Electron Donor-Acceptor Complex Induced Fused Indoles with Hypervalent Iodine(III) Reagents

An operationally simple and efficient method for the cyclization of tertiary amines and hypervalent iodine reagents enabled by an EDA complex has been developed. A series of [1,2-α]indoles derivatives were obtained in good yields, including some key intermediates for the synthesis of biologically active molecules. In addition, this established strategy features a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

One-pot sequential synthesis of 3-carbonyl-4-arylbenzo[f]indole and 3-carbonyl-4-arylnaphthofuran fluorophores

A robust synthetic method for the construction of valuable fluorophores, 3-carbonyl-4-arylbenzo[f]indoles and 3-carbonyl-4-arylnaphthofurans, has been developed. The strategy involved a one-pot domino process to achieve the products in moderate to excellent yields.

Lewis Acid Mediated Vinylogous Additions of Enol Nucleophiles into an α,β-Unsaturated Platinum Carbene

A variety of substituted indoles and benzofurans are accessed via a platinum catalyzed annulation and vinylogous addition of enol nucleophiles. Several β-dicarbonyl compounds participate in the reaction, as do α-nitro and α-cyano carbonyl species. Subjecting the indole products to acidic conditions results in the formation of fused heterocycles.

Bioinspired total synthesis and structural revision of yuremamine, an alkaloid from the entheogenic plant Mimosa tenuiflora

Guided by a biosynthetic hypothesis, a serendipitous total synthesis of yuremamine has resulted in its structural revision from the putative pyrroloindole (1) to the flavonoidal indole (2), which was initially proposed as a biosynthetic intermediate.

Synthesis of substituted 2-aminoimidazoles via Pd-catalyzed alkyne carboamination reactions. Application to the synthesis of preclathridine natural products

A new method for the synthesis of 2-aminoimidazole products is described. The heterocyclic products are generated in good yields via Pd-catalyzed carboamination reactions of N-propargyl guanidines and aryl triflates. This methodology generates both a C-N and C-C bond during the annulation step and facilitates the rapid construction of 2-aminoimidazole products with different aryl groups. The utility of this methodology was demonstrated in the total synthesis of preclathridine A, preclathridine B, and dorimidazole B from a single intermediate.

Palladium-catalyzed through-space C(sp(3))-H and C(sp(2))-H bond activation by 1,4-palladium migration: efficient synthesis of [3,4]-fused oxindoles

Palladium two step: Linear anilides were converted into the title compounds in good to excellent yields through a palladium-catalyzed domino carbopalladation/1,4-palladium shift sequence.
