Abstract
The functionality of p-sulfonatocalix[4]arenes can be easily extended using the propargylation/CuAAC reaction sequence, which allows the introduction of up to four substituted triazole units to the narrow rims of the macrocycles while maintaining their cone shapes and water solubility and, thus, biomedical applicability.

Abstract
A new series of supramolecular assemblies is obtained through the interaction of 3-pyridylmethyl-calixarenes and copper or zinc ions. The complexes formed are characterized both in solution and in the solid state. The results offer appealing insights into how the steric crowding of the lower rim and different coordination modes of the metal centers have a great impact on the overall architecture of the complexes with the formation of monomeric, dimeric, or oligomeric/polymeric species.

Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases are multifactorial disorders related to protein aggregation, metal dyshomeostasis, and oxidative stress. To advance understanding in this area and to contribute to therapeutic development, many efforts have been directed at devising suitable agents that can target metal ions associated with relevant biomolecules such as α-synuclein. This paper presents a new cyclodextrin-8-hydroxyquinoline conjugate and discusses the properties of four cyclodextrins 3-functionalized with 8-hydroxyquinoline as copper(II) chelators and inhibitors of copper-induced synuclein aggregation. The encouraging results establish the potential of cyclodextrin-8-hydroxyquinoline conjugates as chelators for the control of copper toxicity.

Abstract
A consistent, reliable scale of Lewis basicity in dichloromethane for 26 bases, involving amines and nonprotogenic solvents, is presented. A Lewis acidic Zn(II) Schiff-base complex, involving formation of stable 1:1 adducts is used as reference acid. Evaluation of binding constants is achieved from spectrophotometric titrations, by the least-squares nonlinear regression of multiwavelength spectrophotometric data. This Lewis basicity scale represents a unique set of data reflecting the actual Lewis basicity with respect this "real world" Lewis acidic species. The comparison of present Lewis basicity scale with data reported in the literature indicates that while for the involved solvents their relative basicity is scarcely affected by the reference Lewis acid, in contrast for sterically encumbered amines the Lewis basicity seems to be dependent from the reference species. Thus, Lewis basicity is governed by the steric hindrance at the donor atom and involves very different relative basicities than those predicted considering typical reference Lewis acids. This is expected to have a major involvement in the organic synthesis and catalysis, given the sterically encumbered nature of commonly involved Lewis acidic organometallic complexes.
