Abstract: This unprecedented review with 322 references provides a critical up-to-date picture of the Pd-catalysed intermolecular direct C–H bond arylation of heteroarenes with arylating reagents alternative to aryl halides that include aryl sulfonates (aryl triflates, tosylates, mesylates, and imidazole-1-sulfonates), diaryliodonium salts, [(diacetoxy)iodo]arenes, arenediazonium salts, 1-aryltriazenes, arylhydrazines and N’-arylhydrazides, arenesulfonyl chlorides, sodium arenesulfinates, arenesulfinic acids, and arenesulfonohydrazides. Particular attention has been paid to summarise the preparation of the various arylating reagents and to highlight the practicality, versatility, and limitations of the various developed arylation protocols, also comparing their results with those achieved in analogous Pd-catalysed arylation reactions involving the use of aryl halides as electrophiles. Mechanistic proposals have also been briefly summarised and discussed. However, data concerning Pd-catalysed direct C–H bond arylations involving the C–H bonds of aryl substituents of the examined heteroarene derivatives have not been taken into account.

Abstract
A mesoporous ternary metal oxide (K-Cu-20TiO2) from a simple sol–gel method was prepared to catalyze heterogeneously the carboxylation reaction of various sodium arylsulfinates under atmospheric carbon dioxide. The catalyst showed excellent selectivity and good functional group tolerance to carboxylation recycle. The oxidation state of active copper(i) by characterization using FTIR, XRD, TG, XPS and TEM techniques proved to be efficacious to conduct atom economical reactions. A mesoporous ternary metal oxide (K-Cu-20TiO2) from a simple sol–gel method was prepared to catalyze heterogeneously the carboxylation reaction of various sodium arylsulfinates under atmospheric carbon dioxide.![]()

Abstract
A highly efficient palladium-catalyzed arylation of azoles at the C2-position using 1-aryltriazenes as aryl reagents was developed. Azoles including oxazoles, thiazoles, imidazoles, 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, and oxazolines could react with 1-aryltriazenes smoothly to generate the corresponding products in good to excellent yields, and various substitution patterns were tolerated toward the reaction.

This transformation is a new method for the homocoupling reaction of sodium arylsulfinates, thus providing an alternative synthesis of symmetric biaryls. The reported homocoupling reaction is tolerant to many common functional groups, such as ester, halo, cyano and nitro and works well in the presence of electron-donating and electron-withdrawing substituents. Notably, the reported desulfinative homocoupling does not require Cu salts, ligands and bases, making this newly developed transformation attractive.

Abstract
An efficient palladium-catalyzed desulfitative oxidative coupling of sodium arylsulfinites for highly region-selective Heck-type reaction of allylic alcohols has been developed. The compatibility of the functionalities of -I, -Br, and -F would explore further postfunctionalization of the C-X bonds. This method provides a new and straightforward protocol for the synthesis of β-aryl ketones and aldehydes. The deuterium labeling experiments indicated that this transformation may proceed via a [1, 2-H] shift process.

Abstract
Herein, we report the Pd-catalyzed regioselective direct arylation of heteroarenes in which benzenesulfonyl chlorides are used as coupling partners through a desulfitative cross-coupling that can be performed in diethyl carbonate (DEC) or cyclopentyl methyl ether (CPME) as green and renewable solvents or even in neat conditions instead of dioxane or dimethylacetamide (DMA). Under these solvent conditions, the reaction proceeds with a wide range of heteroarenes. C2- or C5-arylated products were obtained with furan and pyrrole derivatives. Benzofuran was also arylated regioselectively at the C2-position, whereas the reaction proceeds selectively at the C3- or C4-positions if thiophenes and benzothiophenes are used. Moreover, in some cases, especially with 1-methylindole, solvent-free conditions afforded better regioselectivities and/or yields than the reaction performed in the presence of solvents.

Abstract
An efficient room-temperature palladium-catalyzed direct 2-arylation of benzoxazoles with aryl bromides is presented. The Pd(OAc)2/NiXantphos-based catalyst enables the introduction of various aryl and heteroaryl groups, via a deprotonative cross-coupling process (DCCP) in good to excellent yields (60-99%).

Abstract
An efficient practical homocoupling reaction of sodium arylsulfinate promoted by Cu(II) is reported whereby symmetrical diaryl sulfone derivatives are obtained with high selectivity and reactivity by intermolecular cross-coupling. This homocoupling reaction is tolerant to many functional groups and proceeds under mild conditions.
