Abstract
Reactions with diverse C1 synthons to realize homologation were well explored. However, homologations occurring twice with one C1 synthon in a reaction were less reported. We disclose herein a Cu(II)-catalyzed novel and efficient synthesis of 2H-chromenes from 2-naphthols, 1,3-diketones, and N,N-dimethylethanolamine (DMEA) as a dual carbon synthon. Various 2H-chromenes with different functional groups are constructed in moderate to good yields. This is the first report that DMEA acts as a dual C1 synthon.

Abstract
ortho-Quinone methides (o-QMs) underwent formal [4 + 2]-cycloaddition reactions with arylallenes regioselectively at the styrenyl olefin to furnish the corresponding 3-methylene-2-arylchromans in moderate to good yields (up to 88%). When R ≠ H, the reactions also proceeded with moderate stereoselectivity (up to 5:1) which was governed by the nature of the R group. The 3-methylene-2-arylchromans could serve as common intermediates for further functionalization including epoxidation, oxidative cleavage/Baeyer-Villiger oxidation, Riley oxidation, acid-catalyzed rearrangement, and Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions to furnish the corresponding derivatives in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
The construction of carbon-carbon bond through the metathesis reactions between carbonyls
and olefins or alkynes has attracted significant interest in organic chemistry due to its high atomeconomy
and efficiency. In this regard, carbonyl–alkyne metathesis is well developed and widely used
in organic synthesis for the atom-efficient construction of various carbocycles and heterocycles in the
presence of catalytic Lewis acids or Brønsted acids. On the other hand, alkene-carbonyl metathesis is
recently developed and has been a topic of great importance in the field of organic chemistry because
they possess attractive qualities involving metal-mediated, metal-free intramolecular, photochemical,
Lewis acid-mediated ring-closing metathesis, ring-opening metathesis and cross-metathesis. This review
covers most of the strategies of carbonyl–alkyne and carbonyl–olefin metathesis reactions in the
synthesis of complex molecules, natural products and pharmaceuticals as well as provides an overview
of exploration of the metathesis reactions with high atom-economy as well as environmentally and
ecologically benign reaction conditions.
