Abstract
The last decade has witnessed the emergence of innovative synthetic tools for the synthesis of fluorinated molecules. Among these approaches, the transition-metal-catalyzed functionalization of various scaffolds with a panel of fluorinated groups (XRF, X = S, Se, O) offered straightforward access to high value-added compounds. This review will highlight the main advances made in the field with the transition-metal-catalyzed functionalization of C(sp2) and C(sp3) centers with SCF3, SeCF3, or OCH2CF3 groups among others, by C-H bond activation. The scope and limitations of these transformations are discussed in this review.

Abstract
A combined cobalt and photoredox catalysis system to realize the C8-H alkoxylation of 1-naphthylamine derivatives with alcohols was developed. Using commercially available alkyl alcohols as raw materials and Co(OAc)2 and rose bengal as catalysts, 1-naphthylamine derivatives reacted with alcohols to generate the corresponding C8-H alkoxylation products in good yields.

Abstract
Synthesis of hindered alkyl aryl ether derivatives (R-O-Ar) remains a huge challenge and highly desirable in organic and medicinal chemistry because extensive substitution on the ether bond prevents the undesired metabolic process and thus avoids rapid degradation in vivo. Herein, we report an unprecedented hindered alkoxylation of picolinamide attached aromatic amines using economic copper salt and organic peroxide to get highly desirable α-tertiary alkyl aryl ethers.

Abstract
A simple and efficient protocol for silver-promoted direct C-H phosphonation of 1-naphthylamine derivatives with H-phosphonates was described. This reaction proceeded smoothly for 1-naphthylamine derivatives at the C4 site, providing a facile and efficient route to 4-phosphonated 1-naphthylamine derivatives. This phosphonation could tolerate a diverse type of functional groups at the pyridinyl and naphthyl moieties. Further functionalization of the phosphonated product was also explored at the C2 and C8 sites, such as fluoridation, methylation, methoxylation, and amination. In addition, DFT studies of the reaction intermediate showed that the most electrophilic reactive site is at the C4 site in the naphthyl ring.

Abstract
An efficient divergent approach of Pd-catalyzed C-H oxygenation of polyaromatic rings is described. Reversible directing groups enable regiospecific peri- and ortho-oxygenation to readily access a wide array of polyaromatic phenols without pre- and postmanipulation of directing groups. The systematic mechanistic investigation, including deuterium-labeling experiments, palladacycle trapping, and DFT calculations, reveals that the tunable ligand-assisted C-H bond cleavage played a crucial role during the reaction process.

Abstract
The Co(ii)-catalyzed selective C-H alkenylation of picolinamides with 1,3-diynes has been developed. This protocol can be applied to a variety of 1,3-diynes. In addition, both symmetrical and unsymmetrical internal alkynes were well tolerated, affording the corresponding alkenyl arenes. Moreover, control experiments indicated that C-H bond cleavage may be involved in the rate-determining step. Furthermore, a deuterium incorporation product was achieved when deuterated alcohol was employed as the solvent, which suggested that alcohol was essential for the final protonolysis.

Abstract
An unexpected three-component reaction of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones, tert-butyl peroxybenzoate (TBPB), and hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is described. Under CuBr-catalyzed and TBPB-oxidized conditions, a variety of hydroxyhexafluoroisobutylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones were formed. Furthermore, the first hexafluoroisopropoxylation of the quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with HFIP is also demonstrated with Cu2O as the catalyst and PhI(OAc)2 as the oxidant. These new transformations of HFIP furnish previously unknown and potentially useful fluorinated quinoxalin-2(1H)-one derivatives.

Abstract
A cobalt(II)-catalyzed [4+2] annulation of picolinamides with alkynes via C-H bond activation has been developed. The operationally simple annulation reaction allows for the synthesis of acyl-substituted 1H-benzoquinoline bearing multiple aromatic rings (up to 96 % yield) without co-oxidant or other oxidation factors under mild conditions. Several control experiments were carried out. This practical [4+2] annulation provides an efficient route to access highly functionalized compounds.

Abstract
Iron(III)-catalyzed regioselective direct remote C-H carboxylation of naphthyl and quinoline amides was developed using CBr4 and alcohol. The reaction involves a radical pathway using a coordination activation strategy and single electron transfer process. The use of sustainable iron catalysis, selectivity, and the substrate scope are the important practical features.

Abstract
An efficient protocol for palladium-catalyzed picolinamide directed C8-H alkoxycarbonylmethylation of 1-naphthylamine derivatives with α-chloroalkyl esters has been developed. The reaction exhibited a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance with high isolated yields. Note that α-chloroalkyl esters as a new type of alkylating reagent could be easily functionalized further due to their pending an ester group.
