Abstract
A new synthetic protocol has been developed to construct polyfunctional isoxazol-5-one derivatives with imidazole moiety. It is based on the Knoevenagel condensation of isoxazol-5-one with aldehydes and subsequent Michael addition of imidazole N-oxides as part of a tandem three-component process. This reaction proceeds smoothly in moderate-to-good yield under catalyst-free conditions.

Abstract
1,4-Conjugate addition of ((chloromethyl)sulfonyl)benzenes to arylideneisoxazol-5-ones, followed by one-pot, N-selective trapping in the presence of electrophiles, was investigated. This strategy led to the synthesis of new, stable N-protected isoxazol-5-ones in good yields and high diastereolectivity. The study of the reactivity of obtained products in the presence of the Mo(CO)6/H2O system allowed the development of a cascade reaction leading to novel methyl ketones in high yields and unchanged dr bearing an uncommon chloromethinearylsulfonyl end group.

Abstract
A simple and convenient cyclization of ortho-hydroxyphenyl-substituted para-quinone methides with benzofuran-2-one type active olefins via oxa-Michael/1,6-conjugated addition has been developed, which afforded an easy access to enriched functionalized chroman-spirobenzofuran-2-one scaffolds with good to excellent yields (up to 90%) and diastereoselectivities (up to >19 : 1 dr). This reaction provided an efficient method for constructing desired spirocyclic compounds combining both well-known heterocyclic pharmacophores chroman and benzofuran-2-one. Abstract
In the last few years, there has been an explosive growth in the area of para-quinone methide (p-QM) chemistry. This boom is actually due to the unique reactivity pattern of p-QMs, and also their remarkable synthetic applications. In fact, p-QMs serve as synthons for unsymmetrical diaryl- and triarylmethanes, and also for the construction of diverse range of carbocycles and heterocycles. In the last few years, a wide range of structurally complex heterocyclic frameworks could be accessed through the synthetic transformations of structurally modified stable p-QMs. Therefore, the main focus of this review article is to cover the recent advancements in the transition-metal, Lewis acid and base-catalyzed/mediated synthetic transformations of the stable p-quinone methides (p-QMs) to oxygen- and nitrogen-containing heterocycles.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of 4-arylidene-3-alkylisoxazole-5(4H)-ones has been implemented
via the three-component cyclocondensation of aryl(heteroaryl)aldehydes with hydroxylamine
hydrochloride and β-ketoesters. The potassium 2,5-dioxoimidazolidin-1-ide has
been introduced as the new organocatalyst to facilitate this heterocyclization. In the current
process, three starting materials, including substituted benzaldehydes/heterocyclic aromatic
aldehydes, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, and ethyl acetoacetate/propyl acetoacetate/butyryl
acetoacetate have been successfully used to synthesize the number of substituted isoxazole-
5(4H)-ones in good to high yields in ethylene glycol as a green reaction medium at 80 ºC. The
low catalyst loading is also a main advantage over some reported catalysts.

Abstract
In this work, we describe the application of a synthetic enzyme (synzyme) as the catalyst to promote the multicomponent synthesis of isoxazol-5(4H)-one derivatives. The catalytic system could be used up to 15 times without any notable loss of its activity. Some derivatives showed fluorescence and their photophysical data were evaluated. The mechanism of the reaction was, for the first time, investigated and, among the three reaction pathway possibilities, only one was operating under the developed conditions. ESI-MS(/MS) allowed for both the simultaneous monitoring of the multicomponent reaction (MCR) and the proposition of a kinetic model to explain the transformation. The kinetic model pointed firmly to only one reaction pathway and helped to discard the other two possibilities. The antimicrobial abilities of all synthesized derivatives against Gram-positive and Gram-negative strains were also evaluated. The abilities of functional chromophores (fluorescent compounds) as live cell-imaging probes were verified and one of the multicomponent adducts could stain early endosomes selectively in bioimaging experiments.

Abstract
Reactions of arylidene-isoxazol-5-ones with intermediates from palladium-catalysed decarboxylation of allyl carbamates proceeded through aza-Michael addition and N-allylation to give the corresponding bis-adducts, β-amido-N-allylated products, in good yields. In similar reactions with 4-vinyl-1,4-dihydro-2H-3,1-benzoxazin-2-one, a cyclic allyl carbamate, C-allylation took place to yield a series of spiro[isoxazole-4,3'-quinolin]-5-ones in high yields. Regio-selective N- versus C-allylation is illustrated to occur in an inter- versus intra-molecular fashion. The structure and stereochemistry of these products are determined by NMR spectroscopy and further confirmed by X-ray crystallography. This work offers an excellent method for the preparation of various substituted isoxazol-5-ones.

Abstract
AbstractIsoxazol-5-ones and isoxazolidin-5-ones represent two important classes of heterocycles, with several applications as bioactive compounds and as versatile building blocks for further transformations. Unlike the parent aromatic isoxazoles, the presence of one or two stereocenters in the ring renders their asymmetric construction particularly important. In this review, starting from the description of general features and differences between these two related compound families, we present an overview on the most important enantioselective synthesis strategies to access these heterocycles. Both chiral metal catalysts and organocatalysts have recently been successfully employed for this task and some of the most promising approaches will be discussed.1 Introduction2 Isoxazol-5-ones as Nucleophiles2.1 Isoxazol-5-ones as C-Nucleophiles2.2 Isoxazol-5-ones as N-Nucleophiles2.3 Isoxazol-5-ones as C-Nucleophiles in Cyclization Processes3 Asymmetric Construction of Isoxazolidin-5-ones3.1 Enantioselective α-Functionalizations of Isoxazolidin-5-ones4 Arylideneisoxazol-5-ones in Conjugated Addition5 Conclusions

Abstract
An efficient DBU-catalyzed conjugate addition of 5H-oxazol-4-ones to o-hydroxyphenyl-substituted p-quinone methides has been developed, affording the valuable diarylmethanes in high yields with excellent diastereoselectivity. Recent Advances in Organocatalyzed Asymmetric Synthesis of Benzopyran and Benzodihydropyran (Chromane) Nuclei. Symmetry (Basel) 2019. Abstract
Benzopyran and benzodihydropyran (chromane) nuclei are the core structure of many natural products, in particular flavonoids. Many compounds possessing this structure are nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical nutrients. Therefore, benzopyran and chromane scaffolds are important building blocks in organic synthesis and many efforts have been made to set up efficient methods for their synthesis. In particular, asymmetric methods are of great importance, being natural products, and generally chiral substances. This review aims to cover literature in the range 2017–first half of 2019.
