Abstract
Desymmetrization of fully substituted carbons with a pair of enantiotopic functional groups is a practical strategy for the synthesis of quaternary stereocentres, as it divides the tasks of enantioselection and C-C bond formation. The use of disubstituted malonic esters as the substrate of desymmetrization is particularly attractive, given their easy and modular preparation, as well as the high synthetic values of the chiral monoester products. Here, we report that a dinuclear zinc complex with a tetradentate ligand can selectively hydrosilylate one of the carbonyls of malonic esters to give α-quaternary β-hydroxyesters, providing a promising alternative to the desymmetric hydrolysis using carboxylesterases. The asymmetric reduction features excellent enantiocontrol that can differentiate sterically similar substituents and high chemoselectivity towards the diester motif of substrates. Together with the versatile preparation of malonic ester substrates and post-reduction derivatization, the desymmetric reduction has enabled the synthesis of a diverse array of quaternary stereocentres with distinct structural features.

Abstract
The advantages of zinc catalysts, such as their low toxicity, low cost, and environmentally benignity, are encouraging organic chemists to explore their applications in organic synthesis. As a non-redox metal, zinc catalysts have been investigated in redox reactions over the past few decades. Because of the importance of redox reactions, the interest in zinc catalysts, and the fact that no review on zinc-catalyzed redox reactions has been published, herein, I have collected and summarized the main contributions in this area. This review is divided into two parts: reduction reactions and oxidation reactions.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Chiral acyclic and macrocyclic amines derived from trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane in complexes with diethylzinc efficiently catalyze asymmetric hydrosilylation of aryl-alkyl and aryl-aryl ketones with enantiomeric excess of the product up to 86 %. A trianglamine ligand with a cyclic structure or the presence of an additional coordinating group increases the enantioselectivity of the reaction, in comparison with catalysis by a simple acyclic N,N'-dibenzyl-1,2-diaminocyclohexane ligand. In addition, the effect of the asymmetric activation of the catalyst by a variety of alcohols and diols is studied. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Abstract
The combination of Fe(OAc)2 and multi-nitrogen-based ligands such as N,N,N',N'-tetramethyethylenediamine, bis-tert-butyl-bipyridine, or bis(oxazolinyl)pyridine can efficiently catalyse hydrosilylation of ketones to give the corresponding alcohols in high yields including asymmetric catalysis.
