Abstract
Effective detection of Cys and Hcy plays an important role in the diagnosis of diseases. In this work, a novel indanone-based fluorescent probe INIAc-CN for sensitively and effectively detecting Cys and Hcy was developed. The probe exhibited weak fluorescence, but obvious fluorescent enhancement after reacted with Cys/Hcy. Moreover, the good anti-interference and low cytotoxicity of the probe made it successfully applied for monitoring Cys and Hcy of in living cells.

Abstract
Hydrogen sulfide and biothiol molecules such as Cys and GSH acted important roles in many physiological processes. To simultaneously detect and distinguish them was quite necessary by a suitable fluorescent probe. A novel chemosensor 4-(4-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenoxy)-7-nitrobenzo[c][1,2,5]oxadiazole (BMNO) was designed to detect H2S/Cys/GSH using the combination of nitrobenzofurazan (NBD) and benzothiazole fluorophores linked by a facile ether bond. The probe BMNO was developed for simultaneous identification of H2S, Cys and GSH. Noticeably, the color changes (from colorless to light purple, light orange and light yellow) of probe BMNO solutions for sensing H2S, Cys and GSH could be observed by naked eyes, respectively. The probe BMNO exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity for H2S, Cys and GSH showing distinct optical signal with detection limit as low as 0.15 μM, 0.03 μM and 0.14 μM, respectively. The sensing mechanism was clarified by spectrum analysis and some controlled experiments. In addition, these outstanding properties of probe BMNO enabled its practical applications in detection H2S in beer, and in cell imaging for Cys and GSH as well.

Abstract
The selective detection of glutathione (GSH) in vitro and in vivo has attracted great attentions, credited to its important role in life activities and association with a series of diseases. Among all kinds of analytical techniques, the fluorescent probe for GSH detection become prevalent recently because of its ease of operation, high temporal-spatial resolution, visualization and noninvasiveness, etc. The special structural features of GSH, such as the nucleophilicity of sulfhydryl group, the concerted reaction ability of amino group, the negative charged nature, the latent hydrogen bonding ability along with its flexible molecular chain, are all potent factors to be employed to design the specific fluorescent probe for GSH and discriminate it from other bio-species including its analogues cysteine (Cys) and homocysteine (Hcy). This paper reviewed the studies in the last 3 years and was organized based on the reaction mechanism of each probe. According to the reactivity of GSH, various recognition mechanisms including Michael addition, nucleophilic aromatic substitution, ordinary nucleophilic substitution, multi-site reaction, and other unique reactions have been utilized to construct the GSH specific fluorescent probes, and the molecular design strategy, photophysical property, recognition mechanism, and bioimaging application of each reported probe were all discussed here systematically. Great progress has been made in this area, and we believe the analyses and summarization of these excellent studies would provide valuable message and inspiration to researchers to advance the research toward clinic applications.

Abstract
Biothiols, including cysteine (Cys), homocysteine (Hcy), and glutathione (GSH), play key roles in biological processes, and detecting such thiols selectively is critical for understanding functions of biothiols. In this work, a pyridazine annelated perylene-based fluorescent probe PAPC is synthesized for highly selective detection of Cys. PAPC exhibits strong blue emission in PBS, while the red emission at 605 nm can be observed in the presence of Cys. The probe PAPC shows ratiometric fluorescence (I605/I460) detection of Cys with wide linear range of 1-120 μM and low detection limit of 0.19 μM. Super large Stokes shift (170 nm) and ratiometric fluorescence endow the probe low background signal. The discrimination of Cys over Hcy and GSH can be achieved through the difference of the ratiometric fluorescence. In addition, the probe has been proven to track Cys in real samples such as urine and HeLa cells. Therefore, PAPC probe is a promising candidate for detecting Cys in practical application. Abstract
The identification of thiols has become a research hotspot due to its role in biological systems. In this work, we simply constructed a turn-on fluorescent probe named 3-(5-bromopyridin-3-yl)-1-(pyren-1-yl) prop-2-en-1-one, that a combination of pyrene ring and substituted pyridine via the connection of α, β-unsaturated ketone. Cys can destroy the space effect by Michael addition reaction, which makes the fluorescence intensity changes. Furthermore, the probe featured excellent selectivity and high sensitivity (the detection limit was 0.52 μM) by addition of Cys. Moreover, this probe suggested a potential for imaging in vivo owing to the successful imaging of the probe in HepG2 cells, zebrafish, and Arabidopsis thaliana.

Abstract
Endogenous H2S, considered to be involved in many physiological processes, has attracted more attention in fluorescence detection and bioimaging. Therefore, it is necessary to design probes with good biocompatibility and high bioavailability. In this study, a novel fluorescent probe, QN-1, based on azide group and quinoline derivatives was developed for detecting H2S. QN-1 can detect H2S specifically in aqueous phase, which indicated QN-1 has excellent water solubility. Besides, QN-1 shows excellent properties of higher selectivity and 11-fold fluorescence enhancement at 533 nm. Therefore, QN-1 with excellent properties can be used for cell imaging.

Abstract
A benzothiazole-based near-infrared (NIR) ratiometric fluorescent probe (HBT-Cys) was developed for discriminating cysteine (Cys) from homocysteine (Hcy) and glutathione (GSH). The probe was designed by masking phenol group in the conjugated benzothiazole derivative with methacrylate group that could be selectively removed by Cys, and therefore an intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) fluorescence was switched on in the NIR region. In the absence of Cys, the probe exhibited a strong blue fluorescence emission at 431 nm, whereas a NIR fluorescence emission at 710 nm was significantly enhanced accompanied by a decrease of emission at 431 nm in the presence of Cys, allowing a ratiometric fluorescence detection of Cys. The fluorescence intensity ratio (I710nm/I431nm) showed a good linear relationship with Cys concentration of 1-40 μM with the detection limit of 0.5 μM. The sensing mechanism was explored based on MS experimental analysis and DFT theoretical calculation. Moreover, the fluorescent probe was successfully used for fluorescence bioimaging of Cys in living cells.

“Turn-On” Fluorescent Assay of Biothiols Based on Nitrogen-Rich Polymer Carbon Nanostrips and Its Application in Cell Imaging. J CHEM-NY 2019. Abstract
In this work, a sensitive and selective turn-on fluorimetric method has been developed for the determination of biothiols based on blocking Ag+-induced fluorescence quenching of nitrogen-rich polymer carbon nanostrips (NRPCNSs). Ag+ion can induce the fluorescence quenching of NRPCNSs due to the formation of nonfluorescent coordination complexes via robust Ag-N interaction. Once addition of biothiols, such as cysteine (Cys) and glutathione (GSH), Ag+ions prefer to interact with biothiols rather than NRPCNSs, which could be attribute to the formation of Ag-S bond, thus leading to effective fluorescent recovery of NRPCNSs. Under the optimized conditions, excellent linear relationships existed between the recovery degree of the NRPCNSs and the concentrations of Cys and GSH in the range of 0.05 μM to 10 μM and 0.2 μM to 30 μM, respectively. And, the limits of detection (LODs) for Cys and GSH are 16.5 nM and 65.1 nM, respectively. The detection system also shows high selectivity against other non-thiol amino acids. Moreover, the potential in practical applications of this proposed method has been demonstrated by detecting biothiols in human serum and fluorescence imaging of biothiols in living cells.
