Abstract
Present study describes the spawning induction of striped Snakehead, Channa striata using carp pituitary extract (CPE) and LH-RH agonist i.e. Buserelin (Glp-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Ser-tBu-Leu-Arg-Pro-NHEt). Total four treatments were designed under both hormones trail and treated as control group, T1, T2, and T3 with three replications of each treatment. While breeders under all hormone treatments showed spawning performances, no spawning performance was observed in control group. Latency time after hormonal treatment was lowest (20-24 hrs) in case of CPE than Buserelin (25-30 hrs). Regarding to CPE, spawning, fertilization and hatching rate were higher with the increasing doses of CPE in different treatments. The highest mean ± Standard deviation spawning, fertilization and hatching rate were 85.60±8.58 %, 79.38±4.89 % and 64.33±6.60 % respectively in T3 where dose of CPE was 80 mg kg-1. Similarly, in case of Buserelin hormone highest spawning rate was found in T3 (80.61±5.59) where dose of Buserelin was 0.80 µg kg-1 body weight. Fertilization rate was on the level 48.57±5.99, 70.62±5.33 and 90.32±4.79 respectively for T1, T2, and T3.Whilst, hatching rate was found 20.81±4.91, 37.11±4.50 and 61.33±6.61 in T1, T2, and T3 treatments respectively. However, T3 exhibited best performance regarding spawning, fertilization and hatching rate which were significantly higher than other two treatments.The current study revealed that spawning induction using carp pituitary extract and Buserelin is effective and might be useful for artificial breeding of Channa striata. Regarding to dose application i.e. 80 mg kg-1 of CPE and 0.80 µg kg-1 of Buserelin may be successfully applied to ovulation stimulation of Channa striata.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate reproductive traits in adults of Astyanax lacustris subjected to different spawning inducers. The study involved 240 females (12.54 g ± 2.33 and 7.66 cm ± 0.63 cm) and 240 males (5.83 g ± 0.39 g and 6.14 cm ± 0.64 cm), all at reproductive age. Three different inducers were evaluated: (i) 0.4 pellets of Ovopel®/kg of body weight; (ii) 0.5 ml of buserelin acetate/kg of body weight; and (iii) carp pituitary extract (CPE) (5.5 mg CPE/kg body weight for females and 2.5 mg CPE/kg body weight for males), as well as saline solution (without hormone). The degree-hours for spawning were greater (P<0.05) for the Ovopel® treatment (with 204.93) than in the treatment with CPE (183.2). Ovary weight and gonadosomatic index were higher (P<0.05) in CPE and Ovopel® treatments when compared to buserelin acetate. The number of oocytes per female, absolute and relative fecundity were greater (P<0.05) for Ovopel® and CPE treatments. Fertilization rate was higher (P<0.05) in treatment with buserelin acetate (82.3%) in relation to Ovopel® (72.33%) and CPE (62.40%) treatments, and the highest (P<0.05) hatching rates were achieved with buserelin acetate and Ovopel®. The number of larvae per female body weight was greater (P<0.05) when Ovopel® was used. In conclusion, Ovopel® proves to be a more effective reproductive inducer for induced reproduction of A. lacustris when compared to CPE and buserelin acetate.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate induced reproduction in tambaqui females using buserelin acetate as compared with the traditional treatment regimen with carp pituitary extract (CPE). Reproductive traits of females with a body weight (BW) of 8.47 ± 1.52 kg were evaluated in ten females treated with buserelin acetate at the dose of 0.5 mL/kg BW, in a single application, and in ten females treated with CPE at the dose of 5.5 mg/kg BW, in two applications (10 % and 90 %, with a 12-h interval between applications). Spawning rate did not differ between the females treated with buserelin acetate (40 %) and CPE (40 %). Weight, fertilization rate and hatching rate did not differ between the two treatment groups. Degree-hours (determined as the average temperature multiplied by time, in hours, for spawning after the treatment with the second dose of CPE and after the single treatment with buserelin acetate) for spawning and number of oocytes per gram of gametes collected were greater (P < 0.05) in the females treated with buserelin acetate than in the females treated with CPE. Production index, absolute fecundity and relative fecundity were greater (P < 0.05) in the females treated with CPE. The hormone buserelin acetate promotes reproduction in tambaqui females with there being a similar spawning rate and oocyte quality, however, lesser production indices and fecundity than when there is the conventional treatment regimen imposed with carp pituitary extract.

Abstract
The objective of this review is to analyze the role of microalgal bioprospecting and the application of microalgae as food supplements and immunostimulants in global and regional aquaculture, highlighting the Brazilian Amazon. This study evaluates the primary advantages of the application of the bioactive compounds of these microorganisms, simultaneously identifying the knowledge gaps that hinder their biotechnological and economic exploitation. The methodology used is comparative and descriptive-analytical, considering the hypothesis of the importance of bioprospecting microalgae, the mechanisms of crop development and its biotechnological and sustainable application. In this context, this review describes the primary applications of microalgae in aquaculture during the last decade (2005–2017). The positive effects of food replacement and/or complementation of microalgae on the diets of organisms, such as their influence on the reproduction rates, growth, and development of fish, mollusks and crustaceans are described and analyzed. In addition, the importance of physiological parameters and their association with the associated gene expression of immune responses in organisms supplemented with microalgae was demonstrated. Complementarily, the existence of technical-scientific gaps in a regional panorama was identified, despite the potential of microalgal cultivation in the Brazilian Amazon. In general, factors preventing the most immediate biotechnological applications in the use of microalgae in the region include the absence of applied research in the area. We conclude that the potential of these microorganisms has been relatively well exploited at the international level but not at the Amazon level. In the latter case, the biotechnological potential still depends on a series of crucial steps that involve the identification of species, the understanding of their functional characteristics and their applicability in the biotechnological area, especially in aquaculture.

Abstract
SummaryThe aim of this study was to evaluate if hormonal treatment causes changes in the morphology of matrinxã Brycon amazonicus spermatozoa. Twelve males were randomized into three treatment groups: 1, Ovaprim™ (0.5 ml/kg); 2, carp pituitary extract (CPE; 2.0 mg/kg); and 3, NaCl solution 0.9% - control group (0.5 ml/kg); with four replicates. Morphological sperm analysis was performed using an optical and scanning electron microscope. The percentage of normal spermatozoa (49.6±4.6% to 60.8±2.8%), with primary (26.1±6.4% to 45.3±4.5%) and secondary abnormalities (4.4±2.9% to 13.9±3.5%) did not differ significantly between treatment groups. There were no significant differences between treatments in relation to the primary abnormalities found in the head (10.5±3.8% to 25.5±6.3%), the midpiece (0.1±0.1% to 0.2±0.2%) and in the flagellum (18.9±3.8% to 15.5±3.1%), as well as in the secondary abnormalities, located in the head (0.8±0.4% to 7.8±4.6%) and in the flagellum (2.2±1.1% to 6.1±1.5%). When each abnormality was evaluated individually, only the percentage of degenerated head was higher in the CPE-induced group (24.9±5.9%) than the control group (7.2±3.1%). We concluded that the use of pituitary extract of carp or Ovaprim™ under the conditions of this experiment does not influence the percentage of sperm abnormalities in B. amazonicus.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the hormonal inducers Ovopel® and carp pituitary extract (CPE) for induction of reproduction in Colossoma macropomum females. The treatments were CPE at the dose of 5.5 mg/kg divided into two applications (10%; and 90% after 12 h) and Ovopel® at doses of 0.2 and 0.4 pellet/kg body weight in a single application. Eight replicates were used in each of the three treatments, totaling 24 experimental units. The females spawned when treated with the 0.2 pellet of Ovopel® (100.0%), 0.4 pellet of Ovopel® (62.5%), and CPE (87.5%), but there were no significant differences among the treatment groups in spawning rate. When there was treatment with Ovopel® spawning occurred with greater (P < 0.05) degree-hours (average water temperature × number of hours until spawning; 0.2 pellet: 417.7; 0.4 pellet: 412.3) in relation to the CPE treatment (268.9). The total oocyte weight was similar when there was treatment with Ovopel® (0.2 pellet: 832.3 g; 0.4 pellet: 798.9 g) and CPE (688.3 g). By contrast, the production index was greater (P < 0.05) with the Ovopel® treatments (0.2 pellet: 8.8%; 0.4 pellet: 9.0%) as compared with CPE (6.7%). Fertility and hatching rates were similar among the treatment groups. Ovopel® and CPE are efficient in induction of reproduction in C. macropomum females. Of the two Ovopel® treatments assessed in this study, the dose of 0.2 pellet/kg body weight is sufficient for effective induction of reproductive processes.
