Abstract
This study aimed to assess the milk production data for New Zealand dairy goats in either a standard lactation (SL; ≤305 d in milk [DIM]) or extended lactation (EL; >305 and ≤670 DIM) using a random regression (RR) with third- and fifth-order Legendre polynomials, respectively. Persistency of EL was defined as (B/A) × 100, where A was the accumulated yield from d 1 to 305, and B was the accumulated yield from d 366 to 670. On average, goats in SL produced 1,183 kg of milk, 37 kg of fat, 37 kg of protein, and 54 kg of lactose. The average production of milk, fat, protein, and lactose in EL were 2,473 kg, 78 kg, 79 kg, and 112 kg, respectively. The average persistences for milk, fat, protein, and lactose yields during EL were 98%, 98%, 102%, and 96%, respectively. The relative prediction errors were close to 10% and the concordance correlation coefficients >0.92, indicating that the RR model with Legendre polynomials is adequate for modeling lactation curves for both SL and EL. Total yields and persistency were analyzed with a mixed model that included the fixed effects (year, month of kidding, parity, and proportion of Saanen) as covariates and the random effects of animal and residual errors. Effects of year, month of kidding, and parity were significant on the total yields of milk, fat, protein, and lactose for both SL and EL. The total milk yield of first-parity goats with SL was 946 kg and the total milk yield of second-parity goats with SL was 1,284 kg, making a total of 2,230 kg over 2 years. The total milk yield of a first-parity goat with EL was 2,140 kg. Thus, on average, a goat with SL for the first and second parity produced 90 kg more milk than a first-parity goat subjected to EL. However, a second-parity goat subjected to EL produced 43 kg more milk (2,639 kg) than a goat with SL following the second and third parity (1,284 kg + 1,312 kg). These data, along with the various other benefits of EL (e.g., fewer offspring born and reduced risk of mastitis, lameness, and metabolic problems in early lactation), indicate that EL as a management strategy holds the potential to improve dairy goat longevity and lifetime efficiency without compromising milk production.

Abstract
The research studied the effects of dietary supplementation with Camelina sativa fresh forage on the chemical and fatty acid composition of milk and Caciotta cheese, and its sensory properties. Twenty Ionica goats were randomly assigned to the following two groups (n = 10): the control received a traditional forage mixture (Avena sativa, 70%; Vicia sativa, 20%; Trifolium spp., 10%), while the experimental group was given Camelina sativa fresh forage (CAM). All of the dams grazed on pasture and received a commercial feed (500 g/head/day) at housing. The milk from the CAM group showed a higher (p < 0.05) content of dry matter, fat, lactose and concentrations of C6:0, C11:0, C14:0, C18:2 n-6, CLA and PUFA, while lower (p < 0.05) amounts of C12:0, C18:0 and saturated long chain FA (SLCFA). The Caciotta cheese from the CAM group showed a greater (p < 0.05) content of n-6 FA and n-6/n-3 ratio, although close to four, thus resulting adequate under the nutritional point of view. The overall liking, odour, taste, hardness, solubility and "goaty" flavour were better (p < 0.05) in the CAM cheeses. Further investigation would be advisable in order to evaluate the effect of feeding Camelina forage obtained from different phenological stages, and the application of ensiling techniques.

Abstract
Copy number variation (CNV) is a major type of genomic structural variation. We investigated their impacts on goat dairy traits using the CaprineSNP50 array. From 120 samples of five dairy goat breeds, we totally identified 42 CNVs ranging from 56,044 bp to 4,337,625 bp. We found significant associations between two CNVs (CNV5 and CNV25) and two milk production traits (mean of milk fat yield and mean of milk protein yield) after false discovery rate (FDR) correction (P < 0.05). CNV5 overlaps the ADAMTS20 gene, which is involved in the differentiation of mammary cell and plays a crucial role in lactogenic activity of bovine mammary epithelial cells. CNV25 overlaps with PAPPA2, which has been found to be associated with bovine reproduction and milk production traits. Our results revealed that CNVs overlapped with ADAMTS20 and PAPPA2 could be involved in goat dairy traits and function as candidate markers for further genetic selection.

Abstract
The data of 22,630 fortnightly test day milk yield of 2,263 Sirohi does at different lactations were used and subjected to least square analysis to study the effect of various non-genetic factors like cluster, periods of kidding, season of kidding, parity, type of birth and regression of dam’s weight. The overall least-squares means of different individual fortnightly test day milk yields increase from 0.820±0.04 kg on TD1 (15th day of lactation) to a peak yield of 1.070±0.06 kg on TD2 (30th day of lactation) and subsequently declined to 0.348±0.01 kg on TD10 (150th day of lactation). Cluster and period wise variation were highly significant on all stages of fortnightly test day milk yields. The significantly higher test day milk yield were observed in winter kidded does as compared to summer and rainy kidded, it could be milk climatic conditions. The parity had statistically highly significant effect on fortnightly test day milk yields, in which seemed that milk yields increase as parity increase, thereafter declined slowly. The effect of type of kidding was non-significant on overall fortnightly test day milk yield under this study. The regression of dam’s weight at kidding was positive and highly significant (P≤ 0.01) on all fortnightly test day milk yield. In order to increase goat milk production, goat keepers need to be focused on nutritional and others environmental conditions as it affect their flock.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for lactation yields of milk (MY), fat (FY), protein (PY), and somatic cell score (SCS) of New Zealand dairy goats. The analysis used 64,604 lactation records from 23,583 does, kidding between 2004 and 2017, distributed in 21 flocks and representing 915 bucks. Estimates of genetic and residual (co) variances, heritabilities, and repeatabilities were obtained using a multiple-trait repeatability animal model. The model included the fixed effects of contemporary group (does kidding in the same flock and year), age of the doe (in years), and as covariates, kidding day, proportion of Alpine, Nubian, Toggenburg, and "unknown" breeds (Saanen was used as the base breed), and heterosis. Random effects included additive animal genetic and doe permanent environmental effects. Estimates of heritabilities were 0.25 for MY, 0.24 for FY, 0.24 for PY, and 0.21 for SCS. The phenotypic correlations between MY, FY, and PY ranged from 0.90 to 0.96, and the genetic correlations ranged from 0.81 to 0.93. These results indicate lactation yield traits exhibit useful heritable variation and that multiple trait selection for these traits could improve milk revenue produced from successive generations of New Zealand dairy goats.

Abstract
The heritability for milk yield traits were moderate to high. The repeatability estimates were moderate to high for milk yield traits. The genetic trends for milk yield traits were positive. Phenotypic trends for MY90, MY140 and TMY were positive.
The Jamunapari goats are reared as dairy animals in semi-arid conditions, therefore it is necessary to evaluate the genetic potential for the genetic improvement of milk production traits. The data comprised of 2217 phenotypic records for milk yield at 90 days (MY90) and 140 days (MY140), total milk yield (TMY) and lactation length (LL) obtained from the progeny of 173 sires and 446 dams during the period 1990–2013. The data were analysed using mixed linear models exploring random effects due to direct additive, maternal and permanent environment variance due to animal. The most appropriate genetic models for milk yield traits were those that included permanent environment effects due to the animal. The direct additive heritability estimates were 0.15 ± 0.05, 0.26 ± 0.07, 0.25 ± 0.08 for MY90, MY140 and TMY, respectively. The additive heritability estimate for LL was low and non-significant at 0.02 ± 0.03. The repeatability estimates were moderate to high ranging from 0.68 to 0.73 for milk yield traits. The repeatability for lactation length was 0.20 ± 0.03. Maternal variances were low ranging from 0.03 for MY90 to 0.13 for TMY. There was an increase in mean milk yield of 0.25, 0.70 and 0.72 kg/year respectively at 90 and 140 days, and for TMY. Genetic trends and phenotypic trends for MY90, MY140 and TMY were positive and indicated significant improvement in milk traits due to selective breeding.
