Abstract
Nonylphenol (NP) is an important fine chemical raw material and intermediate that is widely utilized in industry and may be distributed in aquatic ecosystems. Following its entry into the food and water cycles, it can subsequently enter the human body and potentially harm the human reproductive system. For the purpose of monitoring NP in water, it is thus essential to build a straightforward, affordable, and robust electrochemical sensor. Based on a two-step chemical modification proceeding and an electrostatic self-assembly effect, a double-modified β-cyclodextrin functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube sensor (HE-β-CD-CTAC/F-MWCNTs) has been successfully constructed. It incorporates the excellent host-guest interaction ability of β-cyclodextrin and the high chemical activity of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC), and the carbon nanotubes have an enormous particular surface area and strong electrical conductivity. The electrochemical oxidation reaction of NP with the sensor is controlled by a surface adsorption process of equal numbers of protons and electrons. In accordance with the optimized experimental parameters, the limit of detection (LOD) for the sensor is 0.13 μM, and it responds linearly to NP in the concentration range of 1-200 μM. Meanwhile, the sensor has excellent repeatability, stability, and immunity to interference. For the detection of NP in real water samples, the sensor also showed an excellent recovery rate (92.8%-98.5%) and relative standard deviation (1.16%-3.26%).

Abstract
:
N,Nʹ-dialkylimidazolium-ion liquids is one of the important ionic liquids with a wide range of application as
conductive electrolyte and in electrochemistry. The modified electrodes create a new view in fabrication of
electroanalytical sensors. Many modifiers have beeen suggested for modification of electroanalytical sensor since many
years ago. Over these years, ionic liquids and especially room temperature ionic liquids have attracted more attention due
to their wide range of electrochemical windows and high electrical conductivity. N,Nʹ-dialkylimidazolium-ion liquids are
one of the main important ionic liquids suggested for modification of bare electrodes and especially carbon paste
electrodes. Although many review articles have reported onthe use of ionic liquids in electrochemical sensors, no review
article has been specifically introduced so far on the review of the advantages of N,Nʹ-dialkylimidazolium ionic liquid.
Therefore, in this review paper we focused on the introduction of recent advantages of N,Nʹ-dialkyl imidazolium ionic
liquid in electrochemistry.

Anisotropic Photoluminescence of Poly(3-hexyl thiophene) and Their Composites with Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Highly Separated in Metallic and Semiconducting Tubes. Molecules 2021; 26:E294. Abstract
In this work, the effect of the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as the mixtures of metallic and semiconducting tubes (M + S-SWNTs) as well as highly separated semiconducting (S-SWNTs) and metallic (M-SWNTs) tubes on the photoluminescence (PL) of poly(3-hexyl thiophene) (P3HT) was reported. Two methods were used to prepare such composites, that is, the chemical interaction of the two constituents and the electrochemical polymerization of the 3-hexyl thiophene onto the rough Au supports modified with carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The measurements of the anisotropic PL of these composites have highlighted a significant diminution of the angle of the binding of the P3HT films electrochemical synthetized onto Au electrodes covered with M + S-SWNTs. This change was attributed to metallic tubes, as was demonstrated using the anisotropic PL measurements carried out on the P3HT/M-SWNTs and P3HT/S-SWNTs composites. Small variations in the angle of the binding were reported in the case of the composites prepared by chemical interaction of the two constituents. The proposed mechanism to explain this behavior took into account the functionalization process of CNTs with P3HT. The experimental arguments of the functionalization process of CNTs with P3HT were shown by the UV-VIS-NIR and FTIR spectroscopy as well as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). A PL quenching process of P3HT induced both in the presence of S-SWNTs and M-SWNTs was reported, too. This process origins in the various de-excitation pathways which can be developed considering the energy levels diagram of the two constituents of each studied composite.

Abstract
In this study, we report a cross-linker-based poly(ionic liquid) (PIL) for the sensitive detection of 4-nonylphenol (4-NP). PIL was poly(1,4-butanediyl-3,3′-bis-l-vinylimidazolium dibromide) (poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2)). Poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2) was prepared via one-step free-radical polymerization. The poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2) was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analyzer and scanning electron microscope. The poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2) was then drop-cast onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to obtain poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2)/GCE. In comparison with a bare GCE, poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2)/GCE exhibited higher peak current responses for [Fe(CN)6]3−/4−, lower charge transfer resistance, and larger effective surface area. While comparing the peak current responses, we found the peak current response for 4-NP using poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2)/GCE to be 3.6 times higher than a traditional cross-linker ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) based poly(EGDMA) modified GCE. The peak current of poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2) sensor was linear to 4-NP concentration from 0.05 to 5 μM. The detection limit of 4-NP was obtained as 0.01 μM (S/N = 3). The new PIL based electrochemical sensor also exhibited excellent selectivity, stability, and reusability. Furthermore, the poly([V2C4(mim)2]Br2)/GCE demonstrated good 4-NP detection in environmental water samples.

Abstract
A key parameter in the operation of an electrochemical double-layer capacitor is the voltage window, which dictates the device energy density and power density. Here we demonstrate experimental evidence that π-π stacking at a carbon-ionic liquid interface can modify the operation voltage of a supercapacitor device by up to 30%, and this can be recovered by steric hindrance at the electrode-electrolyte interface introduced by poly(ethylene oxide) polymer electrolyte additives. This observation is supported by Raman spectroscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry that each independently elucidates the signature of π-π stacking between imidazole groups in the ionic liquid and the carbon surface and the role this plays to lower the energy barrier for charge transfer at the electrode-electrolyte interface. This effect is further observed universally across two separate ionic liquid electrolyte systems and is validated by control experiments showing an invariant electrochemical window in the absence of a carbon-ionic liquid electrode-electrolyte interface. As interfacial or noncovalent interactions are usually neglected in the mechanistic picture of double-layer capacitors, this work highlights the importance of understanding chemical properties at supercapacitor interfaces to engineer voltage and energy capability.
