Abstract
In recent years, water pollution has become a pressing global issue because of the continuous release of organic dyes from various industries. Therefore, finding an easy way to remove these harmful dyes from water has drawn the attention of researchers. This study investigates the removal of toxic Rose Bengal (RB) dye using hematite nanoparticles as a visible light photocatalyst without any additive. It is observed that by controlling particle size, quantity of the nanoparticles and reaction temperature, the dye degradation can be improved up to 95.33% with a half-life of 26 min. To understand photodegradation kinetic behavior, the Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic equation can be employed. The scavenger test indicated that the OH* radicals majorly led to the photodegradation process. The reaction rate values strongly depended on the size, quantity of the nanoparticles and reaction temperature. Controlling the optimizing condition, faster reaction rate (k = 0.027 min-1) can be achieved as compared to earlier reports. It is also noted that the change in the degradation efficiency of the reused catalyst is negligible when compared to the fresh one. Here, the dye degradation mechanism is discussed. Overall, this study reveals that hematite nanoparticles can be used as efficient photocatalyst for dye degradation applications by optimizing the controlling factors. These observations provide novel perspectives on the development of effective and sustainable photocatalytic technologies for pollution control and water treatment applications.

Abstract
The wide utilization of iron-based nanoparticles (NPs) based on their preferential properties has led to the discharge and accumulation of these materials into the aquatic environment. In this regard, a comparative study of different concentrations of α-Fe2O3 NPs and their micro form was conducted using microalga Chlorella sorokiniana up to the stationary growth phase. This study revealed that high concentrations of NPs (100 and 200 mg L-1) imposed a stressful condition on algal cells documented by a reduction in microalga growth, including cell number and specific growth rate. The physical contact between the algal cells and NPs resulted in a shading effect as well as morphological changes validated by scanning electron microscope results. The biochemical composition of C. sorokiniana exposed to high levels of Fe2O3 NPs was also evaluated. The increase in total carbohydrate content of algal cells along with a significant reduction in unsaturated fatty acids was found. Moreover, Fe2O3 NPs exposure induced oxidative stress evidenced by an increase in lipid peroxidation. To cope with oxidative stress, superoxide dismutase activity and antioxidant potential of microalga as defensive mechanisms increased in the culture with high concentrations of NPs. Besides, due to the interactions, microalga tended to form a protective layer from further cell-NP interactions through the secretion of extracellular polymeric substances. Nonetheless, the nano form of Fe2O3 was more toxic than its micro form due to its small size. Overall, this trial may provide additional insight into the toxicological mechanism and safety assessments of Fe2O3 NPs in the aquatic environment.

Abstract
The accumulation of antibiotics in the environment can be harmful to human health, and research on their disposal technologies is of increasing interest. In this study, WO3/α-Fe2O3/zeolite (WFZ) type II heterojunction composites with core-shell structures were prepared by coupling WO3 semiconductors with visible-light photocatalytic activity with α-Fe2O3 via hydrothermal synthesis using zeolite as a carrier for the adsorption of synergistic photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics in wastewater. X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), specific surface, and porosity measurements were used to characterize the structure of WFZ type II heterojunction. The performance of WFZ heterojunction for the visible photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics (tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH), ciprofloxacin (CIP), and levofloxacin hydrochloride (LVF)) was investigated. Through four photocatalytic cycles, the catalyst exhibited excellent durability and stability. This was attributed to the core-shell structure and type II heterojunction promoting the effective separation of photogenerated carriers and the extended visible light response range, which resulted in the best photocatalytic activity of the catalyst under visible light irradiation. Radical trapping experiments showed that superoxide radicals (•O2-) and hydroxyl radical (•OH) were the main active species that played a major role in the photocatalytic degradation. These findings show that the synthesized WFZ type-II heterojunction can be used as a reliable visible-light-responsive photocatalyst for the treatment of antibiotics in wastewater.

Abstract
In this work, complete elimination of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium was achieved in 120 min using a heterogeneous photo-Fenton process under sunlight at pH 6.5 in distilled water. A face-centered composite central design 22 with one categoric factor and three replicates at the central point was used to evaluate the effect of iron (III) oxide concentration (0.8-3.4 mg L-1), H2O2 (2-10 mg L-1), and the type of iron oxide phase (maghemite and hematite) on the inactivation of both bacteria. The results showed that the amount of catalyst, H2O2 concentration and their interaction were significant factors (p < 0.05) in the elimination of the microorganisms. Thus, under the best conditions (3.4 mg L-1 of iron (III) oxide and 10 mg L-1 of H2O2) in the experimental ranges, complete inactivation of E. coli and S. typhimurium was achieved (6-log reduction) in 120 min using the photo-Fenton treatment with both iron-oxide phases. Furthermore, the photocatalytic elimination of both bacteria by the photo-Fenton process using hematite and maghemite in secondary-treated wastewater effluent was performed obtaining slower inactivation rates (1.2-5.9 times) than in distilled water due to the matrix effect of the effluent from a wastewater treatment plant. Nevertheless, the process continued to be effective in the effluent, achieving complete bacterial elimination in 150 min using the hematite phase. Additionally, the SEM images of the bacterial cells showed that the heterogeneous photo-Fenton treatment generated permanent and irreversible cell damage, resulting in complete cell death.

Abstract
Iron oxide nanoparticles could play a useful role in lung cancer therapy. Iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by plant mediated synthesis, chemical, and microbial mediated synthesis. iron oxide nanoparticle polyethylene glycol cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (Fe2O3@PEG@CDDP(, iron oxide nanoparticle polyethylene glycol (Fe2O3@PEG), and cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (CDDP) were evaluated for their antioxidant, and in vitro cytotoxicity tests. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), mapping, and zeta potential were used to characterize the synthesized iron oxides NPs. Cell toxicity was determined using A549 and HFF cells by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The antioxidant scavenging activity of Fe2O3@PEG@CDDP, Fe2O3@PEG, and CDDP displayed IC50 values (11.96, 26.74, and 3.17 μg/ml) and (8.54, 11.4, and 1.14 μg/ml) in 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assays, respectively. Nanoparticles obtained from plant mediated synthesis method showed the great antioxidant activity. Results showed that, green-method synthesized nanoparticles were the most effective at killing cancer cells. Thus, the characteristics of nanoparticles from green synthesis are more valuable than the other methods. Green synthesis is environmental friendly cost-effective, and easy approach for synthesize NPs.

Abstract
The wide application of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) in different fields has resulted in release and accumulation of these materials into the aquatic ecosystem. Therefore, it is important to understand the potential impact of these NPs on aquatic organisms especially primary producers i.e., microalgae. Present study aimed to investigate the bioavailability and the effect of α-Fe2O3 NPs on growth of iron deprived cells of Chlorella vulgaris. Results showed that α-Fe2O3 NPs are not available as iron source to support the growth of C. vulgaris. Moreover,α-Fe2O3 NPs induced stress condition to C. vulgaris, which were reflected in its growth rates, total lipid contents, fatty acid profile and cell morphology. Specifically, low concentrations of α-Fe2O3 NPs (0.1, 0.5, 2.5, 5, 10 mg/L) showed similar growth profile and total lipid contents at both exponential and stationary growth phases. At 50 and 100 mg/L α-Fe2O3 NPs concentrations biomass reduced by 41.2% and 83.7% whereas total lipid contents increased by 39.7% and 25.5% respectively at exponential growth phase along with reduction in fatty acids. The results illustrated novel insights into the microalgal interaction with nanoparticles, providing fundamental knowledge for the development of future microalgae ecology and cultivation technology.

Abstract
This study aimed to systematically understand the magnetic properties of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles functionalized with different Pluronic F-127 surfactant concentrations (Fe3O4@Pluronic F-127) obtained by using an improved magnetic characterization method based on three-dimensional magnetic maps generated by scanning magnetic microscopy. Additionally, these Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@Pluronic F-127 nanoparticles, as promising systems for biomedical applications, were prepared by a wet chemical reaction. The magnetization curve was obtained through these three-dimensional maps, confirming that both Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@Pluronic F-127 nanoparticles have a superparamagnetic behavior. The as-prepared samples, stored at approximately 20 °C, showed no change in the magnetization curve even months after their generation, resulting in no nanoparticles free from oxidation, as Raman measurements have confirmed. Furthermore, by applying this magnetic technique, it was possible to estimate that the nanoparticles' magnetic core diameter was about 5 nm. Our results were confirmed by comparison with other techniques, namely as transmission electron microscopy imaging and diffraction together with Raman spectroscopy. Finally, these results, in addition to validating scanning magnetic microscopy, also highlight its potential for a detailed magnetic characterization of nanoparticles.

Abstract
A persistent ultrasound-assisted hydrothermal method has been developed to prepare cobalt oxide incorporated nitrogen-doped graphene (Co3O4/N-GO) hybrids. The electrochemical behaviors and catalytic activity of the prepared hybrids have been systematically investigated as cathode materials for Al-air battery. The results show that ultrasonication can promote the yield ratio of Co3O4 from 63.1% to 70.6%. The prepared Co3O4/N-GO hybrid with ultrasonication exhibits better ORR activity over that without ultrasonication. The assembled Al-air battery using the ultrasonicated Co3O4/N-GO hybrid exhibited an average working voltage of 1.02 V in 4 M KOH electrolyte at 60 mA∙cm-2, approximately 60 mV higher than that using hybrid without ultrasonication. This should be attributed to large number density of fine Co3O4 particles growing on the dispersed GO sheets under the persistent ultrasonication. The related ultrasonic mechanism has been discussed in details.

Abstract
This study successfully manufactured a p-n heterojunction hematite (α-Fe2O3) structure with molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) to address the electron-hole transfer problems of conventional hematite to enhance photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance. The two-dimensional MoS2 nanosheets were prepared through ultrasonication-assisted liquid-phase exfoliation, after which the concentration, number of layers, and thickness parameters of the MoS2 nanosheets were respectively estimated by UV-vis, HRTEM and AFM analysis to be 0.37 mg/ml, 10-12 layers and around 6 nm. The effect of heterojunction α-Fe2O3/MoS2 and the role of the ultrasonication process were investigated by the optimized concentration of MoS2 in the forms of bulk and nanosheet on the surface of the α-Fe2O3 electrode while measuring the PEC performance. The best photocurrent density of the α-Fe2O3/MoS2 photoanode was obtained at 1.52 and 0.86 mA.cm-2 with good stability at 0.6 V vs. Ag/AgCl under 100 mW/cm2 (AM 1.5) illumination from the back- and front-sides of α-Fe2O3/MoS2; these values are 13.82 and 7.85-times higher than those of pure α-Fe2O3, respectively. The results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Mott-Schottky analysis showed increased donor concentration (2.6-fold) and decreased flat band potential (by 20%). Moreover, the results of IPCE, ABPE, and OCP analyses also supported the enhanced PEC performance of α-Fe2O3/MoS2 through the formation of a p-n heterojunction, leading to a facile electron-hole transfer.
