Abstract
Tandem Prins cyclization is a versatile method for the synthesis of fused/bridged/spirotetrahydropyran scaffolds. Therefore, it has become a powerful tool for the stereoselective synthesis of oxygen/nitrogen containing heterocycles. Indeed, previous review articles on Prins spirocyclization illustrate the synthesis of spirotetrahydropyran derivatives and the aza-Prins reaction demonstrates its application in the total synthesis of natural products. The current review is devoted specifically to highlight tandem Prins cyclizations for the construction of fused scaffolds and related frameworks with a particular emphasis on recent applications. The mechanistic aspects and the scope of the methods are briefly discussed herein.

Abstract
A domino synthesis of 2,3-dialkylidenetetrahydrofurans based on Prins-type cyclization of 3,5-diynols and aldehydes is described. In the present reaction, skeletal reorganization of the Prins-cyclized intermediates proceeds via a ring-opening reaction followed by intramolecular (hemi)acetalization of the resulting 4-en-1-yn-3-ones. Furthermore, a representative product undergoes a Diels-Alder reaction with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) to afford a highly substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran.

Abstract
Inexpensive and air stable triphenylcarbenium tetrafluoroborate efficiently promoted the carbofluorination of N-arylpropargylpyrrolidines bearing a tertiary allylic alcohol tether at the 2-position of the pyrrolidine ring to provide 1-isobutenyl-2-(fluoro(phenyl)methylenylhexahydro-1H-pyrrolizidines in a stereoselective fashion. When subjected to bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonamide, the same substrates underwent cycloisomerization reaction within minutes to generate 1-isobutenyl-2-benzoylhexahydro-1H-pyrrolizidines with excellent stereoselectivity.

Abstract
The synthesis of fluorinated azabicycles from tert-butyldimethylsilyl-protected N-containing cyclic enynols using inexpensive BF3·OEt2 is described. In this reaction, BF3 reacts as both the Lewis acid and the fluoride source for cyclization/fluorination of the TBS-protected cyclic N-containing enynols. The method provides an easy access to fluorinated azabicycles where a new C(sp(2))-F bond and a new bicyclic skeleton are generated at ambient temperature within 1-13 min under metal-free reaction conditions.

Abstract
Treatment of a range of 2,3- and 3,4-epoxy amines with HBF(4)·OEt(2) at room temperature results in fast and efficient S(N)2-type ring-opening hydrofluorination to give stereodefined amino fluorohydrins. Operational simplicity, scalability, and short reaction time at ambient temperature are notable features of this method. The utility of this methodology is exemplified in a concise asymmetric synthesis of (S,S)-3-deoxy-3-fluorosafingol.

Abstract
Dicobalt hexacarbonyl complexes of alkynyl imines were allowed to react with ketenes via Staudinger reaction. Sequential [2 + 2] cycloaddition/Pauson-Khand reaction led to structurally new fused-tricyclic beta-lactams and fused-azabicyclic cyclopentenones. Chemoselectivity, scope, and limitation of the process were investigated.
