Abstract
We disclose a Michael/Conia-ene/SN2 cascade reaction for the synthesis of Indane-fused dihydrofurans from 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and 2-alkynylnitrostyrenes promoted by potassium carbonate in DMSO at room temperature. In this reaction, the nitro group has a chameleonic role, first as an electron-withdrawing group for the Michael addition, then the nitronate behaves as a nucleophile, and finally, the allylic nitro acts as a leaving group. The product is obtained as a single diastereomer, affording up to 82% with 1,3-keto esters and 58% with 1,3-diketones. Furthermore, DFT calculations of the reaction mechanism explained the chemoselective addition of the nitronate over the enolate to the unactivated triple bond, with the enolate addition being highly endothermic.

Abstract
A tandem Michael addition-cyclization of nitroalkenes with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds was developed using phase transfer catalyst (PTC), allowing for the synthesis of polysubstituted-[4,5]-dihydrofuran in high yields. A wide range of substrates were demonstrated by this one-step process. Meanwhile, nitro group was substituted to form corresponding nitrite ion detected in the aqueous phase providing a reasonable pathway for denitrating poisonous and explosive nitro-containing compounds. The proposed mechanism was also supported by our DFT calculations.

Abstract
Total synthesisis frequently compared to climbing as it provides a suitable route to reach a high point from the floor, the complex natural product from simple and commercially available materials. The total synthesis has a privileged position of trust in confirming the hypothetical complex structures of natural products despite sophisticated analytical and spectroscopic instrumentation and techniques that are available presently. Moreover, total synthesis is also useful to prepare rare bioactive natural products in the laboratory as several bioactive secondary metabolites are obtained in small quantities from natural sources. The artistic aspect of the total synthesis of bioactive natural products continues to be praised today as it may provide environmental protection through the concept of green or clean chemistry. The use of ultrasound waves as a non-polluting source of energy is of great interest in the field of sustainable and pharmaceutical chemistry as it differs from conventional energy sources in terms of reaction rates, yields, selectivities, and purity of the products. The present review highlights the application of ultrasound as a green tool in the total synthesis of bioactive natural products as well as this article is also aimed to offer an overview of natural sources, structures, and biological activities of the promising natural products for the first time from 2005 to 2020 elegantly.

Abstract
New types of organocatalytic 1,2-rearrangements, which resemble the Smiles-like or semi-pinacol-like rearrangement, of Michael adducts of 1,3-dicarbonyl-2-alkyl compounds and nitroalkenes have been realized. Unlike the well-known conjugate addition, the reaction affords the 1-phenyl-1-nitroalkanes via unprecedented rearrangement and cascade reactions. Structures of the appropriate products were unambiguously characterized by X-ray crystallography.

1,8-Diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene-mediated reactions of α-nitroketones with α-cyano-enones and α,β-unsaturated α-ketoesters have been developed. The products, namely, dihydrofurans and conjugated dienes, were isolated in moderate to good yields, and a range of substitutions were tolerated.

Abstract
The Michael addition-alkylation process between gem-benzoyl-nitrostyrenes and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds proceeded smoothly in the presence of a bifunctional squaramide, exclusively providing 2,3-dihydrofurans as trans-diastereomers in 33-92% isolated yields and excellent enantioselectivities (29->99% ee).

Abstract
An efficient and direct synthesis of 2-arylideneamino-3-aryl-4H-furo[3,2-c]chromen-4-ones has been developed via four-component reaction from substituted nitrostyrenes, aromatic aldehydes, coumarins, and ammonium acetate under very mild conditions, which involves sequentially a Michael addition, an aza-nucleophilic addition, of the imine to the double bond, an intermolecular nucleophilic addition and a dehydration reaction. The resulting biologically intriguing structures could have broad applications in related biomedical-program structures.

An environmentally benign, fast and convenient protocol has been developed for the Michael addition of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds to β-nitroalkenes in good to excellent yields by a grinding method under catalyst- and solvent-free conditions.
