Metal-free TBAI-catalyzed oxidative Csp3S bond formation through Csp2Csp2 bond and S N bond cleavage: A new route to β-keto-Sulfones

Synthesis of ester-functionalized indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines via iron-catalyzed radical cascade cyclization of 2-aryl-N-acryloyl indoles with carbazates

An FeCl₂·4H₂O-catalyzed oxidative alkoxycarbonylation/cyclization reaction of 2-aryl-N-acryloyl indoles with carbazates leading to ester-functionalized indolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives has been developed. The reaction features mild reaction conditions and broad functional group tolerance. Moreover, the ester group could be easily converted to the corresponding free acid and alcohol, and has high potential applications in organic and pharmaceutical synthesis. A radical pathway was proposed to explain this experiment.

One-Pot Synthesis of Symmetrical and Asymmetrical 3-Amino Diynes via Cu(I)-Catalyzed Reaction of Enaminones with Terminal Alkynes

An economical and efficient protocol for the direct construction of amino skipped diynes through the Cu(I)-catalyzed reaction of enaminones and terminal alkynes has been described. Different kinds of symmetrical and asymmetrical 3-amino diynes could be obtained in up to 83% yield through a one-pot reaction under mild conditions.

Recent advances in the synthesis and applications of β-keto sulfones: new prospects for the synthesis of β-keto thiosulfones

This review mainly focuses on recent developments in the preparation of β-keto sulfones and their extensive synthetic applications. New prospects for the synthesis of β-keto thiosulfones have also been highlighted. Over the last decade, there has been exponential growth in the direct construction of β-keto sulfones using a wide variety of keto and sulfonyl precursors. Of note, the most promising photoredox transformations and electrochemical synthesis methods of β-keto sulfones are also presented. Moreover, β-keto sulfones are versatile building blocks in organic synthesis due to their three essential functional groups: sulfonyl, carbonyl, and active methylene moieties. The convenient preparation of β-keto sulfones allows the synthesis of many valuable carbocyclic and heterocyclic compounds, and the effortless removal of the sulfonyl moiety via transformations is supported. The chemistry of β-keto sulfones (2013 to present) can be divided into several sections based on the sulfonyl surrogates, and ubiquitous synthetic strategies were systematically outlined.

Recent Advances in Organic Synthesis Based on N,N-Dimethyl Enaminones

Enaminones are gaining increasing interest because of their unique properties and their importance in organic synthesis as versatile building blocks. N,N-Dimethyl enaminones offer a better leaving group (a dimethylamine group) than other enaminones, and allow further elaboration via a range of facile chemical transformations. Over the past five years, there have been an increasing number of reports describing the synthetic applications of N,N-dimethyl enaminones. This review provides a comprehensive overview on the synthetic applications of N,N-dimethyl enaminones that have been reported since 2016.

Selectfluor-triggered fluorination/cyclization of o-hydroxyarylenaminones: A facile access to 3-fluoro-chromones

A fast and efficient Selectfluor-triggered fluorination/cyclization reaction of o-hydroxyarylenaminones has been successfully developed. The reaction successfully provides an expedient method for the synthesis of 3-fluoro-chromones promoted by potassium carbonate, which shows readily available starting materials and is easy to operate. In addition, a plausible mechanism of this tandem cyclization reaction was proposed where 4 H-chromen-4-one, 2-(dimethylamino)-3,3-difluorochroman-4-one, and 3,3-difluoro-2-hydroxychroman-4-one were not found to be the reactive intermediates. Moreover, these novel compounds have been obtained in moderate to good yields, and their structures have been confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry.
