Abstract
Photocatalytic peroxymonosulfate (PMS) oxidation systems demonstrate significant potential and promising prospects through the interconnection of photocatalytic and PMS oxidation for simultaneously achieving efficient pollutant removal and reduction of PMS dosage, which prevents resource wastage and secondary pollution. In this study, a Z-scheme Bi25FeO40/BiOCl (BOFC) heterojunction was constructed to carry out the photocatalytic PMS oxidation process for tetracyclines (TCs) pollutants at low PMS concentrations (0.08 mM). The photocatalytic PMS oxidation rate of Bi25FeO40/BiOCl composites for tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH), chlortetracycline (CTC), oxytetracycline (OTC) and doxycycline (DXC) reaches 86.6%, 83.6%, 86.7%, and 88.0% within 120 min. Simultaneously, the BOFC/PMS system under visible light (Vis) equally displayed the practical application prospects for the solo and mixed simulated TCs antibiotics wastewater. Based on the electron spin resonance (ESR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) valence band spectrum, a Z-scheme electron migration pathway was proposed to elucidate the mechanism underlying the performance enhancement of BOFC composites. Bi25FeO40 in BOFC composites can serve as active site for activating PMS by the formation of Fe3+/Fe2+ cycle. Toxicity estimation software tool (T.E.S.T.) and mung beans planting experiment demonstrates that BOFC/PMS/Vis system can reduce toxicity of TCs wastewater. Therefore, BOFC/PMS/Vis system achieves efficient examination in different water environments and efficient utilization of PMS, which displays a scientific reference for achieving environmentally-friendly and resource-saving handling processes.

Abstract
In the work, Bi2WO6/C-TiO2 photocatalyst was successfully synthesized for the first time by loading narrow bandgap semiconductor Bi2WO6 on MOF-derived carboxyl modified TiO2. The phase structure, morphology, photoelectric properties, surface chemical states and photocatalytic performance of the prepared photocatalysts were systematically investigated using various characterization tools. The degradation efficiency of oxytetracycline by 6BT Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst under visible light could reach 93.6 % within 100 min, which was related to the high light harvesting and effective separation and transfer of photo-generated carriers. Furthermore, the effects of various environmental factors in actual wastewater were further investigated, and the results showed that 6BT exhibited good adaptability, durability and resistance to interference. Unlike most works, the degradation system with a different single active species were designed and constructed based on their formation mechanism. In addition, for the first time, a positive study was conducted on the priority attack sites, intermediate products, and degradation pathways for the photocatalytic degradation of oxytetracycline by a single active species through HPLC-MS and Fukui index calculations. The toxicity changes of intermediate products produced in three different single active species oxidation systems were evaluated using toxicity assessment software tools (T.E.S.T.), Escherichia coli growth experiments, and wheat growth experiments. Among them, the intermediate products formed through O2- oxidation had the lowest toxicity and the main active sites it attacked were the 20C, 38O, 18C, 41O, and 55O atoms with high f+ values in the oxytetracycline molecular structure. This work provided the insight into the role of each active species in the degradation of antibiotics and offered new ideas for the design and synthesis of efficient and eco-friendly photocatalysts.

Abstract
The present work is centred around the development of La2O3/(BiO)2CO3/Ag3PO4 (LBA), a p-n-p nano-heterojunction to photodegrade doxycycline under visible light irradiation. Here, ultrasonication assisted co-precipitation method was employed to synthesize the photocatalyst. The photocatalyst was characterized using different analysis such as SEM, TEM, elemental mapping, XRD, XPS, FTIR, Raman, BET, DRS, PL and EIS which confirmed the successful fabrication of LBA and their excellent ability to refrain the e-/h+ recombination owing to the construction of the heterojunction. LBA was found to degrade DOX by 91.75 % with the high mineralization of 87.23%. The impact of the reaction parameters influencing the photodegradation process including the concentration of the NCs and DOX, pH and the influence of the commonly present anions were studied. The stability and reusability of the LBA was assessed through subjecting it to four cycles of photodegradation of DOX. In addition, the recovered LBA was characterized through XPS and XRD analysis to confirm the particles stability and reusability. The active participation of the photogenerated charges and the reactive oxygen species were identified through the scavenging assay and ESR analysis. Further, GC-MS/MS analysis was performed to put forward a plausible photodegradation pathway. The toxicity of the end products as well as the intermediates was predicted through ECOSAR software.

Abstract
The threat of tetracycline (TC) to human health has become a significant issue that cannot be disregarded. Herein, in order to achieve effective degradation and high-sensitivity detection of TC, BiOBr/ZnFe2O4-GO (BOB/ZFO-GO) S-scheme heterojunction nanocomposites (NCs) have been prepared using hydrothermal method. GO with high light absorption capacity accelerated the electron transfer between BiOBr and ZnFe2O4 nanocrystals and extended the light absorption region of BOB/ZFO NCs. The optimal GO addition of BOB/ZFO-GO NCs could degrade TC solution of 10 mg/L in 80 min and have a high reaction rate constant (k) of 0.072 min-1 under visible/NIR light. According to calculations, the non-metal photocatalyst (BOB/ZFO-GO(2)) with the best degradation performance had a photothermal conversion efficiency of up to 23%. Meanwhile, BOB/ZFO-GO NCs could be recycled by magnetic field. The excellent photocatalytic and photothermal performance could be maintained even after several cycles. In addition, a photothermal detection sensor based on a photothermal material/specific recognition element/tetracycline sandwich-type structure was constructed for the trace detection of TC concentration with a detection limit as low as 10-4 ng/mL. This research provides a unique idea for the multi-functionalization of photocatalysts and has a wide range of potential applications for the identification and treatment of organic wastewater.

Abstract
In this work, the MnFe2O4/BGA (boron-doped graphene aerogel) composite prepared via the solvothermal method is applied as a photocatalyst to the degradation of tetracycline in the presence of peroxymonosulfate. The composite's phase composition, morphology, valence state of elements, defect and pore structure were analyzed by XRD, SEM/TEM, XPS, Raman scattering and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, respectively. Under the radiation of visible light, the experimental parameters, including the ratio of BGA to MnFe2O4, the dosages of MnFe2O4/BGA and PMS, and the initial pH and tetracycline concentration were optimized in line with the degradation of tetracycline. Under the optimized conditions, the degradation rate of tetracycline reached 92.15% within 60 min, whereas the degradation rate constant on MnFe2O4/BGA remained 4.1 × 10-2 min-1, which was 1.93 and 1.56 times of those on BGA and MnFe2O4, respectively. The largely enhanced photocatalytic activity of the MnFe2O4/BGA composite over MnFe2O4 and BGA could be ascribed to the formation of type I heterojunction on the interfaces of BGA and MnFe2O4, which leads to the efficient transfer and separation of photogenerated charge carriers. Transient photocurrent response and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests offered solid support to this assumption. In line with the active species trapping experiments, SO4•- and O2•- radicals are confirmed to play crucial roles in the rapid and efficient degradation of tetracycline, and accordingly, a photodegradation mechanism for the degradation of tetracycline on MnFe2O4/BGA is proposed.

Abstract
The sustainable management of toner waste (T-raw) was performed via carbonization at 500 °C (T-500) and 600 °C (T-600) to produce iron oxide-nanographene nanohybrid (FeO-NG) for activating persulfate (PS) to efficiently degrade dyes (methylene blue, MB), antibiotics (sulfamethazine, SMZ), and pesticides (diazinon, DZN). Morphology, crystallinity, chemical structure, chemical composition, surface area, and pore size distribution of the synthesized materials were investigated using various analyses. High degradation ratios of MB were attained over a wide pH range (2-7), and the optimum operating conditions were determined. The FeO-NG/PS system was tested in different water matrices. MB degradation efficiency dropped from 80.13% to 78.56% after five succeeding experiments, proving the high stability of T-500. Trapping experiments proved the major role of sulfate radicals and the minor contribution of singlet oxygen. The toxicity evaluation of the treated and untreated MB solutions was conducted via measuring the cell viability, showing an increase in cell viability ratio after the degradation of MB. The degradation efficiencies of DZN and SMZ were 97.54% and 83.7%, respectively and the mineralization ratios were 74.08% and 60.37% at initial concentrations of sulfamethazine and diazinon of 50 and 100 mg/L, respectively. The high degradation efficiency of emerging micropollutants as well as the inexpensiveness, and facile synthesis of the catalyst boost the prospect of applying the proposed system on an industrial scale.

Abstract
In this study, a floating FeMo3Ox/C3N4-EP (FM-C-P) composite with highly stability and reusability was synthesized by an impregnation/calcination process and used to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for oxytetracycline (OTC) degradation under visible light irradiation. The results demonstrated that 98.1% of OTC (50 mg/L) removal can be achieved by the activation of PMS (5 mM) using FM-C-P (1 g/L) in 30 min under visible light irradiation. The pseudo-first-order rate constant was calculated to be 0.181 min-1. The degradation process with PMS was hardly affected by pH (3-11) and co-existing substance. ·SO4-, ·OH, ·O2- and 1O2 were produced in the Vis/PMS/FM-C-P system and 1O2 was determined to be the main reactive oxygen species (ROSs). The high efficiency of ROSs production mainly contributed to two mechanisms. Firstly, via the combination of ≡Fe (II)-·SO5- and free state ·SO5-, 1O2 could be generated on the Fe-Nx site. Secondly, photo-induced electrons in the FeMo3Ox/g-C3N4 heterojunction could react with Fe (III) and Mo (VI) to form catalytically active species Fe (II) and Mo (IV). Moreover, the proposed degradation pathway and the toxicity of intermediated products was analyzed. Overall, this study was expected to deepen the understanding of the photo-assisted PMS activation and the generation of 1O2 with the presence of metal-oxide/C3N4 heterojunction.

Abstract
A 2D/2D BiOIO3/BiOBr Z-scheme heterostructure was firstly synthesized by a simple one-pot hydrothermal process and it was used to effectively remove rhodamine B under irradiation of Xe and LED light. The BB-15 heterostructure has an optimal apparent rate constant k of 0.046 min-1 (0.17 min-1), which is ∼6.2 (89.7) and 3.5 (3.5) times that of BiOIO3 and BiOBr under the irradiation of Xe light (LED light). The enhanced photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the following points: (1) the face-to-face and tight contact in 2D/2D BiOIO3/BiOBr heterostructures provides more migration channels for photogenerated carriers which facilitates the transfer and separation of photogenerated carriers; (2) the Z-scheme photocarrier transport path not only hastens the separation and transfer efficiency of photocarriers in space but also maintains a robust redox capacity; (3) the presence of IO3-/I- redox couple and built-in electric field further encourage the separation and transfer of photocarriers and enhance the photocatalytic activity of the composite. And the O2-, h+, and OH are active species, which are responsible for the photodegrade process of RhB under irradiation of Xe light. This study provided an easy and reliable strategy to design and prepare an efficient bismuth-containing heterojunction, the characterization and evaluation experiment results proved its effectiveness for solar utilization and environmental purification.

Abstract
Solid waste resource utilization and the treatment of wastewater are two important aspects in environmental protection. Here, biochar (BC) derived from municipal sewage sludge has been combined with ZnFe2O4 to form the photocatalyst ZnFe2O4/biochar (ZnFe/BC), and it was used to degrade sulfadiazine (SDZ) in the presence of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) under visible (Vis) light irradiation in an internal loop-airlift reactor (ALR). The surface morphology and structure of ZnFe/BC have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy equipped with an attachment for energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS). ZnFe/BC displays outstanding photocatalytic performance and reusability. After four reuse cycles of ZnFe/BC in the Vis/ZnFe/BC/PMS system, the SDZ degradation rate and efficiency still reached 0.082 min−1 and 99.05%, respectively. Reactive species in this system included free radicals SO4˙−, ˙OH, and ˙O2−, as well as non-radicals 1O2, e−, and h+, as established from the results of chemical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analyses. Moreover, a mechanism of action of the Vis/ZnFe/BC/PMS system for SDZ degradation was proposed. The acute toxicity of the reaction solution towards Photobacterium phosphoreum T3 spp. in the Vis/ZnFe/BC/PMS process increased during the first 40 min and then decreased, illustrating that Vis/ZnFe/BC/PMS provided an effective and safe method for the removal of SDZ. Solid waste resource utilization and the treatment of wastewater are two important aspects in environmental protection.![]()
