Abstract
Developing green, environmental, sustainable new energy sources is an important problem to be solved in the world. Among the new energy technologies, water splitting system, fuel cell technology and metal-air battery technology are the main energy production and conversion methods, which involve three main electrocatalytic reactions, hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The efficiency of the electrocatalytic reaction and the power consumption are very dependent on the activity of the electrocatalysts. Among various electrocatalysts, the two-dimensional (2D) materials have received widespread attention due to multiple advantages, such as their easy availability and low price. What' important is that they have adjustable physical and chemical properties. It is possible to develop them as electrocatalysts to replace the noble metals. Therefore, the design of two-dimensional electrocatalysts is a focus in the research area. Some recent advances in ultrasound-assisted preparation of two-dimensional (2D) materials have been overviewed according to the kind of materials in this review. Firstly, the effect of the ultrasonic cavitation and its applications in the synthesis of inorganic materials are introduced. The ultrasonic-assisted synthesis of representative 2D materials for example transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), graphene, layered double metal hydroxide (LDH), and MXene, and their catalytic properties as electrocatalysts are discussed in detail. For example, the CoMoS4 electrocatalysts have been synthesized through a facile ultrasound-assisted hydrothermal method. The obatined HER and OER overpotential of CoMoS4 electrode is 141 and 250 mV, respectively. This review points out some problems that need to be solved urgently at present, and provides some ideas for designing and constructing two-dimensional materials with better electrocatalytic performance.

Abstract
Graphene/ZnS hybrid-dimensional heterostructure is an excellent combination to regulate and improve the conductivity and sensitivity of components, in which the interface effects have crucial impacts on the performance of devices. In this work, we investigate the interface characteristics of Graphene/ZnS 2D/3D heterostructures. X-ray photoelectron spectra show that the ZnS binding energy shifts to lower energy by 0.3 eV after forming heterojunction with graphene. The fluorescence and absorption spectra confirm the luminescence enhancement and blue-shift of the absorbance edge of ZnS caused by graphene. The composition of Graphene/ZnS heterostructure facilitates separation and transfer of spatial charges, resulting in rapid electron transport.

Abstract
A novel electrochemical method has been developed for determination of nitrite using La-based perovskite-type lanthanum aluminate nanorod-incorporated graphene oxide nanosheets (LaAlO3@GO). Morphological and structural analyses of the prepared perovskite-type electrocatalyst, with and without a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface, were performed using various techniques, including transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, Raman spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Under optimal conditions, the LaAlO3@GO composite-modified GCE (LaAlO3@GO/GCE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic performance toward the electrooxidation of nitrite (pH = 7.0), with a significant increase in anodic peak currents compared with the bare GCE. Using amperometry, the fabricated sensor exhibited a wide nitrite determination range from 0.01 to 1540.5 µM, with a detection limit of 0.0041 µM. Notably, the proposed LaAlO3@GO/GCE electrode demonstrated a good nitrite detection performance in different meat and water samples. In addition, the LaAlO3@GO/GCE electrode displayed excellent selectivity, repeatability, reproducibility, storage, and operational stability toward nitrite detection.

Abstract
Selective and sensitive dopamine (DPA) sensor was developed using hydrothermally prepared functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube-coated bismuth molybdate (f-MWCNT@BMO). The f-MWCNT@BMO-reinforced electrode exhibited an outstanding electrocatalytic activity towards DPA oxidation. The nanocomposite-reinforced electrode displayed a rapid response towards DPA sensing and possessed the minimized potential of (Epa + 0.285 V vs Ag/AgCl) in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (PB). The electrochemical results of prepared sensors were analyzed using the differential pulse voltammetry method (DPV). As a result, the f-MWCNT@BMO-reinforced electrode exhibited a widelinear range of 10 nM - 814 μM with a very low detection limit of 3.4 nM towards DPA oxidation. The developed sensor shows excellent selectivity in presence of similar functional group biomolecules. The detection of DPA in real samples was evaluated in human serum, as the results of the proposed sensor possessed good recoveries.

Abstract
Rare-earth metal orthovanadates have great technological relevance in the family of rare-earth compounds owing to their excellent physical and chemical properties. A significant number of studies have been carried out on this class of compounds to exploit their electrochemical properties in virtue of variable oxidation states. But holmium vanadate (HoV) and its morphology selective synthesis have not been considered, which can have potential applications similar to the rest of the family. In this work, we propose the synthesis of superior architectures of HoV with a functionalized boron nitride (f-BN) nanocomposite. The synergistic effect between HoV and f-BN can have a positive effect on the physical characteristics of the nanocomposite, which can be explored for its electrochemical capacity. Here, HoV incorporated with f-BN is explored for the electrochemical detection of Hg2+ ions, which is known for its toxicity-induced environmental health hazards. The structural and compositional revelation reveals higher conductivity and faster electron transfer in the composite, which facilitates a wide working range (0.02-53.8 and 64.73-295.4 μM), low limit of detection (5 nM), higher sensitivity (66.6 μA μM-1 cm-2), good selectivity over 10-fold higher concentration of other interfering compounds compared to Hg2+ ion concentration, and good cycles stability (30 segments) toward Hg2+ ion detection. This also envisages the morphology selective synthesis and utilization of other rare-earth metals, whose electrochemical capacities are unexplored.

Abstract
A label-free chemical bonding strategy mediated by reduced graphene oxide (rGO) basal plane functional groups has been developed for cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) detection. Four different chemical strategies on respective electrode sensing surface were precedingly examined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The impedimetric assessment was carried out by sweeping frequency at the range 0.1-500 kHz perturbated at a small amplitude of AC voltage (25 mV). The chemical strategy-4 denoted as S-4 shows a significant analytical performance on cTnI detection in spiked buffer and human serum, whereby the pre-mixture of rGO and (3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) creates a large number of amine sites (-NH2), which significantly enhanced the antibody immobilization without excessive functionalization. The as-fabricated immunosensor exhibited an ultra-low limit of detection of 6.3 ag mL-1 and the lowest antigen concentration measured was at 10 ag mL-1. The immunosensor showed a linear and wide range of cTnI detection (10 ag mL-1-100 ng mL-1) in human serum with a regression coefficient of 0.9716, rapid detection (5 min of binding time), and stable and highly reproducible bioelectrode response with RSD < 5%. Hence, the demonstrated S-4 strategy is highly recommended for other downstream biosensors applications.

Abstract
An electrocatalyst modified electrode has been investigated to develop the rapid detection of antibiotics. The modified electrocatalyst was intended for the determination of sulfadiazine (SFZ) in biological fluids by electrochemical methods. Nanocube of zinc manganite (ZnMn2O4-NC) is prepared by hydrothermal method and a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) has been modified with the zinc manganite. The ZnMn2O4/GCE exhibit enhanced detection performances towards SFZ drug owing to their selective adsorption ability and the combination of electrostatic attraction of nanocube with SFZ. The modified electrocatalyst shows excellent electrocatalytic interactions with antibiotic drug. Besides, the modified sensors exhibit nanomolar detection limit (0.0021 μM) in 0.05 M phosphate buffer (pH = 7.0) using differential pulse voltammetric method. The working range of the modified electrode is 0.008-1264 μM, and the sensitivity of the SFZ sensor is 11.44 μA μM-1 cm-2. The modified sensor stability and reproducibility performances have been examined by electrochemical method. In addition, the obtained results of real sample analysis with different concentrations of SFZ in biological fluids are satisfactory with good recovery.

Abstract
The binary nanomaterials and graphitic carbon based hybrid has been developed as an important porous nanomaterial for fabricating electrode with applications in non-enzymatic (bio) sensors. We report a fast synthesis of bimetal oxide particles of nano-sized manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4) decorated on graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) via a high-intensity ultrasonic irradiation method for C (30 kHz and 70 W/cm2). The nanocomposites were analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction, XPS, EDS, TEM to ascertain the effects of synthesis parameters on structure, and morphology. The MnFe2O4/GCN modified electrode demonstrated superior electrocatalytic activity toward the neurotransmitter (5-hydroxytryptamine) detection with a high peak intensity at +0.21 V. The appealing application of the MnFe2O4/GCN/GCE as neurotransmitter sensors is presented and a possible sensing mechanism is analyzed. The constructed electrochemical sensor for the detection of 5-hydroxytryptamine (STN) showed a wide working range (0.1-522.6 μM), high sensitivity (19.377 μA μM-1 cm-2), and nano-molar detection limit (3.1 nM). Moreover, it is worth noting that the MnFe2O4/GCN not only enhanced activity and also promoted the electron transfer rate towards STN detection. The proposed sensor was analyzed for its real-time applications to the detection of STN in rat brain serum, and human blood serum in good satisfactory results was obtained. The results showed promising reproducibility, repeatability, and high stability for neurotransmitter detection in biological samples.

Abstract
The formation of biofilms capable of efficiently carrying out ureolysis is of fundamental importance in several biotechnological systems such as urinary tract infections, building materials and municipal wastewater treatment. This work proposes a straightforward method for the formation of a ureolytic biofilm attached to graphite. The proposed strategy reduced the time needed to complete ureolysis to 3 days instead of 16 days required in suspension culture. To confirm the formation of a ureolytic biofilm, scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy studies were employed ex situ. However, it is imperative to analyse the biofilm by direct non-invasive techniques. Accordingly, open circuit potential (OCP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used as in situ monitoring techniques. The reduction in OCP from - 0.01 to - 0.2 V vs. Ag/AgCl and the increase in capacitance from 200 to 260 μF cm-2 were related to biofilm attachment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time in which a ureolytic biofilm attachment has been analysed by EIS. The increase in the biomass from 0.04 to 2.81 μm3 μm-2 and in average thickness from 10.19 to 32.78 μm was related to biofilm maturation.

Abstract
Graphitic carbon nitrides supported cuprous oxide architecture is reported as an efficient electrode material for supercapacitors, especially due to its high charge-transfer conductivity of the electrochemical devices. Herein, we present an electrochemical sensor to specifically detect 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-HDG) oxidative stress biomarker using graphitic carbon nitrides that decorate a cuprous oxide cubes modified electrode. The fabricated electrochemical sensor was characterized and proved by electrochemical methods, EDX, FESEM, and amperometry (i-t). In the presence of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-HDG), the effective interaction between graphitic carbon nitrides and 8-HDG favors the accumulation on the Cu2O/g-C3N4/GCE, which increases the electrocatalytic property and amperometric response. The proposed electrochemical sensor exhibits a wide linear range for 8-HDG in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) from 25 nM to 0.91 mM, and the limit of detection (LOD) is 4.5 nM. The stability of the Cu2O/g-C3N4/GCE is improved when stored at 4 °C. The repeatability and reproducibility of this electrochemical sensor is good and the sensor retains its current response for 8-HDG detection also after long time storage. The modified sensor proved high selectivity and sensitivity for 8-HDG, which made it possible to determine 8-HDG in biological samples. Furthermore, the Cu2O/g-C3N4/GCE offered a favorable electron transfer between the Cu2O/g-C3N4 and the electrode interface compared to Cu2O/GCE, g-C3N4/GCE, and unmodified GCE.
