Preparative-scale synthesis of amino coumarins through new sequential nitration and reduction protocol

Persulfate-nitrogen doped graphene mixture as an oxidant for the synthesis of 3-nitro-4-aryl-2H-chromen-2-ones from aryl alkynoate esters and nitrite

A series of 3-nitro-4-aryl-2H-chromen-2-ones in good yields have directly been obtained from aryl alkynoate esters and nitrite by employing a mixture of K₂S₂O₈-nitrogen doped graphene as an oxidant in a watery medium at room temperature. A plausible mechanism for the reaction is also reported. It reveals that the product is formed through a cascade of nitro radical addition, spirocyclization, and ester migration. When compared to known methods for the synthesis of 3-nitro-4-aryl-2H-chromen-2-ones from aryl alkynoate esters, this protocol is environmentally friendly, sustainable, practical and energy efficient and does not use a harmful nitro source. Furthermore, nitrogen doped graphene used in this approach can be easily recovered and reused at least four times without losing its activity.

A sustainable approach towards the three-component synthesis of unsubstituted 1H-imidazoles in the water at ambient conditions

A green protocol for the synthesis of unsubstituted imidazoles has been demonstrated herein. The reaction is realized using commercially available lipase enzyme, porcine pancreas lipase (PPL) in water. The reaction conditions are selective and mild which helped to tolerate a wide variety of functional groups to give the desired products in good chemical yields.[Formula: see text].

Ultrasensitive and selective fluorescent sensor for cysteine and application to drug analysis and bioimaging

A fluorescent sensor based on coumarin-maleimide conjugate was developed for efficient discrimination of Cys from Hcy and GSH in both organic and aqueous solution. Addition of Cys to the non-fluorescent sensor solution in DMF induced bright blue fluorescence and enhanced the fluorescence intensity by 320-fold while other amino acids and biothiols (Gly, Hcy, GSH, Glu, Val, Tyr, Arg, Trp, Lys, His, Leu, Phe, Asp and Met) did not bring about remarked change. The sensor responds to Cys extremely rapidly. If Cys was added to the sensor solution, the fluorescence intensity increased by 170-fold immediately and attained the maximum value in 5 min. A linear relationship was observed between Cys concentration within 2-20 μM and the fluorescence intensity of the sensor solution. The detection limit of the sensor toward Cys is as low as 4.7 nM. The sensor is also effective for specific detection of Cys in aqueous (DMF/H₂O = 9:1, v/v) solution. Practical application of the sensor to drug analysis and bioimaging of living Hela cells has been verified. Possible sensing mechanism of the sensor toward Cys has been proposed.

Overview on developed synthesis procedures of coumarin heterocycles

Considering highly valuable biological and pharmaceutical properties of coumarins, the synthesis of these heterocycles has been considered for many organic and pharmaceutical chemists. This review includes the recent research in synthesis methods of coumarin systems, investigating their biological properties and describing the literature reports for the period of 2016 to the middle of 2020. In this review, we have classified the contents based on co-groups of coumarin ring. These reported methods are carried out in the classical and non-classical conditions particularly under green condition such as using green solvent, catalyst and other procedures.

Novel 4-Methylumbelliferone Amide Derivatives: Synthesis, Characterization and Pesticidal Activities

A series of novel 4-methylumbelliferone amide derivatives were designed, synthesized and characterized by ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR and HR-ESI-MS. The structures of compounds 4bd and 4be (compounds named by authors) were further confirmed by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The acaricidal, herbicidal and antifungal activities of the synthesized compounds were assayed for their potential use as pesticide. The results indicated that compounds 4bi, 4ac and 4bd were strong acaricidals against Tetranychus cinnabarinus, with 72h corrected mortalities of greater than 80% at 1000 mg/L. Meanwhile, compounds 4bh and 4bf exhibit the strongest inhibition against the taproot development of Digitaria sanguinalis and Chenopodium glaucum, and were even more potent than the commercial herbicide Acetochlor against D. sanguinalis. In addition, compounds 4bk, 4bh and 4bp showed the highest antifungal activity against the mycelium growth of Valsa mali, which makes them more effective than commercial fungicide Carbendazim.
