Abstract
The advent of organocatalysis provided an additional option in every researcher's arsenal, towards the development of elegant and sustainable protocols for various organic transformations. Oxidation reactions are considered to be key in organic synthesis since oxygenated functionalities appear in many natural products. Hydrogen peroxide is categorized as a green oxidant, since its only by-product is water, offering novel opportunities for the development of green and sustainable protocols. In this review article, we intend to present recent developments in the field of the organocatalytic activation of hydrogen peroxide, providing useful insight into the applied oxidative protocols. At the same time, we will present some interesting mechanistic studies, providing information on the oxygen transfer processes.

Abstract
The reactions of O-electrophiles, such as organic peroxides, with carbon nucleophiles are an umpolung alternative to the common approaches to C-O bond formation. Nucleophilic substitution at the oxygen atom of cyclic diacyl peroxides by enol acetates with the following deacylation leads to α-acyloxyketones with an appended carboxylic acid in 28-87% yields. The effect of fluorinated alcohols on the oxidative functionalization of enol acetates by cyclic diacyl peroxides was studied experimentally and computationally. Computational analysis reveals that the key step proceeds as a direct substitution nucleophilic bimolecular (SN2) reaction at oxygen (SN2@O). CF3CH2OH has a dual role in assisting in both steps of the reaction cascade: it lowers the energy of the SN2@O activation step by hydrogen bonding to a remote carbonyl and promotes the deacylation of the cationic intermediate.

Effect of glucose oxidase treatment on the aroma qualities and release of cooked off-odor components from heat-treated Hami melon juice. Food Chem 2022; 371:131166. Abstract
Melon juice produces strong cooked off-odors during heat processing, leading to serious deterioration of aroma quality. In this work, the aroma quality of melon juice, the changes in GOD reaction products, and the interactions of reaction products and cooked off-odor components were analyzed by sensory evaluation, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry/olfactory, ultraperformance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry, and isothermal titration calorimetry to study the effect mechanism of glucose oxidase (GOD) on the release of cooked off-odor components from heat-treated melon juice. The results showed that GOD treatment improved the aroma quality mainly by controlling off-odor attributes and maintaining characteristic odor attributes. This was because the reaction products (hydrogen peroxide and gluconic acid) of GOD treatment inhibited the release of cooked off-odor components from heat-treated melon juice through oxidation and hydrophobic effects. Furthermore, these products reduced the loss of characteristic odor compounds by restraining Maillard, degradation, and oxidation reactions during heat processing.

Abstract
The photoracemization of chiral alkyl aryl sulfoxides with a photosensitizer has not been sufficiently investigated thus far. Therefore, in this study, a rapid photoracemization reaction of enantiopure alkyl aryl sulfoxides using 1 mol % 2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate (TPT+) was developed. Various substitution patterns were tolerated and every racemization reaction proceeded extremely fast (k2 = 1.77 × 104-6.08 × 101 M-1 s-1, t1/2 = 0.4-114 s). Some chiral sulfoxides with easily oxidizable functional groups are not appropriate for this photoisomerization. The electrochemical potentials of the functional groups, determined via cyclic voltammetry, are useful for predicting the reactive or nonreactive groups in this photoracemization reaction. A theoretical study was conducted to clarify the sp2-like nature of S of the sulfoxide cation radical, which makes photoracemization easier.
