Abstract
A theoretical study of the regio- and stereoselectivities of the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions of nitrones with substituted alkene (methyl acetophenone) is investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and carried out at B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level. The reactivity of these cycloadditions is rationalized by FMO model, activation energy calculations, and philicity indexes. The electronic populations have been calculated from natural orbital, which based on charges by using NBO analysis, MK and CHelpG electrostatic population. The four possible pathways, fused and bridged regioisomeric modes, and the two stereoisomeric approaches endo and exo for the cycloaddition reactions are analyzed and discussed. Analysis of TS geometries and bond lengths demonstrate that these reactions follow a one-step mechanism with asynchronous transition states. The activation energy indicated a favored endo approach along the four reaction pathways.

Abstract
1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of an electron deficient C-aryl-N-phenyl nitrone to benzylidene derivatives (with different electrophilicities) have been analyzed by density functional theory calculations. The transition states corresponding to the endo and exo approaches along the feasible regioisomeric reaction channels have been located for each cycloaddition. The reactions follow a concerted mechanism with asynchronous transition states. The asynchronicity along the regiochemical reaction modes depends on the β-carbon electrophilicities of the olefins. The regio and stereochemistries predicted from the calculated activation energy barriers (with solvent and higher basis set corrections) of the located transition states are in conformity with the experimental results. The local electrophilicities, softness matching indices and the interaction energies were then calculated to analyze how well these reactivity parameters can interpret the regioselectivities of such reactions. The electronic populations at the reactive sites computed from electrostatic potential-driven atomic charges provided correct and consistent predictions for each theoretical model contrary to the natural orbital based charges.

Abstract
A theoretical study on the regioselectivity of 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions between methyleneamine N-oxide (nitrone) and cyclopent-3-Ene-1,2-Dione (DPhl), pyrrole-2,3-dione (DPh2), furan-2,3-dione (DPh3) and thiophene-2,3- dione (DPh4) has been carried out by means of several theoretical approaches, namely, activation energies, Houk's rule based on FMO theory and DFT reactivity indices. The calculations were performed at the DFT-B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory using Gaussian 03. The present analysis shows that these reactions have an NED character. Moreover, the results obtained from energetic and electronic approaches, with the exception of Gazquez - Mendez rule based on NPA analysis, confirm that 1,5-regioisomer is the major product.

Abstract
The thermal decomposition of model compounds for poly (dialkyl fumarate) was studied by using ab initio and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. To determine the most favorable reaction pathway of thermal decomposition, geometries, structures, and energies were evaluated for reactants, products, and transition states of the proposed pathways at the HF/6-31G(d) and B3LYP/6-31G(d) levels. Three possible paths (I, II and III) and subsequent reaction paths (IV and V) for the model compounds of poly (dialkyl fumarate) decomposition had been postulated. It has been found that the path (I) has the lowest activation energy 193.8 kJ mol(-1) at B3LYP/6-31G(d) level and the path (I) is considered as the main path for the thermal decomposition of model compounds for poly (dialkyl fumarate).

Abstract
Substituent effects in 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of azides with alkenes and alkynes were investigated with the high-accuracy CBS-QB3 method. The possibilities for noncatalytic activation and the reversibility or irreversibility of these reactions was explored; the possibilities for uses in dynamic combinatorial chemistry (DCC) or click chemistry were explored. The activation enthalpies for reactions of ethylene and acetylene with hydrazoic acid, formyl, phenyl-, methyl-, and methanesulfonylazides exhibit modest variation, with Delta H++ ranging from 17 to 20 kcal/mol. A detailed study of formylazide cycloadditions with various alkenes and alkynes reveals a narrow range of activation enthalpies (17-21 kcal/mol). The activation enthalpies for the reactions of azides with alkenes and alkynes are similar. FMO theory and distortion/interaction energy control have been used to rationalize the rates and regiochemistries of cycloadditions involving alkene dipolarophiles. Significantly, triazoles, formed from alkynes, are 30-40 kcal/mol more stable than tetrazolines formed from alkenes. On the basis of initial reactant concentrations, kinetic and thermodynamic values are suggested for the identification of reversible reactions that approach equilibrium over 24 h, as well as for fast irreversible reactions. Although azide cycloadditions are suitable for irreversible chemistry and are typically unsuitable for reversible applications, theoretical procedures established by these studies have provided guidelines for the prediction of useful reversible libraries.
