Abstract
Palladium has attracted a growing number of attention due to its widely application and environmental toxicity. Consequently, a novel colorimetric and fluorescent turn-on probe (NT-Pd) was designed for sensing of palladium. This probe was capable of detecting palladium in aqueous solution (DMSO was less than 1%, v/v). Under this mild condition, NT-Pd displayed high selectivity and sensitivity for sensing of palladium in both colorimetric and fluorescent strategy, such as low detection limit (5.30 nM) and rapid response time (within 10 min). In addition, NT-Pd was successfully applied for imaging of exogenous palladium in living cells and zebrafishes with good biocompatibility and low toxicity, indicating this probe has satisfactory application potential to track palladium in the complicated biological system.

Abstract
Herein, a boronic acid-based sensor was reported selectively to recognize Pd2+ ion. The fluorescence intensity increased 36-fold after sensor binding with 2.47 × 10-5 M of Pd2+ ion. It was carried out in the 99% aqueous solution for binding tests, indicating sensor having good water solubility. In addition, it is discernible that Pd2+ ion turned on the blue fluorescence of sensor under a UV-lamp (365 nm), while other ions (Ag+, Al3+, Ba2+, Ca2+, Cr2+, Cd2+, Co2+, Cs2+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, K+, Li+, Mg2+, Mn2+, Na+, Ni2+ and Zn2+) did not show the similar change. Furthermore, sensor has a low limit of detection (38 nM) and high selectivity, which exhibits the potential for the development of Pd2+ recognition in practical environments.

Abstract
A new coumarin-rhodamine conjugate is used as a specific probe for Pd(2+) ions and this could even delineate Pd(II) from Pd(0) or Pd(IV) in aqueous buffer medium (pH ∼ 7). Laser confocal microscopic studies reveal that efficient cellular internalization of this reagent helps in imaging the cellular uptake of Pd(2+) as low as 0.1 ppm in Hct 116 cells. This reagent could even be used for estimation of Pd(2+) in human urine samples.
