Abstract
Chiral 1,2-bis(2,5-diphenylphospholano)ethane (Ph-BPE) is a class of optimal organic bisphosphine ligands with C2-symmetry. Ph-BPE with its excellent catalytic performance in asymmetric synthesis has attracted much attention of chemists with increasing popularity and is growing into one of the most commonly used organophosphorus ligands, especially in asymmetric catalysis. Over two hundred examples have been reported since 2012. This review presents how Ph-BPE is utilized in asymmetric synthesis and how powerful it is as a chiral ligand or even a catalyst in a wide range of reactions including applications in the total synthesis of bioactive molecules.

Abstract
Cis-hydrobenzofurans, cis-hydroindoles, and cis-hydrindanes, privileged structural motifs found in numerous biologically active natural and synthetic compounds, are efficiently prepared by a Rh(I)-catalyzed cascade syn-arylation/1,4-addition protocol. This approach starts with the regioselective syn-arylation of the alkyne tethered to 2,5-hexadienone moieties, using a chiral Rh(I) catalyst generated in situ from a chiral bicyclo[2.2.1]hepatadiene ligand L4f. By forging two new carbon-carbon bonds and introducing two chiral centers, the resulting alkenylrhodium species undergoes desymmetrization via an intramolecular 1,4-addition reaction, delivering annulated products with high yields and enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed enantioselective borylative cyclization with various electrophiles via difunctionalization of unsaturated hydrocarbons is a powerful tool for the generation of interesting boron-containing carbocycles and heterocycles processes involving a chiral organocopper intermediate. Alkenes, allenes, and alkynes are versatile and easily accessible substrates that can be subjected to a wide range of reactions to produce densely functionalized, enantioenriched products. In this chapter, I discuss copper-catalyzed alkenes, allenes, and alkynes borofunctionalization and enantioselective cyclization via chiral organocopper intermediate. Copper-catalyzed enantioselective borylative cyclization and regiodivergent functionalization of alkenes, allenes, and alkynes, as well as the current mechanistic understanding of such processes, are given special attention in this review.

Abstract
The use of alkynes as vinylmetal pronucleophiles in intermolecular enantioselective metal-catalyzed carbonyl and imine reductive couplings to form allylic alcohols and amines is surveyed. Related hydrogen auto-transfer processes, wherein alcohols or amines serve dually as reductants and carbonyl or imine proelectrophiles, also are cataloged, as are applications in target-oriented synthesis. These processes represent an emerging alternative to the use of stoichiometric vinylmetal reagents or Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi (NHK) reactions in carbonyl and imine alkenylation.

Abstract
The development of transition-metal catalyzed enantioselective and diastereoselective transformations has contributed many advances in the field of synthetic organic chemistry. Particularly, stereoselective desymmetrization of prochiral cyclohexadienones represents a powerful strategy for accessing highly functionalized and stereochemically enriched scaffolds, which are often found in biologically active compounds and natural products. In recent years, several research groups including our group have made a significant progress on transition-metal catalyzed stereoselective desymmetrizations of 2,5-cyclohexadienones. In this account, we will provide an overview of the recent developments in this area employing Pd, Cu, Rh, Au, Ag, Ni, Co, and Mn-catalysts.

Abstract
Developed herein is a Cu(II)-catalyzed Meyer-Schuster-type rearrangement of alkyne-tethered cyclohexadienone for the construction of m-enone-substituted phenols. The reaction involves an uncommon 5-exo-trig 1,6-enyne cyclization of alkyne-tethered-cyclohexadienone, aromatization-triggered C-O bond cleavage, and an electrocyclic 4π-ring-opening of oxetene intermediate. This atom-efficient transformation provides access to a wide range of synthetically important α-(m-substituted phenol)-α,β-unsaturated ketones, featuring a broad scope with labile functional group tolerance. The gram-scale demonstration makes this transformation synthetically viable. The synthetic application of α,β-unsaturated ketones is also showcased.

Abstract
In this protocol, copper-catalyzed diverse silylative carbocyclization reactions of 2,2'-diethynylbiaryl derivatives with silaboronate were reported. Three new and novel types of domino reactions for the copper-catalyzed transformation of silaboronate were discovered. The corresponding cyclobuta[l]phenanthrene, bis((silyl)methyl)phenanthrene, and silyl-substituted exocyclic diene products were chemoselectively formed with high efficiency.

Abstract
The copper-catalyzed functionalization of enyne derivatives has recently emerged as a powerful approach in contemporary synthesis. Enynes are versatile and readily accessible substrates that can undergo a variety of reactions to yield densely functionalized, enantioenriched products. In this perspective, we review copper-catalyzed transformations of enynes, such as boro- and hydrofunctionalizations, copper-mediated radical difunctionalizations, and cyclizations. Particular attention is given to the regiodivergent functionalization of 1,3-enynes, and the current mechanistic understanding of such processes.

Abstract
An efficient one-pot synthesis of multisubstituted 9,10-dihydrophenanthrenes from easily available 2-arylazaarenes and cyclohexadienone-tethered terminal alkynes (1,6-enynes) has been successfully achieved. This domino reaction proceeded smoothly through Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation, direct protonation of alkenyl-Rh intermediates, intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction, alkene isomerization, subsequent ring-opening aromatization, and acetylation. This strategy was pot-economical and tolerated a wide range of functional groups. Moreover, the potent anticancer activities against HepG2 cells were observed for these artificial 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene derivatives.

Abstract
A zinc-catalyzed decarboxylative A3 reaction of cyclic amino acids, α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and terminal alkynes has been developed. A series of functionalized N-heterocyclic 1,6-enynes have been successfully obtained with excellent regioselectivities through this novel approach. In addition, the utility of this straightforward process is demonstrated by the preparation of a polycyclic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound.
