Abstract
Pollution from harmful heavy metal ions such as Pb(II) and Cu(II) is causing serious environmental and health problems. In this study, Sodium and nitrogen co-doped porous carbon material (Na/NABc) was successfully prepared from seaweed, sodium hydroxide, and dicyandiamide. The experimental results showed that Na/NABc is an excellent adsorbent for the effective removal of Pb(II) and Cu(II) from water bodies. Specifically, 99.8% of Pb(II) and 64.6% Cu(II) (100 mg/L) were removed within 12 h using 10 mg Na/NABc(10%) at 25 °C. The adsorption of Pb(II) and Cu(II) in aqueous solution by Na/NABc(10%) was efficient and rapid in the first stage. The theoretical maximum removal capacities of Na/NABc for Pb(II) and Cu(II) were 959.6 and 299.1 mg/g, respectively. Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions were adsorbed quickly in the first 60 min, and the kinetics data were generally consistent with a pseudo-second-order model. Na/NABc(10%) had a large distribution coefficient for Pb(II) (8.38 L/mg) and Cu(II) (1.17 L/mg). The possible mechanisms were precipitation, Ion exchange, and surface complexation. The removal rate can reach about 70% after five cycles, and the release of sodium meets the standard. The results of this study demonstrate the potential applicability of Na/NABc(10%) for adsorption of heavy metals from aqueous solution.

Abstract
This study utilized a 1% chitosan solution (dissolved in 2% acetic acid), with a chitosan-to-zeolite mass ratio of 0.005, to successfully prepare chitosan-loaded natural zeolite. The performance of chitosan-modified natural zeolite in the removal of low-concentration cadmium ions in the presence of micropollutants was investigated. The adsorbent was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) techniques. The impact of modified adsorbent dosage, pH value, contact time, temperature, and initial concentration on adsorption performance was discussed. Additionally, the adsorption kinetics, isotherms, and thermodynamics of cadmium on chitosan-modified zeolites were analyzed. The results indicated that the modified zeolite exhibited a dispersed and porous structure with increased surface area, average pore size, and total pore volume. Under the conditions of 25 °C, pH 6, a dosage of 8 g/L, and a 60 min adsorption reaction time, chitosan-loaded natural zeolite (CNZ) achieved a removal efficiency of over 94.51% for a 100 μg/L cadmium solution (in a 100 mL volume). The adsorption process followed the Langmuir model, suggesting monolayer adsorption. The adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order equation, indicating an exothermic process with an increase in entropy. Chitosan-loaded natural zeolite demonstrated improved adsorption capacity and effectively removed cadmium from water contaminated with micropollutants.

Abstract
The pollution of heavy metal ions in water seriously affects the ecosystem and human health. Here, an efficient synergetic photocatalytic-photothermal system is designed by combining a mildly oxidized Ti3C2 (mo-Ti3C2) with a super hydrophilic bamboo fiber (BF) membrane. The mo-Ti3C2 heterojunction promotes the transfer and separation of photoinduced charges and thus enhances the photocatalytic reduction of heavy metal ions (Co2+, Pb2+, Zn2+, Mn2+ and Cu2+). The photoreduced metal nanoparticles with high conductivity and LSPR effect further accelerate the transfer and separation of photoinduced charges, and improve photothermal and evaporative performance. The mo-Ti3C2-2.4 @BF membrane in Co(NO3)2 solution can achieve an excellent evaporation rate of 4.6 kg·m-2·h-1 and a high solar-vapor efficiency of up to 97.5% under the light intensity of 2.44 kW·m-2, which are 27.8% and 19.6% higher than those in H2O, respectively, demonstrating the reuse of photoreduced Co nanoparticles. No heavy metal ions are detected in any of the condensed water, and the Co2+ removal rate in the concentrated Co(NO3)2 solution is up to 80.4%. The synergetic photocatalytic-photothermal approach on the mo-Ti3C2 @BF membrane provides a new scope for the continuous removal and reuse of heavy metal ions, as well as for obtaining clean water.

Abstract
The demand to improve the chlorine resistance of polyamide (PA) membranes is escalated with greater amounts of chlorine-containing disinfectant being used in global water treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this work, we designed thiophene-functionalized poly(ethyleneimine) (TPEI) materials first and grafted them onto a conventional PA membrane to develop novel nanofiltration membranes (PEI-M, TPEI-1-M, TPEI-2-M). These membranes have dual-functionalized selective surfaces covered by hydrophilic amino groups and electron-rich thiophene moieties, which endow these membranes with superior chlorine resistance and improved separation performance. The modified membranes increase the rejection of MgCl2 from 86.5% of the nascent PA membrane (PA-M) to higher than 93.0% without sacrificing the membrane water permeability. More stable separation performance is achieved with all of the as-prepared membranes than PA-M after exposure to a 2000 ppm sodium hypochlorite solution. TPEI-2-M outperforms other membranes after being treated in a chlorination intensity of 16,000 ppm·h with the smallest flux loss and the highest MgCl2 rejection. This is mainly ascribed to the highest amount of amino and thiophene moieties on the TPEI-2-M surface. This study provides an effective protocol for developing novel PA-based nanofiltration membranes while demonstrating its superiority over current technologies with exceptional separation performance and antichlorine ability.

Abstract
Facile techniques to fabricate the nanofiltration membranes with ideal molecular sieving is one of the most interesting subjects in membrane separation technology. In this study, the application of modified graphene oxide (GO) with triethylenetetramine (TETA), CuFe2 O4 , and acetic acid (AC) (supported GO-TETA-CuFe2 O4 @AC) as a supported protic ionic liquid (PIL) modifier for polyethersulfone (PES) membrane was evaluated to approve the improvement of anti-fouling properties and wastewater rejection of the fabricated membranes. To enhance the key properties of graphene oxide, it was modified by hydrophilic nanomaterials (TETA-CuFe2 O4 ). High flux and promising flux recovery ratio (up to 95% compared to the unmodified membrane) can be observed in the modified membranes. The modified membranes by GO-TETA-CuFe2 O4 @AC were studied at optimum concentrations (0.5 wt.%) for salt rejection and different dyes. The obtained data indicated that the modified membranes by GO-TETA-CuFe2 O4 @AC indicated higher salt removal (up to 97% for BaCl2 than the unmodified membrane), which was related to the efficient modification. The obtained pure water flux (PWF) for bare and optimal modified membrane from 13.11 to 27.87 kg/m2 ·h, respectively. To exact evaluate the effect of membrane modification on performance examination, the modified membranes were evaluated for chlorine resistance testing. This study aimed to develop cost-effective nanofiltration (NF) membranes with high anti-fouling properties and to determine the maximum filtration capacity of in-time dyes and salts in effluents. PRACTITIONER POINTS: A GO-TETA-CuFe2O4 mixed matrix membrane was prepared for removal of salts and dyes. The effect of GO-TETA-CuFe2O4 enhanced the hydrophilicity and porosity. The membrane exhibited superior antifouling properties and ions rejection.

Abstract
In this paper, nitric acid-modified activated carbon was used as an electrode in the electrosorption process for the removal of Co2+, Mn2+, and Ni2+ from wastewater. The effects of applied voltage, initial pH, and coexisting ions on removal efficiency were investigated. The adsorption process was evaluated by adsorption isotherm models. The results indicated that the electrosorption process was consistent with the Langmuir model, proving that the electrosorption process was a monolayer adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacities of Co2+, Mn2+, and Ni2+ were 131.58 mg/g, 102.04 mg/g, and 103.09 mg/g. Electrochemical tests revealed that the specific capacitance of AC-HNO3 was 54.11 F/g when the scanning rate was 5 mV/s, while the specific capacitance of AC was 36.51 F/g. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed that the content of oxygen groups on the surface of activated carbon increased after modification, which provided more adsorption sites for electrosorption. When the selected concentration of HCl was used as the eluent, the elution efficiency of Co2+, Mn2+, and Ni2+ could reach 94.23%, 93.65%, and 90.61%. The removal efficiency could reach more than 95% after three cycles. The results of the study can be used as a reference significance for the removal of cobalt, manganese, and nickel ions from heavy metal wastewater by electrosorption.
