Key components of perioperative orientation

The key components of any orientation program are the learner, the orientation process, and the learner's outcome as a new employee. Retention of a productive, competent perioperative nurse represents a successful outcome of any perioperative orientation program. To achieve optimal employee outcomes, perioperative nurse educators must consider each learner's proficiency level, preferred style of learning, and expectations of the position for which the employee was hired.
