Aqueous ring opening of N-tosylaziridine with aniline derivatives

B2(OH)4-Mediated Reductive Ring-Opening of N-Tosyl Aziridines by Nitroarenes: A Green and Regioselective Access to Vicinal Diamines

The nucleophilic ring-opening of aziridine derivatives provides an important synthetic tool for the preparation of various β-functionalized amines. Amines as nucleophiles are employed to prepare synthetically useful 1,2-diamines in the presence of various catalysts or activators. Herein, the B2(OH)4-mediated reductive ring-opening transformation of N-tosyl aziridines by nitroarenes was developed. This aqueous protocol employed nitroarenes as cheap and readily available amino sources and proceeds under external catalyst-free conditions. Control experiments and DFT calculations pointed to the in situ reduction of nitroarenes to aryl amines via N-aryl boramidic acid (E) and an SN1-type ring-opening of N-tosylaziridines by the resultant aryl amines with high regioselectivity.

Functionalized Polyamine Synthesis with Photoredox Catalysis

Polyamines, such as putrescine and spermidine, are pivotal in various biological processes across living organisms. Despite their significance, structurally modified polyamines offer a less-explored avenue for discovering bioactive compounds. The limitation is attributed to the synthetic difficulty of accessing functionalized polyamines. In this study, we accomplished photoredox-catalyzed functionalization of polyamines to diversify their structure. The rapid functionalization allows attaching fluorophores to the target polyamine, facilitating the development of molecular probes for advancing chemical biology studies.

Kinetics of the parallel-consecutive bimolecular reaction: a solution to the inverse problem involving the Lambert-W function

For the parallel-consecutive bimolecular reaction mechanism, a solution to the inverse kinetic problem can be approached directly using a characteristic equation specified in terms of the Lambert-W function, similar to the logarithmic and reciprocal plot-treatments for simple first and second order reaction kinetics, respectively.

Conformational-dependent reaction mechanism: case of acid hydrolysis ofN-benzoyl-9-azabicyclo[6.1.0]non-4-ene

Quantum chemical studies of the acid hydrolysis of cis-cis-N-benzoyl-9-azabicyclo[6.1.0]non-4-ene in gas phase and sulfuric acid solution have been carried out. Conformational analysis of reactant and intermediates were done at DFT level of calculations, using different basis sets. Transition states were identified and IRC calculations were done at the same level. In the first step of the reaction, the protonation occurs preferentially on the nitrogen atom. Three products are obtained. The type of mechanism, stepwise or concerted, depends on the stable conformers and the cleaved N–C bond. The main conclusion is that the products of the reaction depend on the nature of the stable conformer of the reactant.
