Abstract
Herein, we report a convenient and environmentally friendly electrochemical technique that enables the regioselective construction of 4-sulfenyl-1H-isochromen-1-ones using readily available precursors such as o-alkynyl benzoates and diaryl disulfides. This electrochemical process has been accomplished through constant current electrolysis in an undivided cell under external acid, catalyst, oxidant, or metal-free conditions. Owing to this protocol's mild reaction conditions, the products are obtained in good to very good yields, demonstrating a broad substrate scope and functional group tolerance.

Abstract
AbstractWe present a simple and convenient method for the generation of sulfenyl electrophiles from peptides containing S–S or S–H bonds by employing N-chlorosuccinimide. The corresponding sulfenyl electrophiles are further utilized in 5- and 6-endo-dig cyclization reactions yielding indolizinium salts, indoles, benzo[b]furans, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and isocoumarins, as well as quinolinones bearing a glutathione moiety. PAH derivatives can be used as selective fluorescent dyes for the visualization of lipid droplets in living cells.

Abstract
The activation of π-bonds in diynyl esters has been investigated by using soft and hard Lewis acids. In the case of the soft selenium Lewis acid PhSeCl, sequential activation of the alkyne bonds leads initially to an isocoumarin (1 equiv PhSeCl) and then to a tetracyclic conjugated structure with the isocoumarin subunit fused to a benzoselenopyran (3 equiv PhSeCl). Conversely, the reaction with the hard Lewis acidic borane B(C6 F5 )3 initiates a cascade reaction to yield a complex π-conjugated system containing phthalide and indene subunits.

Abstract
A convenient and efficient methodology for the synthesis of densely substituted pyrrole-fused isocoumarins, which employs solid-supported silica sulfuric acid (SSA) as catalyst, has been developed. When the mixture of ninhydrin adducts of acetylacetone/ethyl acetoacetate and primary amines was heated on the solid surface of SSA under solvent-free conditions, the pyrrole-fused isocoumarins were formed in good yields. This synthetic method has several advantages such as the employment of solvent-free reaction conditions without the use of any toxic reagents and metal catalysts, the ease of product isolation, the use of a recyclable catalyst, the low cost, the easy availability of the starting materials, and the excellent yields of products.
