Abstract
Herein, we developed a new SnCl2-mediated ANRORC (addition of nucleophile, ring-opening, and ring-closure)-like rearrangement for the synthesis of 3-amino-2-substituted-quinazolin-4(3H)-one from 2-(2-nitrophenyl)-5-substituted-1,3,4-oxadiazole. The new method is solvent-dependent and features the use of a green solvent system (i.e., ethanol/water), high yields, and simple workup. The reduced product could be exclusively synthesized by changing the solvent to acetonitrile.

Abstract
The use of alternative energy sources, such as microwaves (MW) or ultrasounds (US), and their mutual cross-combination have been widely described in the literature in the development of new synthetic methodologies in organic and medicinal chemistry. In this review, our attention is focused on representative examples, reported in the literature in the year range 2013-2023 of selected N-containing bicyclic heterocycles, with the aim to highlight the advantages of microwave- and ultrasound-assisted organic synthesis.

Abstract
The role of glycerol as a green bio-based solvent, reactant, and/or a catalyst in the synthesis of novel heterocycles, under pressure, is studied. Synthesis of novel quinolines in good yields using a new modified Skraup synthesis, utilizing glycerol and pressure Q-tubes, is demonstrated. Novel aniline trimers are prepared using glycerol, and substituted anilines under pressure, in acidic medium and water. Glycerol was employed as a catalyst and a green solvent in the synthesis of novel pyridazines 13a-c. The mechanisms of the reactions and the catalytic effect of glycerol in protic and aprotic media are fully discussed. The structures of the synthesized compounds were determined via X-ray crystallography and spectroscopic methods.
