One-pot reductive coupling reactions of acetyl naphthalene derivatives, tosylhydrazide, with arylboronic acids

Coupling Reactions of Anhydro-Aldose Tosylhydrazones with Boronic Acids

A catalyst-free coupling reaction between O-peracetylated, O-perbenzoylated, O-permethylated, and O-permethoxymethylated 2,6-anhydro-aldose tosylhydrazones (C-(β-d-glycopyranosyl)formaldehyde tosylhydrazones) and aromatic boronic acids is reported. The base-promoted reaction is operationally simple and exhibits a broad substrate scope. The main products in most of the transformations were open-chain 1-C-aryl-hept-1-enitol type compounds while the expected β-d-glycopyranosylmethyl arenes (benzyl C-glycosides) were formed in subordinate yields only. A mechanistic rationale is provided to explain how a complex substrate may change the well-established course of the reaction.

KI/TBHP-promoted [3 + 2] cycloaddition of pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxalines and N-arylsulfonylhydrazones

A series of diverse fused [1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-c]quinoxalines was obtained by an efficient KI/TBHP-promoted [3 + 2] cycloaddition of pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxalines and N-arylsulfonylhydrazones.

Synthesis of 9-biarylfluorenes by one-pot, three-step reactions of N-tosylhydrazones, p-bromobenzeneboronic acid, and arylboronic acids

A one-pot, three-step reaction of N-tosylhydrazones, p-bromobenzeneboronic acid, and arylboronic acids is established for the synthesis of 9-biarylfluorenes. Sequential formation of Csp3–Csp2 bond and Csp2–Csp2 bonds using readily available starting materials leads to the 9-biarylfluorene products in good yields. The present transformation features a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

Synthesis of 3-Aryl-1-Indanones via CsF-Promoted Coupling of Arylboronic Acids with N-Tosylhydrazones

A series of 173-aryl-1-indanones, four of which are novel, were prepared in good yield via a CsF-promoted reductive cross-coupling of the monotosylhydrazone of a 1,3-indanedione with an arylboronic acid. The method demonstrates wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. Moreover, the 3-aryl-1-indanones could also be prepared on a multi-gram scale.

Multi-Component One-Pot Reaction of Aromatic Carbonyl Compounds, Tosylhydrazide, and Arylboronic Acids

In this paper, we developed a new method using 4-bromoacetophenone as the starting material, with tosylhydrazide and two arylboronic acids using Barluenga and Suzuki couplings in a four-component one-pot reaction to afford the target product 4-benzyl-1,1′-biphenyls. This system that we have developed enables the use of easily accessible starting materials and can be employed on a wide variety of substrates with good functional group tolerance. In particular, this protocol can be applied to the synthesis of 4-(1-([1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)ethyl)pyridine derivatives, a class of potential analogs of CPY17 inhibitors of prostate cancer.
