Abstract
Previously unknown entities in the form of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10-decahydroxydecalins (DHDs) have been conceptualized and the first member of this class, an inosito-inositol, has been synthesized from aromatic hydrocarbon naphthalene following a flexible strategy that is amenable to diversity creation. The DHD accessed here has been subjected to preliminary in silico evaluation with Aβ and may hold some promise in Alzheimer's disease therapeutics.

Abstract
The title compound, C11H8O5, features a 'skipped' diene, an anti-bis-(epoxide) and a cyclic carbonate, all embedded in a densely functionalized [4.4.3]propellane scaffold. The crystal packing of this diepoxide is effected primarily by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link the mol-ecules into tapes along the b axis. Inter-tape connectivity is brought about by centrosymmetrically disposed pairs of C⋯O contacts [3.183 (4) Å] between the C(δ+)=O(δ-) dipoles of neighbouring carbonate moieties.

Abstract
In an endeavor directed towards the construction of the oxabicyclic[3.2.1]octane segment present in the bioactive natural products of cortistatins and icetexanes genre, the title compound, C13H19BrO3, was synthesized from (4aR,9aS)-1,3,4,4a,5,6,9,9a-octahydrospiro[benzo[7]annulene-2,2′-[1,3]dioxolane]-4a-ol via a transannular bromo-etherification protocol. The six-membered ring adopts a twist-boat conformation, while the fused cycloheptane ring adopts a chair conformation. The crystal packing is effected through two distinct intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen-bond patterns and molecules are arranged to define an interesting motif along the b axis.

Abstract
A conformationally locked fluoropentol undergoes an interesting transformation to (trans,anti,trans,anti,trans)-perhydro-2,3,4a,6,7,8a-naphthalenehexol essentially under conditions of base-induced transesterification. The proposed rationale for the observed metamorphosis involves a nucleophilic displacement of fluoride, and subsequent stereo- and regioselective anti-Fürst-Plattner-type ring-opening of the epoxide thus formed.
