Abstract
Crop losses caused by microbial infections are a significant global issue, especially in tropical regions. The development of novel antimicrobial agents, particularly antifungal agents, has been explored from various perspectives, including chemical synthesis. However, conventional approaches typically involve synthesizing new and potent compounds on a small scale (a few milligrams), making the scale-up of the reaction a major challenge. In this manuscript, we present a method for the synthesis of new and active (against Fusarium oxysporum) benzofuranyl acetic acid amides. Our strategy allows us to synthesize the key precursor on the gram scale, enabling the production of sufficient quantities of other active compounds within short timeframes for conducting biological studies. All the reactions used in this manuscript are recognized by their industrial application.

Abstract
Different benzofuran derivatives are synthesized via a catalyst-free reaction between nitroepoxides and salicylaldehydes. In the employed methodology, K2CO3 and DMF have been used at 110 °C, and the reactions were completed after 12 h in 33-84% yields. The highest yields were obtained using 3-nitrosalicylaldehyde. Finally, a plausible mechanism was proposed for the reaction, and some evidence was provided for this mechanism such as the detection of released acetate anion (using FTIR) and isolation and structure determination of the critical intermediate.

Abstract
A new 2-arylbenzofuran, spathobenzofuran (1), together with ten known compounds including a 2-arylbenzofuran, three pterocarpans and six isoflavones were isolated from the acetone crude extract of the stems of Spatholobus parviflorus. All compounds were characterised by spectroscopic methods. Compound 4 was active (MIC 8 µg/mL) against Gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa TISTR 781 while compound 2 had modest activity against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus TISTR 1466 with a MIC value of 16 µg/mL. All isolated compounds showed no cytotoxicity against Vero and KB cells.

Abstract
Two efficient protocols for the palladium-catalyzed synthesis of aryl-2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ols from aryl bromides in the absence of copper were developed. A simple catalytic system consisting of Pd(OAc)2 and P(p-tol)3 using DBU as the base and THF as the solvent was found to be highly effective for the coupling reaction of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol (4) with a wide range of aryl bromides in good to excellent yields. Analogously, the synthesis of aryl-2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ols was performed also through the decarboxylative coupling reaction of 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentynoic acid with aryl bromides, using a catalyst containing Pd(OAc)2 in combination with SPhos or XPhos in the presence of tetra-n-butylammonium fluoride (TBAF) as the base and THF as the solvent. Therefore, new efficient approaches to the synthesis of terminal acetylenes from widely available aryl bromides rather than expensive iodides and using 4 or propiolic acid rather than TMS-acetylene as inexpensive alkyne sources are described.

Abstract
In the course of a search for new classes of hydrogen bonding catalysts, we have examined diarylacetylenediols as potential catalysts for the Diels-Alder reaction. General and efficient methods have been developed for the preparation of these diols. Their structures were systematically modified, and increased activity was observed for those possessing an electron-withdrawing group on the aryl groups. The electron-deficient diarylacetylenediol catalysts, while more active, undergo spontaneous cyclization to the corresponding benzo[b]furans. A mechanism is postulated to explain this facile transformation. Computational studies performed on 2-ethynylphenol help to explain the effect of the alkyne on the conformation and hydrogen bond donating ability of the adjacent OH group. Finally, the crystal structure of one of the diols is reported, and it displays an intricate network of intermolecular hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
Natural stilbenes have been a hot research topic due to their intricate structures and diverse biological activities. Although their molecular backbone consists only of 1,2-diphenylethylene units, stilbenes show an enormous diversity with regard to the different units present, the degree of polymerisation, and the pattern of oligomer construction. From January 1995 to the end of 2008, more than 400 new naturally occurring stilbenes were isolated and identified, and this review focuses on their structural diversity, distribution, and bioactivity.
