Tandem Synthesis of 3-chloro-4-iodoisoxazoles from 1-copper(I) alkynes, dichloroformaldoxime, and molecular iodine

A tandem synthesis for structurally novel 3-chloro-4-iodoisoxazoles was developed by simply mixing 1-copper(I) alkynes, dichloroformaldoxime, and molecular iodine together. The combination of 1-copper(I) alkyne and molecular iodine was well used as a synthetic equivalent of 1-iodoalkyne without the need for tedious preparation, purification, and storage of 1-iodoalkyne.

Accessing Brominated Natural Product Motifs Using Phosphoramidite Catalysis

This article describes the application of a first-generation phosphoramidite catalyst to the construction of the most commonly encountered subunits of bromine-containing natural products. The process is compared with previous efforts, and is found to be complementary to existing methods. Application of the process enables bromocarbocyclisations, bromoetherifications, and bromoallene formation using the common laboratory reagent N-bromosuccinimide.

Synthesis of (+)-luzofuran and (-)-ancistrofuran

The first synthesis of the furan-containing snyderane, (+)-luzofuran, is reported. The key step in this approach was an electrophilic brominative cyclization, which was accomplished using a nucleophilic N-heterocycle-flanked phosphoramidite catalyst in combination with the common laboratory reagent N-bromosuccinimide.
