoxicity of the metals in winter samples. Correlation analysis showed that various toxicity stresses were significantly correlated with the variation of these key pollutants in wastewater. Our results could provide a reference for the optimization of industrial wastewater treatment plants (IWTPs) by selecting more suitable treatment procedures to reduce the toxicity of different contaminants.
