Abstract
Alkylation reactions and their products are considered crucial in various contexts. Synthetically, the alkylation of a nucleophile is usually promoted using hazardous alkyl halides. Here, we aim to highlight the potential of pnictogen (ammonium or phosphonium) and chalcogen salts (sulfonium, selenonium, and telluronium) to function as alkylating agents. These compounds can be considered as non-volatile electrophilic alkyl reservoirs. We will center our discussion on the strategies developed in recent years to expand the synthetic utility of these salts in terms of transferable alkyl groups, substrate scope, and product selectivity.

Abstract
Sulfonyl groups are widely observed in biologically relevant molecules and consequently, SO2 capture is an increasingly attractive method to prepare these sulfonyl-containing compounds given the range of SO2 -surrogates now available as alternatives to using the neat gas. This, along with the advent of photoredox catalysis, has enabled mild radical capture of SO2 to emerge as an effective route to sulfonyl compounds. Here we report a photoredox-catalyzed cross-electrophile sulfonylation of aryl and alkyl bromides making use of a previously under-used amine-SO2 surrogate; bis(piperidine) sulfur dioxide (PIPSO). A broad selection of alkyl and aryl bromides were photocatalytically converted to their corresponding sulfinates and then trapped with various electrophiles in a one-pot multistep procedure to prepare sulfones and sulfonamides.

Abstract
An efficient and concise method for the synthesis of diverse substituted sulfones was developed with high selectivity. Using n-PrOH as the solvent, diaryl sulfones are formed even on a gram scale via metal-free coupling from sulfonyl hydrazines with symmetrical or unsymmetrical diaryliodonium salts.

Abstract
An efficient and powerful copper-assisted method for the effective conversion of a broad range of hydroxypyridines and sodium sulfinates into their corresponding pyridinyl tosylates was developed. Key features of this base- and ligand-free protocol include using the cheap and readily available CuBr2 as a medium and the use of sodium sulfinates as formal sulfonylation reagents. A variety of functional pyridinyl tosylates could be formed with good yields, which can easily be converted into C-C and C-N bond-containing compounds.
