Abstract
Tea infected with bird's eye spot disease generally imparts a long-lasting bitter taste, which is unacceptable to most consumers. This study has comprehensively evaluated the taste profiles of infected and healthy teas and investigated their known bitter compounds previously reported in tea. Quantification analyses and calculation of dose-over-threshold (DoT) factors revealed that no obvious difference was visualized in catechins, caffeine, bitter amino acids, and flavonols and their glycosides between infected and healthy tea samples, which was also verified by principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). Therefore, these known bitter compounds have been ruled out as critical contributors to the long-lasting bitterness of infected teas. Furthermore, Gel permeation chromatography, sensory analysis, and UPLC-Q-TOF-MS were employed and identified 13 substances from the target bitter fractions, including caffeine, ten triterpenoids, and two oxylipins. The higher triterpenoid levels were supposed to be the reason causing the long-lasting bitterness. This study has provided a research direction for the molecular basis of the long-lasting bitterness of infected tea leaves with bird's eye spot disease.

Abstract
Three acylated saponins and three flavonoid glycosides, along with nine known flavonoids, were isolated from the fruits of Stewartia koreana Nakai ex Rehder (Theaceae) using relative mass defect filtering analysis. The structures of these compounds were determined by performing spectroscopic analyses and using chemical methods. Furthermore, all the isolates were evaluated for their effects on the mRNA expression of the genes for proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) and low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) as well as their inhibitory activities on PCSK9 and LDLR binding. None of the isolates was deemed to be active in PCSK9-LDLR binding inhibition. However, (+)-catechin was found to inhibit PCSK9 expression and increase LDLR expression, suggesting the potential of (+)-catechin to lower cholesterol level via the downregulation of PCSK9 expression.

Abstract
Seven new polyhydroxylated oleanane-type triterpene saponins, arenarosides A-G (1-7), together with four known compounds, were isolated from an ethanol extract of the aerial parts of the Vietnamese plant Polycarpaea arenaria. The chemical structures of the newly isolated oleanane saponins were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic and spectrometric analysis, especially 2D NMR and HRMS. Biological evaluation revealed that 3, 4, 6, and 7 showed moderate activities against four human cancer cell lines (A549, HTC116, PC3, and RT112) with IC50 values of 6.0-9.9 μM, and 3, 4, 5, and 7 also displayed promising antiangiogenesis effects with IC50 values <5 μM in the test system used. Among the isolates, arenaroside D (4) exhibited the most potent inhibitory effects, not only in cancer cell proliferation but also in angiogenic activities. Preliminary SAR studies revealed that the presence of an acetyl group at C-22 in oleanane-type triterpene saponins increases these bioactivities.

Abstract
Using various chromatographic separations, three new acylated flavonoid glycosides, namely barringosides G-I (1-3), were isolated from the water-soluble extract of Barringtonia racemosa branches and leaves. The structure elucidation was performed by extensive analysis of the 1D and 2D NMR and HR-QTOF-MS data. Of the isolated compounds, barringoside I (3) showed moderate inhibitory effects on LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells with an IC50 of 52.48 ± 1.04 µM.
