Abstract
A novel cyclization of α-halogenoacetamides with 1-azadienes has been developed for the efficient preparation of monocyclic 1,4-diazepinones in one step under transition metal-free conditions. Various α-halogenoacetamides and 1-azadienes are well tolerated and give the desired products in good to excellent yields. This cyclization also demonstrates potential synthetic utility on a gram-scale and further transformation.

Abstract
The amide functional group is resonance stabilised and direct reaction with amines is known to be difficult. Facile amide exchange reactions would enable the synthesis of important new amide based molecules, therefore transamidation reactions represent an important step in this direction. In order to ensure a transamidation reaction takes place, special requirements and conditions are required. According to the different structural characteristics of the carbox-amide group and types of activation, the most relevant examples of this reaction will be reviewed.

Abstract
A novel and simple one-pot synthesis of 3-substituted 2,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-1,4-diazepin-2-ones from 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes (DDs) and N-unsubstituted aliphatic 1,3-diamines is described. Here we also report a procedure to selectively obtain alkyl 5H-1,4-benzodiazepine-3-carboxylates from the DDs and 2-aminobenzylamine. Both processes occur by means of sequential 1,4-conjugated addition followed by regioselective 7-exo cyclization. The behavior of N-methyl- and N,N'-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropanes toward the DDs furnished pyrazol-3-ones and bis-α-aminohydrazones, respectively.

Abstract
The carbon-nitrogen bond of secondary carboxamides is generally thermodynamically and kinetically unreactive; however, we recently discovered that the trisamidoaluminum(III) dimer Al2(NMe2)6 catalyzes facile transamidation between simple secondary carboxamides and primary amines under moderate conditions. The present report describes kinetic and spectroscopic studies that illuminate the mechanism of this unusual transformation. The catalytic reaction exhibits a bimolecular rate law with a first-order dependence on the Al(III) and amine concentrations. No rate dependence on the carboxamide concentration is observed. Spectroscopic studies (1H and 13C NMR, FTIR) support a catalyst resting state that consists of a mixture of tris-(kappa2-amidate)aluminum(III) complexes. These results, together with the presence of a significant kinetic isotope effect when deuterated amine substrate (RND2) is used, implicate a mechanism in which the amine undergoes preequilibrium coordination to aluminum and proton transfer to a kappa2-amidate ligand to yield an Al(kappa2-amidate)2(kappa1-carboxamide)(NHR) complex, followed by rate-limiting intramolecular delivery of the amido ligand (NHR) to the neutral Al(III)-activated kappa1-carboxamide. Noteworthy in this mechanism is the bifunctional character of Al(III), which is capable of activating both the amine nucleophile and the carboxamide electrophile in the reaction.
