Abstract
The spectral properties and solvatochromic behavior of boron difluoride ortho-hydroxydibenzoylmethanates in polymer matrices with different polarity (polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, poly(methyl methacrylate)) were investigated. The specific interaction of polystyrene, polycarbonate and poly(methyl methacrylate) with the investigated fluorophores was revealed. It was shown that the dyes are capable to form exciplexes with phenyl rings of polystyrene. The spectral properties of polystyrene films doped with boron difluoride ortho-hydroxydibenzoylmethanates, which were obtained by the pouring method, significantly depend on the solvent from which they were formed. This makes it possible to control the luminescence color of the films at the manufacturing stage.

Abstract
We have used the fluorescence detection of phase transformation dynamics of organic compounds by photochemical methods to observe a real-time symmetry breaking process. The organic fluorescent molecules vary the fluorescence spectra depending on molecular aggregated states, implying fluorescence spectroscopy can be applied to probe the evolution of the molecular-assembling process. As an example, the amorphous-to-crystal phase transformation and crystallization with symmetry breaking at droplet during the solvent evaporation of mechanofluorochromic molecules are represented in this review.

Abstract
Four tetrahedral silicon-centered derivatives of dibenzoylmethanatoboron difluoride (DBMBF2 ) were synthesized and characterized. Their structural and optical features both in solution and the solid state were investigated by using X-ray crystallography, steady-state and time-dependent spectroscopy, and DFT-based calculations. In dilute solutions, the molar absorption coefficient increases from 40500 to 175200 M-1 cm-1 as the number of DBMBF2 fragments in a molecule increases from one to four, while, in contrast, the nonradiative rate constant of fluorescence decay decreases from 0.49 to 0.34. In the solid state, absorption and emission spectra depend on the degree of crystallinity and microcrystal size. The tris-DBMBF2 derivative forms fully overlapping dimeric structures that exhibit excimer-like fluorescence, which is accurately predicted by the quantum-chemical calculations. The mono-DBMBF2 derivative exhibits fully reverse mechanofluorochromic behavior.

Abstract
This paper presents the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties of o-carborane derivatives and proposes a potential strategy for constructing AIE-active organoboron complexes via the enhancement of freedom of intramolecular mobility. Initially, the optical properties of o-carborane derivatives with or without the fused ring structure at the C–C bond in o-carborane in which elongation should be induced by photo-excitation according to theoretical calculations were compared. Accordingly, it was shown that large mobility at the C–C bond in o-carborane should be responsible for the annihilation of emission in solution, leading to the AIE property. From this result, it was presumed that by enhancing the freedom of intramolecular mobility in conventional luminescent organoboron complexes, the deactivation of the excited state in solution and emission recovery in the aggregate can be induced. Based on this idea, we have performed several studies and introduce two representative results. Firstly, the decrease in luminescent properties of boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) in solution by introducing a movable functional group is explained. Next, the AIE behaviors of boron ketoiminates and the potential mechanism concerning conformational changes for the deactivation of the excited state in the solution state are illustrated. It is proposed that enhancement of the freedom of mobility in the excited state of luminescent organoboron complexes could be a potential strategy for realizing AIE behaviors.

Abstract
The synthesis and the solution/solid-state fluorescence properties of pyrimidine-based monoboron complexes differing in terms of the substituents [either two fluorine atoms (BF2 complex) or two phenyl groups (BPh2 complex)] on the boron atom are reported herein. Unrestricted C-Ar intramolecular rotation in the non-, trifluoromethyl-, and cyano-substituted derivatives resulted in negligible fluorescence in solution. On the other hand, methoxy- and dimethylamino-substituted analogues caused the restriction of the C-Ar intramolecular rotation and consequently resulted in relatively strong fluorescence in solution. The non-, trifluoromethyl-, and cyano-substituted derivatives showed a pronounced aggregation-induced emission enhancement effect. Dimethylamino-substituted derivatives exhibited solvatochromism in the fluorescence spectra. Substitution with BPh2 effectively enhanced the fluorescence quantum yield compared to the corresponding BF2 complexes in the solid-state.
