Abstract
A recyclable and efficient heterogeneous, green catalyst based on the synthesis of Keggin-type polyoxometalate (H3PMo12O40) and vitamin B1 analogue 3-ethyl-5-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-methylthiazol-3-ium (HEMT), i.e., [HEMTH]H2[PMo12O40] was prepared. Oxa-Pictet–Spengler cyclization of arylethanols and aldehydes were catalyzed to afford various substituted isochromans in moderate conditions with excellent yields using dimethyl carbonate (DMC) as a green solvent. Furthermore, this protocol was applicable in a gram-scale reaction, and the catalyst could be recycled eight times without significant loss of activity. An efficient heterogeneous and green catalyst [HEMTH]H2[PMo12O40] was prepared to catalysis the oxa-Pictet–Spengler cyclization of arylethanols and aldehydes to afford isochromans with excellent yields using dimethyl carbonate as a green solvent.![]()

Abstract
A diastereoselective synthesis of the title compound as a single E diastereomer has been efficiently accomplished by assembling the featured pyrano-indole scaffold of the spiro[cyclohexane-dihydropyrano[3,4-b]-indole]-amine framework through an oxa-Pictet-Spengler reaction, promoted by a cheap and green Zeolite catalyst. Basic pharmacological experiments demonstrate that Cebranopadol acts as a mixed nociception/orphanin FQ (NOP) and mu (MOP) opioid receptor agonist useful for treatment of chronic pain.

Abstract
An inter- as well as intra-molecular thia-Pictet-Spengler cyclization of N-tethered thiols and vinylogous thiocarbonates is described for the stereoselective synthesis of N-fused thiazinoindole derivatives. The strategy is extended to one-pot, sequential Friedel-Crafts alkylation - Pictet-Spengler cyclization and the synthesis of thiazino-oxepino-indole.

Abstract
Working together: A mild and efficient isomerization/protonation sequence generates pyran-fused indoles by cooperative catalysis between cationic iridium(III) and Bi(OTf)3 . Three distinct cyclization manifolds lead to the corresponding bioactive scaffolds in good yields. In addition, N-substituted indoles can be synthesized enantioselectively in the presence of a chiral phosphate.

Abstract
This review covers uses of bismuth catalysts since 2005 with a special emphasis on the emerging applications of such catalysts. Low toxicity, low catalytic loading, synergistic effects with other catalysts, and some hydrocompatibility properties confer to bismuth salts major advantages. The expanding activity in the field clearly highlights the growing potential of bismuth catalysts. The article is not a comprehensive review on bismuth catalysis but a selection of its most promising uses in challenging synthetic transformations.

Abstract
This review article summarizes the applications of bismuth(III) compounds in organic synthesis since 2002. Although there are an increasing number of reports on applications of bismuth(III) salts in polymerization reactions, and their importance is acknowledged, they are not included in this review. This review is largely organized by the reaction type although some reactions can clearly be placed in multiple sections. While every effort has been made to include all relevant reports in this field, any omission is inadvertent and we apologize in advance for the same (358 references).
