Abstract
Tetrahydroquinoline is one of the most important simple nitrogen heterocycles, being widespread in nature and present in a broad variety of pharmacologically active compounds. This Review summarizes the progress achieved in the chemistry of tetrahydroquinolines, with emphasis on their synthesis, during the period from mid-2010 to early 2018.

Abstract
![]()
A method
for the catalytic, enantioselective, intramolecular sulfenoamination
of alkenes with aniline nucleophiles has been developed. The method
employs a chiral, Lewis basic selenophosphoramide catalyst and a Brønsted
acid co-catalyst to promote stereocontrolled C–N and C–S
bond formation by activation of an achiral sulfenylating agent. Benzoannulated
nitrogen-containing heterocycles such as indolines, tetrahydroquinolines,
and tetrahydrobenzazepines were prepared with high to excellent enantioselectivities.
The impact of tether length and electron density of both the nucleophile
and olefin on the reactivity, site selectivity, and enantioselectivity
were investigated and interpreted in terms of substrate-dependent
stereodetermining thiiranium ion formation or capture.

Abstract
A catalyst-controlled vicinal amino- versus oxy-acetoxylation of alkenes with PhI(OAc)2 as the oxidant is described. The divergent synthesis of cyclic ureas and isoureas was achieved in good yields under mild conditions employing ambident urea nucleophiles. Both terminal and internal alkenes are compatible with this reaction protocol.

Abstract
The oxidative intramolecular bromo-amination of various N-alkenyl sulfonamides and N-alkenoxyl sulfonamides via umpolung of alkali metal bromides occurred exo-selectively to generate cyclic bromoamides in high yields with good diastereoselectivities. This method provided the desired products without elaborating the stoichiometric amount of corresponding organic waste.
