Abstract
Despite possessing numerous catalytic advantages of MOFs, developing 2D frameworks having excellent chemical stability along with new catalytic properties remains a grand challenge. Herein, by employing a mixed ligand synthetic approach, we have constructed a 2D Ni-MOF, IITKGP-52, which exhibits excellent framework robustness in open air, water, as well as over a wide range of aqueous pH solutions (2-12). Benefitting from its robustness and abundant Lewis acidic open metal sites (OMSs), IITKGP-52 is explored in catalyzing the heterogeneous three-component condensation reaction for the tandem synthesis of bioactive 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-pyran derivatives with low catalytic loading, greater compatibility for a wide range of substrates, excellent recyclability and superior catalytic efficiency than the previously employed homo and heterogeneous systems. IITKGP-52 inaugurates the employment of MOF-based catalysts for one-pot synthesis of therapeutic and bioactive 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-pyran derivatives.

Abstract
A unified method toward the synthesis of functionalized diazepines and quinazolines through reorganization of the molecular skeleton has been devised. The process is indulged by electrical energy via a domino N1-N2 bond cleavage followed by concomitant ring closing, initiating from cinnolines and indazoles as designed precursors. Additionally, an intermolecular ring homologation has also been established to synthesize densely functionalized dihydroquinazolines from 2,3-diaryl-indazoles and acetonitrile involving the same electrochemical strategy.

Abstract
Reaction of [VIVO(acac)2] (Hacac = acetylacetone) with a Mannich base, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butyl benzyl)-1,2-diaminoethane (H4L, I) in a 1:1 molar ratio in MeOH, leads to the formation of the nonoxidovanadium(IV) complex [VIVL] (1). Air stable complex 1 has been characterized using various spectroscopic techniques, DFT calculations, and single-crystal X-ray studies. 1 adopts distorted octahedral geometry where ligand coordinates through all coordination functionalities available. This complex has been used as a catalyst in the one-pot, three-component synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-pyrans using 1,3-dicarbonyls (1,3-cyclohexanedione, dimedone, barbituric acid, and 4-hydroxycoumarin), malononitrile, and various substituted aromatic aldehydes in equimolar amounts employing ethanol as a green solvent. The catalytic reaction revealed that the multicomponent synthesis of 4H-pyrans and chromenes is greatly influenced by both types of 1,3-dicarbonyl compound employed and the nature of the substituent on the aromatic ring of the aldehyde. Synthesized catalyst has also been used in the synthesis of pharmacologically relevant oxygen-containing heterocycles, specifically, 1,8-dioxo-octahydro-1H-xanthenes and biscoumarins. The possible mechanism for the synthesized one-pot, multicomponent product has been proposed by isolating intermediate(s) generated during synthesis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Succinate dehydrogenase is an important target of fungicides. Succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs) have widely been used to combat destructive plant pathogenic fungi because they possess efficient and broad-spectrum antifungal activities and as well as unique mode of action. The research and development of novel SDHIs have been ongoing. RESULTS Thirty-six novel quinolin-2(1H)-one derivatives were designed, synthesized and characterized. The single crystal structure of compound 3c was determined through the X-ray diffraction of single crystals. The bioassay results displayed that most compounds had good antifungal activities at 16 μg mL-1 against Rhizoctonia cerealis, Erysiphe graminis, Botrytis cinerea, Penicillium italicum and Phytophthora infestans. Compounds 6o, 6p and 6r had better antifungal activities than the commercialized fungicide pyraziflumid against Botrytis cinerea. Their half maximal effective concentration (EC50 ) values were 0.398, 0.513, 0.205 and 0.706 μg mL-1 , respectively. Moreover, the inhibiting activities of the bioactive compounds were tested against succinate dehydrogenase. The results indicated that they possessed outstanding activities. Compounds 6o, 6p and 6r also exhibited better inhibiting activities than pyraziflumid against succinate dehydrogenase. Their half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50 ) values were 0.450, 0.672, 0.232 and 0.858 μg mL-1 , respectively. The results of molecular dynamic (MD) simulations indicated that compound 6r displayed stronger affinity to succinate dehydrogenase than pyraziflumid. CONCLUSION The results of the present study displayed that quinolin-2(1H)-one derivative could be one scaffold of potential SDHIs and will provide some valuable information for the research and development of new SDHIs. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
3,4-dihydropyridin-2-ones are of considerable importance due to the large number of these core structures exhibiting a diverse array of biological and pharmacological activities. The Michael-type addition of 1,3-dithiane-2-carbothioates to α,β-unsaturated N-tosyl imines, followed by intramolecular annulation driven by a sulfur leaving group, provides a practical reaction cascade for the synthesis of a variety of substituted 3,4-dihydropyridin-2-ones. In this work, the reaction was carried out under solid–liquid phase transfer catalysis (SL-PTC) conditions at room temperature, in short reaction times in the presence of cheap Bu4N+HSO4– and solid KOH. The new PTC method exhibited adequate functional group tolerance, proving to be a green and reliable method and easy to scale up to furnish rapid access to 3,4-dihydropyridin-2-ones after desulfurization from simple, readily available starting materials.

Abstract
Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were synthesized by a green method using Azadirachta indica leaf extract. The structure of the prepared ZnO (NPs) were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM-EDX and TEM analyses. The biosynthesized ZnO (NPs) were then used as a catalyst for the synthesis of steroidal dihydropyrazole derivatives through a one-pot multicomponent reaction involving phenyl acetylene and hydrazine derivatives. The anticancer activity of newly synthesized compounds were evaluated against three cancer cell lines namely HeLa (human cervical carcinoma), Hep3B (human hepatocellular carcinoma) and MCF7 (human breast adenocarcinoma) by MTT assay. The tested compounds were found to be active against all cancer cell lines and less toxic towards normal peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Antioxidant activity have also been investigated via free radical scavenging ability using DPPH, FRAP and ABTS assay. The tested compounds were found to exhibit moderate to good antioxidant activity which increases with increase in the concentration of steroidal dihydropyrazoles. Among all the tested steroidal dihydropyrazoles, compound 17 is found to be most active.

Abstract
3,4-Dihydro-2(1H)-pyridones (3,4-DHPo) and their derivatives are privileged structures, which has increased their relevance due to their biological activity in front of a broad range of targets, but especially for their importance as synthetic precursors of a variety of compounds with marked biological activity. Taking into account the large number of contributions published over the years regarding this kind of heterocycle, here, we presented a current view of 3,4-dihydro-2(1H)-pyridones (3,4-DHPo). The review includes general aspects such as those related to nomenclature, synthesis, and biological activity, but also highlights the importance of DHPos as building blocks of other relevant structures. Additional to the conventional multicomponent synthesis of the mentioned heterocycle, nonconventional procedures are revised, demonstrating the increasing efficiency and allowing reactions to be carried out in the absence of the solvent, becoming an important contribution to green chemistry. Biological activities of 3,4-DHPo, such as vasorelaxant, anti-HIV, antitumor, antibacterial, and antifungal, have demonstrated this heterocycle's potential in medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
AbstractIn this research, cellulose grafted to chitosan by EDTA (Cs-EDTA-Cell) bio-based material is reported and characterized by a series of various methods and techniques such as FTIR, DRS-UV–Vis, TGA, FESEM, XRD and EDX analysis. In fact, the Cs-EDTA-Cell network is more thermally stable than pristine cellulose or chitosan. There is a plenty of both acidic and basic sites on the surface of this bio-based and biodegradable network, as a multifunctional organocatalyst, to proceed three-component synthesis of 2-amino-4H-pyran derivatives at room temperature in EtOH. The Cs-EDTA-Cell nanocatalyst can be easily recovered from the reaction mixture by using filtration and reused for at least five times without significant decrease in its catalytic activity. In general, the Cs-EDTA-Cell network, as a heterogeneous catalyst, demonstrated excellent catalytic activity in an environmentally-benign solvent to afford desired products in short reaction times and required simple experimental and work-up procedure compared to many protocols using similar catalytic systems.

Abstract
Since 2019, the infection of SARS-CoV-2 has been spreading worldwide and caused potentially lethal health problems. In view of this, the present study explores the most commodious and environmentally benign synthetic protocol for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran and pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidinones as SARS-CoV-2 inhibitors via three-component cycloaddition of aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile, and dimedone/barbituric acid in water. Lemon peel from juice factory waste, namely, lemon (Citrus limon), sweet lemon (C. limetta), and Kaffir lime or Citron (C. hystrix), effectually utilized to obtain WELPSA, WESLPSA, and WEKLPSA, respectively, for the synthesis of title compounds. The catalyst was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The concentration of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium in the catalyst (WELPSA) was determined using atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). The current approach manifests numerous notable advantages that include ease of preparation, handling and benignity of the catalyst, low cost, green reaction conditions, facile workup, excellent yields (93%-97%) with extreme purity, and recyclability of the catalyst. Compounds were docked on the crystal structure of SARS-CoV-2 (PDB: 6M3M). The consensus score obtained in the range 2.47-4.63 suggests that docking study was optimistic indicating the summary of all forces of interaction between ligands and the protein.

Abstract
One of the main drawbacks of supported ionic liquids is their low loading and consequently, low activity of the resultant catalysts. To furnish a solution to this issue, a novel heterocyclic ligand with multi imine sites was introduced on the surface of amino-functionalized halloysite support via successive reactions with 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine and 2-aminopyrimidine. Subsequently, the imine sites were transformed to sulfonic acid-based ionic liquids via reaction with 1,4-butanesultone. Using this strategy, high loading of ionic liquid was loaded on halloysite nanoclay. The supported ionic liquid was then characterized with XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, FTIR, BET, TGA and elemental mapping analysis and utilized as a metal-free Brønsted acid catalyst for promoting one-pot reaction of aldehydes, dimedone and malononitrile to furnish tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans. The catalytic tests confirmed high performance of the catalyst. Moreover, the catalyst was stable upon recycling.

and compared with respect to the promotion of Knoevenagel condensation and synthesis of benzo[
b] pyran derivatives to see the effect of the anionic counter-part in the reaction.
Material and method:
In a 25 mL round-bottomed flask, a mixture of aldehyde (1.0 mmol), 1,3--
cyclo dicarbonyl (2.0 mmol), and the desired amount of the above-mentioned acidic ionic liquids
was heated at 90°C in the absence of solvent (Reaction A). In a 25 mL round-bottomed flask, a
mixture of aldehyde (1.0 mmol), 1,3-cyclo dicarbonyl (1.0 mmol), malononitrile, (1.1 mmol) and
calculated amounts of the ionic liquid in water (3.0 mL) was heated at 80°C (Reaction B) for the appropriated
time. After the completion of the reaction which was monitored by TLC of (n-hexane:
EtOAc; 3:1). 10 mL of water was added and the mixture was stirred for 2 minutes. Then, the products
were separated by filtration and washed several times with water, after drying, the pure products
were obtained.
Results:
Comparison of the obtained results from both the ionic liquids revealed that [H2-
Bisim][HSO4]2, because of its more acidic structure, had shown a more catalytic activity in the preparation
of 1,8-dioxo-octahydro-xanthene derivatives but [H2-Bisim][ClO4]2 was relatively more efficient
for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives. Because the stronger acidic nature
of [H2-Bisim][HSO4]2 may prevent the simple activation of malononitrile in the reaction media.
Conclusion:
In this study, we have introduced efficient methods for the synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydro-
xanthene and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives in the presence of catalytic amounts of
[H2-Bisim][ClO4]2 and [H2-Bisim][HSO4]2. These methods have several advantages such as ease of
preparation and handling of the catalysts, high reaction rates, excellent yields, eco-friendly procedures,
and simple work-up.

Abstract
AbstractAn efficient simple, metal-free, one-pot protocol for the synthesis of dihydropyrrole derivatives has been achieved via sequential addition of iodobenzenediacetate and secondary amine to 2-amino-4H- pyran derivatives. The one-pot protocol proceeds through tandem oxidative functionalization, rearrangement, and ring contraction to provide an entirely new strategy for the construction of the dihydropyrrole skeleton.

Abstract
AbstractCopper ferrite (CuFe2O4) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized via thermal decomposition and applied as a reusable and green catalyst in the synthesis of functionalized 4H-pyran derivatives using malononitrile, an aromatic aldehyde, and a β-ketoester in ethanol at room temperature. The nanoparticles were characterized by FT-IR, EDX, SEM, TGA, and DTG analysis. The catalyst was recovered from the reaction mixture by applying an external magnet and decanting the mixture. Recycled catalyst was reused for several times without significant loss in its activity. Running the one-pot three-component reaction at room temperature, using a green solvent under environmentally friendly reaction conditions, ease of catalyst recovery and recyclability, no need for column chromatography and good to excellent yields are advantages of this protocol.

Abstract
Background:
The present method is facile, green and effective for the synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-pyran
derivatives which are obtained by one-pot three-component condensation reactions of aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile
and methyl acetoacetate using diammonium hydrogen phosphate (DAHP) in aqueous ethanol at room temperature.
Methods:
2-Amino-3-cyano-4H-pyrans were synthesized through a one-pot three-component tandem Knoevenagel cyclocondensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile, and methyl acetoacetate in the presence of 10 mol% of
DAHP as a catalyst under aqueous ethanol medium at room temperature. All obtained structures were confirmed by their
physical constant, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy, also elemental analyses for new derivatives.
Results:
Three-component synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano-4H-pyrans catalyzed by DAHP with aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile and methyl acetoacetate in aqueous ethanol medium at room temperature was prepared. The achieved derivatives
(nine entries) were well synthesized in excellent yields.
Conclusion:
The present method is straightforward, quick, and most efficient green protocol for the synthesis of 2-amino3-cyano-4H-pyran derivatives using highly inexpensive, easily handle and, nontoxic DAHP as an efficient catalyst in
aqueous ethanol medium at room temperature.

Abstract
This paper presents the efficient synthesis of 2-amino-4H-benzo[b]pyrans using mesoporous poly-melamine-formaldehyde as a polymeric heterogeneous catalyst. According to the principals of green chemistry, the reaction was performed by the planetary ball milling process at ambient and neat conditions. The heterogeneous catalyst could be reused up to five runs with no reducing of catalytic efficiency. A variety of substituted 2-amino-4H-benzo[b]pyrans were obtained in good to excellent yields under eco-friendly conditions. Other advantages of the current methodology include short reaction time, wide substrate-scope, and use of a metal-free polymeric catalyst. Also, the current method avoids the use of hazardous reagents and solvents, tedious workup and multi-step purification. This work revealed that porous organic polymers containing Lewis base sites having acceptor-donner hydrogen bonding functional groups, and high porosity could play a vital role in the promotion of the one-pot multicomponent reactions in the solid-phase synthesis.

Abstract
Four-component reaction between primary amines, dialkylacetylendicarboxylates, tetrazolo[1,5-a] quinoline-4-carbaldehyde and ethyl-2-cyanoacetate in the presence of 1,4-diaza-bicyclo[2.2.2]octane and zinc oxide nanoparticles results to the regioselective production of new tetrazolo[1,5-a]quinoline-based 2-amino-1,4-dihydropyridine or pyridin-2(1H)-one derivatives in good to high yields. The selectivity of the catalyzed reaction toward the generation of the dihydropyridine or pyridin-2(1H)-one derivatives was found to be strongly dependent on the size of the alkyl groups in the ester moieties of the acetylenic esters. According to single-crystal X-ray diffraction and NMR studies, the pyridin-2(1H)-one derivatives involve a restricted rotation around the C-C bond connecting the tetrazoloquinoline and dihydropyridinone cyclic systems.

Abstract
We describe herein a unique approach to synthesize zinc oxide-silica-silver (ZnO-SiO2-Ag) nanocomposite, in a simple, one-pot process. The typical process for ZnO synthesis by alkaline precipitation of zinc salts has been tweaked to replace alkali by alkaline sodium silicate. The free acid from zinc salts helps in the synthesis of silica nanoparticles, whereas the alkalinity of sodium silicate precipitates the zinc salts. Addition of silver ions into the reaction pot prior to addition of sodium silicate, and subsequent reduction by borohydride, gives additional functionality of metallic centres for catalytic applications. The synthesis strategy is based on our recent work typically involving acid-base type of cross-reactions and demonstrates a novel strategy to synthesize nanocomposites in a one-pot approach. Each component in the composite offers a unique feature. ZnO besides displaying mild catalytic and anti-bacterial behaviour is an excellent and a cheap 3-D support for heterogeneous catalysis. Silver nanoparticles enhance the catalytic & anti-bacterial properties of ZnO. Silica is an important part of the composite; which not only "glues" the two nanoparticles thereby stabilizing the nanocomposite, but also significantly enhances the surface area of the composite; which is an attractive feature of any catalyst composite. The nanocomposite is found to show excellent catalytic performance with very high turnover frequencies (TOFs) when studied for catalytic reduction of Rhodamine B (RhB) and 4-Nitrophenol (4-NP). Additionally, the composite has been tested for its anti-bacterial properties on three different bacterial strains i.e. E. coli, B. Cereus and Bacillus firmus. The mechanism for enhancement of catalytic performance has been probed by understanding the role of silica in offering accessibility to the catalyst via its porous high surface area network. The nanocomposite has been characterized by a host of different analytical techniques. The uniqueness of our product and process stems from the novel synthesis strategy, the choice and combination of the three moieties, increased surface area offered by silica, and cost effectiveness, thereby making our product and process commercially viable and sustainable for industrial applications.
