Antimony trichloride catalyzed three-component reaction of urea, aldehydes and cyclic enol ethers: a novel route to 4-arylhexahydrofuro[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2(3H)-ones

Importance of Hybrid Catalysts toward the Synthesis of 5H-Pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2-ones/2,4-diones (Thiones)

The pyranopyrimidine core is a key precursor for medicinal and pharmaceutical industries due to its broader synthetic applications as well as its bioavailability. Among its four possible isomers, we found that 5H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine scaffolds have a wide range of applicability, and in recent years, they have been intensively investigated, but the development of the main core is found to be more challenging due to its structural existence. In this review article, we cover all of the synthetic pathways that are employed for the development of substituted 4-aryl-octahydropyrano/hexahydrofuro[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-one (thiones) and 5-aryl-substituted pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidindione (2-thiones) derivatives through a one-pot multicomponent reaction using diversified hybrid catalysts such as organocatalysts, metal catalysts, ionic liquid catalysts, nanocatalysts, green solvents, catalyst-/solvent-free conditions, and miscellaneous catalysts as well as the mechanism and recyclability of the catalysts. This review mainly focuses on the application of hybrid catalysts (from 1992 to 2022) for the synthesis of 5H-pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine scaffolds. This review will definitely attract the world's leading researchers to utilize broader catalytic applications for the development of lead molecules.

Synthesis of Octahydropyrano[2,3-d]Pyrimidine Derivatives via Tetrahydropyrano[3,2-e][1,3]Thiazolo[3,2-a]Pyrimidine and 2,6-Dichlorobenzonitrile Oxide

N1-substituted octahydro-1 H-pyrano[2,3- d]pyrimidines derivatives were prepared in moderate yield by the reaction of methyl [(4a RS,5 SR,10a RS)-5-aryl-2-oxo-3,4,4 a,10 a-tetrahydro-2 H,5 H-pyrano[3,2- e][1,3]thiazolo[3,2- a]pyrimidin-8(9 H)-ylidene]acetate and 2,6-dichorobenzonitrile oxide via a domino 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition/ring-opening/dethionation process. The structures of the products were characterised by spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic analysis.

l-proline N-sulfonic acid-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles: a novel and magnetically reusable catalyst for one-pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2-(1H)-thiones under solvent-free conditions

Synthesis of 2-aryl-1,1-Bis(Silyl)Alkenes-Containing Tetrasubstituted Imidazoles Catalysed by M–Cu/ZSM-5 (M: Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, V, Zn and Fe) Zeolites-Supported Bimetallic Nanostructures

The one-pot synthesis of tetrasubstituted imidazoles by using a series of M-Cu/ZSM-5 (M: Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, V, Zn and Fe) zeolites-supported bimetallic catalysts was studied. Fe-Cu/ZSM-5 bimetallic oxide catalyst had the highest activity in improving the efficiency of the heterogeneous cyclo-condensation reaction. Some imidazole derivatives terminated by vinylbis(silanes) have been synthesised using (Me3Si)3CLi through the Peterson olefination reaction.

Mechanistic studies on Lewis acid catalyzed Biginelli reactions in ionic liquids: evidence for the reactive intermediates and the role of the reagents

This paper describes the use of common Lewis acids supported in imidazolium-based ionic liquids as the catalysts to promote the Biginelli reaction. The ionic liquid effect and the reaction mechanism are discussed on the basis of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and theoretical calculations. Indeed, the results showed that the ionic medium plays a fundamental role in the synthesis of biologically active dihydropyrimidinones due to the stabilization of the charged intermediates proposed in the mechanism. When conducted in an ionic liquid as solvent, the reaction mechanism is more complex than in other Lewis acid catalyzed Biginelli reactions.
