Abstract
Cytosporaphenones D (1) and E (2), two new polyketones, and one new natural product 1,7-dihydroxy-6-methyl-8-formylxanthone (3), along with four known compounds, were isolated from Cytospora rhizophorae, an endophytic fungus from Morinda officinalis. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses and X-ray diffraction technique.

Abstract
We herein report the acid/base-steered two distinct reaction pathways of 2-acylbenzoic acids with isatoic anhydrides. In the presence of Na2CO3, the cascade process consists of the cyclization of 2-acetylbenzoic acid and nucleophilic ring-opening reaction of isatoic anhydride to furnish isobenzofuranone derivatives with high efficiency. However, p-toluenesulfonic acid can promote the product isobenzofuranones to undergo sequential intramolecular rearrangment, nucleophilic addition and cyclization reaction to produce diverse isoindolobenzoxazinones in good yields. The synthetic utility of this method was further demonstrated by the gram-scale preparation of the desired products and the facile transformations of the resulting products.

Abstract
A novel asymmetric phase-transfer-catalyzed γ-alkylation of phthalide 3-carboxylic esters has been developed, giving access to 3,3-disubstituted phthalide derivatives, which present a chiral quaternary γ-carbon in good to excellent yields and good enantioselectivities (74-88% ee). The enantiomeric purity could be substantially enhanced to 94-95% ee by recrystallization. Both electron-withdrawing and electron-releasing substituents are well tolerated on the phthalide core as well as on the aromatic moiety of the alkylating agent. This methodology, enabling the introduction of an unfunctionalized group at the phthalide γ-position, fully complements previously reported organocatalytic strategies involving functionalized electrophiles, thus expanding the scope of accessible 3,3-disubstituted products. The high synthetic value of this asymmetric reaction has been proven by the formal synthesis of the naturally occurring alkaloid (+)-(9S,13R)-13-hydroxyisocyclocelabenzine.

Abstract
An unprecedented strategy for the synthesis of enantioenriched 1-substituted 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans via an enantioselective oxa-Michael reaction of o-alkoxyboronate containing chalcone (II) has been accomplished employing cinchona alkaloid based squaramide bifunctional organocatalyst in the presence of proton source. The corresponding alkoxyboronate intermediates have been readily prepared in situ from o-formyl chalcones using neutral borane as hydride source and a tertiary amine moiety which is a counterpart of the catalyst.
