Abstract
The first asymmetric total synthesis of C(9)-S-(+)-taumycin A is now reported using an approach that targeted both C(9) diastereomers concurrently. To facilitate this work, we called upon the symmetrical nature of a C(5)-C(13) side-chain intermediate and exploited orthogonal protecting groups as a tactic to access both stereoisomers from a single chiral, nonracemic intermediate. In addition to our successful approach, several minor detours that helped refine our strategy and a detailed analysis of 1H NMR data will be discussed. Select compounds included in this work were screened against the NCI60 cell line panel and displayed modest growth inhibition activity.

Abstract
Abstract
An efficient approach for the synthesis of oxazoles through the Van Leusen reaction in the presence of β-cyclodextrin is described. In aqueous medium using β-cyclodextrin as a supramolecular catalyst, tosylmethyl isocyanide was deprotonated by triethylamine and subsequently underwent an addition/cyclization reaction with aldehydes to produce corresponding oxazoles in excellent yields. This protocol improves the Van Leusen reaction with the use of catalytic amounts of base at low temperature in green media.

Abstract
Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) play a central role in all biological processes and have been the focus of intense investigations from structural molecular biology to cell biology for the majority of the last two decades and, more recently, are emerging as important targets for pharmaceuticals. A common motif found at the interface of PPIs is the α-helix, and apart from the peptidic structures, numerous nonpeptidic small molecules have been developed to mimic α-helices. The first-generation terphenyl scaffold is able to successfully mimic key helix residues and disrupt relevant interactions, including Bcl-xL-Bak interactions that are implicated in apoptosis mechanism. These scaffolds were designed and evaluated in silico. Analysis revealed that substituents on aromatic scaffolds can efficiently mimic side-chain surfaces. Unfortunately, the literature describes a long and difficult procedure to access these aromatic-based scaffolds. The search for new simpler methodology is the aim of the research of our medicinal chemistry team. On the basis of structural requirements, we developed a program concerning the synthesis of new oligo(het)aryl scaffolds produced by iterative couplings of boronic species (garlanding) in which substituents on rings project functionality in spatial orientations that mimic residues of an α-helix.

Abstract
The efficient palladium-catalyzed synthesis of a range of substituted 2H-Indazoles via C-H arylation is reported. Reactions are performed on water and provide a direct and mild route toward 2,3-diaryl indazoles of widespread biological significance.
