Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) have unique physicochemical properties that make them advantageous for catalysis, such as low vapor pressure, non-flammability, high thermal and chemical stabilities, and the ability to enhance the activity and stability of (bio)catalysts. ILs can improve the efficiency, selectivity, and sustainability of bio(transformations) by acting as activators of enzymes, selectively dissolving substrates and products, and reducing toxicity. They can also be recycled and reused multiple times without losing their effectiveness. ILs based on imidazolium cation are preferred for structural organization aspects, with a semiorganized layer surrounding the catalyst. ILs act as a container, providing a confined space that allows modulation of electronic and geometric effects, miscibility of reactants and products, and residence time of species. ILs can stabilize ionic and radical species and control the catalytic activity of dynamic processes. Supported IL phase (SILP) derivatives and polymeric ILs (PILs) are good options for molecular engineering of greener catalytic processes. The major factors governing metal, photo-, electro-, and biocatalysts in ILs are discussed in detail based on the vast literature available over the past two and a half decades. Catalytic reactions, ranging from hydrogenation and cross-coupling to oxidations, promoted by homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts in both single and multiphase conditions, are extensively reviewed and discussed considering the knowledge accumulated until now.

Abstract
The current study deals with the synthesis and characterization of a novel catalyst made from diphenhydramine hydrochloride and CuCl ([HDPH]Cl-CuCl). The prepared catalyst was thoroughly characterized using various techniques, such as 1H NMR, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis and derivative thermogravimetry. More importantly, the observed hydrogen bond between the components was proven experimentally. The activity of this catalyst was checked in the preparation of some new derivatives of tetrahydrocinnolin-5(1H)-ones via a multicomponent reaction between dimedone, aromatic aldehydes, and aryl/alkyl hydrazines in ethanol as a green solvent. Also, for the first time, this new homogeneous catalytic system was effectively used for the preparation of unsymmetric tetrahydrocinnolin-5(1H)-one derivatives as well as mono- and bis-tetrahydrocinnolin-5(1H)-ones from two different aryl aldehydes and dialdehydes, respectively. The effectiveness of this catalyst was further confirmed by the preparation of compounds containing both tetrahydrocinnolin-5(1H)-one and benzimidazole moieties from dialdehydes. The one-pot operation, mild conditions, rapid reaction, and high atom economy, along with the recyclability and reusability of the catalyst, are other notable features of this approach.

Abstract
The development of highly efficient non-precious metal catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is key for large-scale hydrogen evolution through water splitting technology. Here, we report an air-stable Cu-based nanostructure consisting of Mn doped CuCl and CuO (CuCl/CuO(Mn)-NF) as a dual functional electrocatalyst for water splitting. CuCl is identified as the main active component, together with Mn doping and the synergistic effect between CuCl and CuO are found to make responsibility for the excellent OER and HER catalytic activity and stability. The assembled electrolyzes also exhibit decent water splitting performance. This work not only provides a simple method for preparing Cu-based composite catalyst, but also demonstrates the great potential of Cu-based non-noble metal electrocatalysts for water splitting and other renewable energy conversion technologies.

Abstract
A hydroxylamine modified polypropylene fibre [Pd(II)-AOFs] was synthesised and used to catalyse the Sonogashira reaction between phenylacetylene and iodobenzene. The results showed that highly efficient catalytic activity can be achieved for the cross-coupling reaction. More importantly, the reaction conditions are moderate and do not require inert gas protection. The catalyst could be readily extracted by simple operations and conveniently recycled four times without an obviously significant decrease in activity.

Inorganic-organic hybrid silica based tin complex as a novel, highly efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the one-pot preparation of spirooxindoles in water. Abstract
In the present study, a tin complex immobilized on silica gel as a novel, green, highly efficient and heterogeneous reusable catalyst was synthesized by grafting 2-amino benzamide onto the silica gel surface as a result of the reaction between isatoic anhydride and 3-aminopropyl-functionalized silica gel, followed by complexing with tin chloride. The resulting organic-inorganic hybrid material was evaluated in the one-pot three-component synthesis of spiro[indoline-pyrazolo[4',3':5,6]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine]trione derivatives in water via the condensation reaction of isatins, barbituric acids, and 1H-pyrazol-5-amines. All the reactions were completed in short reaction times and all the products were obtained in high to excellent yields with high purity. In addition, the synthesized novel catalyst could be separated from the reaction mixture by simple filtration and can be reused up to seven runs without significant loss in activity.

Abstract
Ergosterol and its derivatives have attracted much attention for a variety of health benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. However, ergosterol esters are advantageous because this compound has better solubility than the free ergosterol. In this work, ergosterol laurate was efficiently synthesized for the first time by direct esterification in a solvent-free system. The desired product was purified, characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance, and finally confirmed to be ergosterol laurate. Meanwhile, the effect of various catalysts, catalyst dose, reaction temperature, substrate molar ratio, and reaction time were studied. Both the conversion of ergosterol and the selectivity of the desired product can reach above 89% under the selected conditions: sodium dodecyl sulfate + hydrochloric acid as the catalyst, 2:1 molar ratio of lauric acid/ergosterol, catalyst dose of 4% (w/w), 120 °C, and 2 h. The oil solubility of ergosterol and its laurate was also compared. The results showed that the solubility of ergosterol in oil was significantly improved by direct esterification with lauric acid, thus greatly facilitating the incorporation into a variety of oil-based systems.
