Abstract
:
Transition metal catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have always been very important
in synthetic organic chemistry due to their versatility in forming all sorts of carbon-carbon
and carbon-hetero atom bonds. Incorporation of ultrasound assistance to these protocols resulted
in milder reaction conditions, faster reaction rates, etc. This review focuses on the contributions
made by ultrasound-assisted protocols towards transition metal catalyzed crosscoupling
reactions.

Abstract
Two diacyldaucic acids (1 and 2), an α,β-unsaturated γ-lactone-type lignan (3) and its derivatives (4-6), and 12 known compounds were isolated from a traditional East Asian vegetable, Oenanthe javanica. The absolute configuration of 1 was validated by obtaining (+)-osbeckic acid through acid hydrolysis. The absolute configurations of 3-5 were determined by comparing their experimental and computed ECD data. The conclusion was supported by applying the phenylglycine methyl ester method to 3. Compound 6 was obtained as an interconverting mixture of isomers in a 3:1 trans- cis ratio. Several water-soluble components (1, 3, and 6) showed concentration-dependent inhibitory effects on antigen-stimulated degranulation in RBL-2H3 cells without producing any direct cytotoxicity against RBL-2H3 or HeLa cells.

Abstract
Abstract
This chapter highlights the utility of electrophilic achiral and chiral organoselenium reagents in organic synthesis. A range of reactions from alkene functionalizations, the functionalization of aliphatic and aromatic C–H bonds using stoichiometric and catalytic approaches as well as rearrangement reactions are described. In addition, the utility of organotellurium reagents in organic synthesis is covered in this chapter.

Abstract
The crystal structure analysis of three aryl-1,3-dithiane derivatives, with aryl=4-methylphenyl (1), 4-chlorophenyl (2) and 2,4-dichlorophenyl (3), shows the three molecules to have very similar conformations, with the aryl ring lying on an approximate mirror plane that bisects the dithiane ring which adopts a chair conformation; the energy-minimised structures are consistent with the experimental structures. The greater barrier to rotation about the methine-C–C(ipso) bond in 3, cf. 1 and 2, is related to unfavourable intramolecular S···Cl interactions in the putative transition state. The molecular packing in 1–3, while globally similar, are distinct, being based on combinations of identifiable C–H···π(arene), C–H···S and C–Cl···π(arene) interactions. The lack of isostructural relationships points to the significance of the identified intermolecular interactions to direct molecular packing.

Abstract
Microwave, ultrasound, sunlight and mechanochemical mixing can be used to augment conventional laboratory techniques. By applying these alternative means of activation, a number of chemical transformations have been achieved thereby improving many existing protocols with superior results when compared to reactions performed under traditional conditions. The purpose of this critical review is to highlight the advances in this general area by presenting such newer applications in organic synthesis (175 references).

Abstract
Highly regio- and stereoselective reactions of readily available 2-(methoxycarbonyl)-2,3-allenols 1 with oxalyl chloride in the presence of Et(3)N or DMSO afforded methyl 2-(ethynyl)alk-2(E)-enoates (E)-2 and 2-(1'-chlorovinyl)alk-2(Z)-enoates (Z)-3, respectively, in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
Through direct transmetalation reaction of Z-vinylic tellurides with nBuLi was observed the unexpected isomerization of double bonds leading to potassium E-vinyltrifluoroborates salts in low to moderate yields. Using EPR spin trapping experiments the radical species that promoted the stereoinversion of Z-vinylic organometallic species during the preparation of potassium vinyltrifluoroborate salts was identified. The experiments support the proposed mechanism, which is based on the homolytic cleavage of the TenBu bond.
