Abstract
Fluorescent organic nanoparticles (FONPs) have attracted much attention as a practicable and effective platform for detection applications. The present article describes the preparation of FONPs derived from the quinazolinone-based 2-(furan-2-yl)-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivative FHDQ. Self-assembly of FHDQ in an aqueous medium resulted in the formation of FONPs through H-type aggregation and showed excellent fluorescence properties. The presence of other coexisting species solutions did not affect the selective fluorescence quenching observed with the addition of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The photophysical properties, i.e., UV-Vis absorbance, fluorescence emission, and lifetime measurements together with zeta particle sizer, support excited-state complex formation followed by a dynamic fluorescence quenching phenomenon in the emission of FDHQNPs. In the concentration range of 0 to 36 μg.[Formula: see text], the detection limit of this turn-off sensor FDHQNPs against 4-NP was determined to be 0.01611 μM. Finally, the practicability of the FDHQNPs for the analysis of 4-NP in environmental samples was demonstrated.

Abstract
A first hexaphenylsilole-based conjugated microporous polymer, termed THPS, was prepared by a Friedel-Crafts arylation reaction of 1,1,2,3,4,5-hexabenylthirole with 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine catalyzed by anhydrous aluminium trichloride (AlCl3) in 1,2-dichloroethane. Its Brunauer-Emmett-Teller and Langmuir surface area reached up to 1579 and 2081 m2 g-1, and total pore volume and micropore pore volume were severally 0.8325 and 0.7322 cm3 g-1. THPS could fluorescence-sense o-nitrophenol with high sensitivity and selectivity. Its fluorescence quenching constant (KSV) and limits of detection (LODs) were severally 8.32 × 103 L mol-1 and 3.61 × 10-10 mol L-1. The fluorescence quenching of THPS by o-nitrophenol was originated from the combined action of both photo-induced electron transfer mechanism and resonance energy transfer mechanism.

Abstract
Maduramicin (MAD) and salinomycin (SAL) are the widely used poly(ether ionophore) antibiotics to control coccidiosis in animals. Due to their strong cytotoxicity, strict control over their dosage and residue in animal food is necessary. To improve the detection efficiency of the existing single-residue detection methods, a tetraploid tumor hybrid system was constructed using drug mutagenesis, and the bispecific monoclonal antibody (BsMAb) against MAD and SAL was obtained by hybridization-hybridoma technology. By optimizing the optimal working concentration of the tracer and antibody, a multiresidue fluorescence polarization immunoassay method based on BsMAb was successfully established. The whole detection process takes 10 min, and the LOD values of MAD and SAL were 4.71 and 3.49 ng·g-1, respectively. IC50 values were 6.45 and 6.24 ng·mL-1, respectively. There was no cross-reactivity with other polyether ionophore antibiotics. Finally, a breakthrough in detection was achieved: bispecific monoclonal antibody prepared by the hybridization-hybridoma technology was used to detect maduramicin and salinomycin.

Abstract
The detection and quantification of p-Nitrophenol (p-NP) in environmental samples are important for understanding the extent and impact of environmental pollution, protecting human health, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding remediation efforts. The main objective of this work was to investigate the electrochemical performance of a graphene oxide/cellulose nanofibril composite (GO/CNF) modified carbon paste electrode (GO/CNF/CPE) for the sensitive and reliable detection of p-nitrophenol in water samples. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) technique was employed to enlighten the structure of nanocomposites. The electrochemical behavior of the fabricated electrochemical sensor was characterized via differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Under optimized analytical conditions, the peak current of the analyte showed a wide linear relationship with its concentration in a range of 3.0 nM-210 μM with a low amount of the limit of detection (LOD) value of 0.8 nM determined by the DPV method. The proposed electrochemical sensor demonstrated excellent sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy metrics in real sample analysis of p-nitrophenol.

Abstract
Abiotic stresses of various chemical contamination of physical, inorganic, organic and biotoxin origin and biotic stresses of bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal origins are the significant constraints in achieving higher aquaculture production. Testing and rapid detection of these chemical and microbial contaminants are crucial in identifying and mitigating abiotic and biotic stresses, which has become one of the most challenging aspects in aquaculture and culture-based fisheries. The classical analytical techniques, including titrimetric methods, spectrophotometric, mass spectrometric, spectroscopic, and chromatographic techniques, are tedious and sometimes inaccessible when required. The development of novel and improved bioanalytical methods for rapid, selective and sensitive detection is a wide and dynamic field of research. Biosensors offer precise detection of biotic and abiotic stressors in aquaculture and culture-based fisheries within no time. This review article allows filling the knowledge gap for detection and monitoring of chemical and microbial contaminants of abiotic and biotic origin in aquaculture and culture-based fisheries using nano(bio-) analytical technologies, including nano(bio-)molecular and nano(bio-)sensing techniques.

Abstract
A glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with nitrogen-doped carbon materials (NC) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) composites to design an electrochemical sensor for detecting 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The NC materials were prepared by a simple and economical method through the condensation and carbonization of formamide. The NC materials were dispersed in a polyethyleneimine (PEI) solution easily. Due to the excellent properties of NC and PEI as well as their synergistic effect, the electrochemical reduction of the 4-NP on the surface of the NC-PEI composite modified electrode was effectively enhanced. Under the optimized conditions, at 0.06-10 μM and 10-100 μM concentration ranges, the NC-PEI/GCE sensor shows a linear response to 4-NP, and the detection limit is 0.01 μM (the signal-to-noise ratio is three). The reliability of the sensor for the detection of 4-NP in environmental water samples was successfully evaluated. In addition, the sensor has many advantages, including simple preparation, fast response, high sensitivity and good repeatability. It may be helpful for potential applications in detecting other targets.

Abstract
Novel ZnS/Au/f-multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanostructures were produced via a pulsed laser-assisted technique followed by a wet chemical process. ZnS nanospheres were synthesized via pulsed laser ablation of a Zn target in DMSO, which was used as a solvent and sulfur source. Notably, no additional sulfur sources, surfactants, or reducing agents were used during the synthesis. The structure and morphology of the prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, micro-Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The fabricated electrochemical sensor based on ZnS/Au/f-MWCNT nanocomposites exhibited rapid and highly selective detection of a toxic pollutant, namely 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). Linear sweep voltammetry analysis revealed that the optimized ZnS/Au10/f-MWCNT3 nanocomposite displayed a wide linear dynamic response (10-150 μM) with high sensitivity (0.8084μAμM-1cm-2) and low limit of detection (30 nM). The excellent 4-NP sensing performance of the modified electrode was attributed to the availability of numerous active sites (electrochemical surface area=0.00369μFcm-2) and an enhanced electron transfer rate. Interference and stability studies were also conducted. A 100-fold excess of competing ions (Na+, K+, Mg2+, Cl-, NO3-, 4-AP, AA, and 2-NP) did not interfere with the selective detection of 4-NP. The newly fabricated ZnS/Au10/f-MWCNT3 nanocomposite could be an effective sensor for the selective and sensitive detection of toxic organic nitro compounds.

Abstract
4-Nitrophenol (4-NP) is an extensively utilized industrial chemical and one of major toxic water pollutant. Therefore, there is an urgent need to monitor the levels of 4-NP from environmental samples as well as its eradication are extremely important. Keeping this as a motivation, this research for the first-time reports microwave-assisted cost-effective synthesis of silver oxide (Ag2O)-zinc oxide (ZnO) composite nanocones (CNCs, 80-100 nm) for simultaneous electrochemical detection and photodegradation of 4-NP from aqueous solutions. The Ag2O-ZnO CNCs modified gold electrode was fabricated for electrochemical detection of 4-NP. Such fabricated sensor exhibited a sensitivity of 1.6 µA µM-1cm-2, wide linear detection range of 0.4-26 µM & 28-326 µM, and a low limit of detection of 23 nM. The sensor also exhibited good selectivity in real water samples. Also, an outstanding photocatalytic performance of Ag2O-ZnO CNCs was evaluated towards UV-assisted degradation of 4-NP and organic water pollutant dye, methylene blue. The Ag2O-ZnO CNCs exhibited excellent electro- and photocatalytic activities due to the formation of p-n nano-heterojunction comprising of p-type Ag2O and n-type ZnO semiconductor nanoparticles within the composite. Therefore, herein reported smart CNCs can be projected as applied nano-system for cost-effective and rapid simultaneous detection and removal of 4-NP from aqueous solutions. Such nano-system can be useful for industrial application where detection and removal of 4-NP is a key issue to resolve.

Abstract
In this paper, silver-doped zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by using a solution combustion technique, in which zinc nitrate is used as an oxidizer and tartaric acid as a fuel. The phase composition, morphology and structural properties of the as-synthesized zinc oxide and silver-doped zinc oxide were established by using powdered X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies. Due to well-defined morphologies and crystallinity, the pure zinc oxide and silver-doped zinc oxide nanostructures can be used as efficient chemical sensors for the detection of p-nitrophenol (PNP). ZnO was found to show a low value of the limit of detection (LOD), i.e., 2.175 µM/L, for p-nitrophenol sensing; moreover, a sharp decrease in the limit of detection was observed with an increase in the concentration of silver ions, and the LOD value decreased to 0.669 µM/L for 10 mol % silver-doped zinc oxide. It is therefore concluded that Ag-doped ZnO shows a lower limit of detection as compared to pure ZnO for p-nitrophenol sensing.

Abstract
In this study, a novel electrochemical sensor based on self-assembled rod-like lanthanum hydroxide-oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs) nanocomposite was developed for sensitive determination of p-nitrophenol (p-NP). The La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs nanocomposite with an interpenetrating networks structure was characterized by field emission electron microscope (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Raman spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements were performed to study the electrochemical behaviors of La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs modified glassy carbon electrode (La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs/GCE). The La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs/GCE was used for sensitive determination of p-NP by CV and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). Under the optimum conditions, the peak currents of LSV versus the concentrations of p-NP in the range 1.0-30.0 μmol L-1 showed a good linear relationship (R2=0.9971), and the limit of detection (LOD) was calculated to be 0.27 μmol L-1 (signal-to-noise ratio of 3, S/N=3). The recoveries of p-NP in real samples of industrial wastewater and Xiangjiang water at La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs/GCE were in the range of 95.62-110.75% with relative standard deviation (RSD) in the range of 1.65-3.85%. The intra-day and inter-day precisions were estimated to be less than 2.76% (n= 5), indicating that La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs/GCE possessed highly stability. In addition, La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs/GCE sensor showed good anti-interference ability for determination of p-NP in aqueous mixtures containing high concentrations of inorganic and organic interferents, and a decrease of oxidation peak currents by less than 3.57% relative to the initial levels indicated it possessed excellent selectivity. Therefore, La(OH)3-OxMWCNTs/GCE could be used as a fast, selective and sensitive electrochemical sensor platform for the selective determination and quantification of aqueous p-NP.

Abstract
In this study, a semiconductor-doped nanocomposite material (Zn-doped Er2O3 nano-composites) was prepared via a single-step wet-chemical technique at alkaline pH. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV/Vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (XEDS), and X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) were applied to determine the structural and morphological properties of the Zn-doped Er2O3 nanocomposite. A thin layer of aggregated Zn-doped Er2O3 nanocomposite was fabricated on the flat surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with 5% ethanolic Nafion as conducting coating binder for the development of a selective and sensitive p-nitrophenol (para-NP) capturing electrochemical probe for environmental remediation. After the fabrication of the sensor, a novel current-potential (I-V) electrochemical approach was applied to determine its selectivity and sensitivity together with all the necessary analytical parameters against para-NP. Moreover, the calibration plot was found to be linear with the linear dynamic range (LDR) of para-NP concentration. The limit of detection (LOD) at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 (S/N ∼ 3) and sensitivity were also calculated to be 0.033 ± 0.002 pM and 28.481 × 10-2 μA μM-1 cm-2, respectively, based on the gradient of the calibration plot, and the limit of quantification (LOQ) was determined to be 0.11 ± 0.02 pM. This work demonstrates a well-known approach for the first time that can be used for the development of efficient electrochemical sensors. These sensors based on semiconductor doped nanomaterials embedded onto the GCE for the detection of toxic chemicals in an aqueous system as an environmental remediation. It can be further applied for the analysis of real environmental samples and in the healthcare field.

Abstract
Novel fluorescent anthracene-decorated cyclotri- and cyclotetraphosphazenes (5 and 6) are designed and synthesized, and their chemosensor behaviors against nitroaromatic compounds are examined by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies for addressing the sensors with cyclophosphazenes for 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene detection. The fluorescence intensities of (5 and 6) are found to be selectively quenched by only 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene through the non-covalent π⋯π stacking interactions between anthracene-substituted cyclophosphazenes and 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene. In addition, cyclic voltammetry and theoretical calculation of novel sensor systems are studied. The proposed fluorescent sensor systems are critical in terms of practical detection of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene.

Abstract
4-nitrophenol (4-NP) is a hazardous waste and a priority toxic pollutant identified by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Hence, in this paper, a voltammetric sensor was proposed for the direct and sensitive detection of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) at nanomolar level in complex matrices by using graphene and acetylene black paste hybridized electrode (GR/ABPE). Under optimal conditions, the calibration curve demonstrates a linear relationship for 4-NP in the range from 20 nM to 8.0 μM and 8.0 μM to 0.1 mM separately with the detection limit of 8.0 nM. In addition to it, the performance of the GR/ABPE in practical applications was evaluated by detecting 4-NP in various water samples, and satisfactory recoveries were realized. Therefore, GR/ABPE may have a great potential application for facile and sensitive detection of 4-NP in complex matrices at nanomolar level.

Abstract
Design and fabrication of cost effective analytical tools to monitor toxic organic emissions in eco system is of a great necessity. Nitrophenols are a class of widespread toxic organic pollutant lead to serious adverse effects in biosphere on its consumption. This article reports a high sensitive, cost effective, robust electrochemical sensor for 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) in environmental water samples. A novel sheet like CoMnO3 (CMO Ns) nanocatalyst was synthesized via oxalic acid assisted co-precipitation technique and employed as electrocatalyst for the high sensitive detection of 4-NP. The physiochemical properties of CMO Ns are studied in detail via XRD, FTIR, TEM, TGA, and XPS. TEM results reviled the protocol is an excellent way for synthesis of a uniformly distributed CMO Ns with lathery surface. Evident to the surface and other physiochemical studies the CMO Ns based sensor holds superior electrocatalytic activity towards 4-NP detection with excellent sensitivity (2.458 μA μM-1 cm-2) coupled with nanomolar detection (10 nm) limits. Moreover, the constructed sensor holds reliable long-term durability, good reproducibility, and excellent working stability. The practical applicability of the developed sensor was evaluated by determination of 4-NP in samples acquired from water resources with RSD ± 3.3%.

Abstract
Recently, metal nanoparticles incorporated carbon nanostructures have tremendous applications in the field of nanosensor and technologies. In the proposed work, silver nanoparticles (Ag) decorated reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (rGONS) (rGONS-Ag) are synthesized and developed for the sensitive detection of ortho-Nitrophenol (o-NP) using electrochemical techniques. The rGONS-Ag nanocomposites are synthesized through chemical reduction method. The physical and electrochemical behaviour of the synthesized rGONS-Ag nanocomposites are characterized by using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals the formation of well crystalline silver nanoparticles (AgNp’s) on the surface of rGO nanosheets with the crystallite size of about 22.775 nm. The morphological analysis reveals the formation of well distributed cubic shape AgNp’s on the surface of rGO nanosheets. The rGONS‐Ag nanocomposites modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) shows the good electrochemical detection performance for ortho-Nitrophenol (o-NP) with the linear detection range from 2 mM to 8 mM and with the sensitivity of about 0.221 mA mM-1 cm-2.

Abstract
Microporous organic polymer nanoparticles bearing tetraphenylethylene moieties (MOPTs) were prepared in the presence of poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP). The PVP was entrapped into the microporous network of MOPT to form MOPT-P and played the roles of size control, porosity enhancement, and surface property management. MOPT materials without PVP showed superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 151°. In comparison, the MOPT-P showed excellent water compatibility. Moreover, due to the aggregation-induced emission property of tetraphenylethylene moieties, the MOPT-P showed emission and excellent emission-based sensing of nitrophenols in water with Ksv values in the range of 1.26 × 104 ∼ 3.37 × 104 M-1. It is noteworthy that the MOPT-P used water only as a sensing medium and did not require additional organic solvents to enhance water dispersibility of materials. The MOPT-P could be recovered and reused for the sensing at least five times.

Abstract
Ce2O3 nanoparticle decorated CNT nanocomposites (Ce2O3.CNT NCs) were prepared by a wet-chemical method in basic medium. The Ce2O3.CNT NCs were examined using FTIR, UV/Vis, Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), X-ray electron dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). A selective 2-nitrophenol (2-NP) sensor was developed by fabricating a thin-layer of NCs onto a flat glassy carbon electrode (GCE, surface area = 0.0316 cm2). Higher sensitivity including linear dynamic range (LDR), long-term stability, and enhanced electrochemical performances towards 2-NP were achieved by a reliable current-voltage (I-V) method. The calibration curve was found linear (R2 = 0.9030) over a wide range of 2-NP concentration (100 pM ~ 100.0 mM). Limit of detection (LOD) and sensor sensitivity were calculated based on noise to signal ratio (~3N/S) as 60 ± 0.02 pM and 1.6×10−3 μAμM-1cm-2 respectively. The Ce2O3.CNT NCs synthesized by a wet-chemical process is an excellent way of establishing nanomaterial decorated carbon materials for chemical sensor development in favor of detecting hazardous compounds in health-care and environmental fields at broad-scales. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed chemical sensors can be applied and utilized in effectively for the selective detection of toxic 2-NP component in environmental real samples with acceptable and reasonable results.

Abstract
Fluorescent β-cyclodextrin vesicles (β-CDV) that display host cavities available for host-guest interactions at the vesicle surface were prepared by incorporation of the hydrophobic spirobifluorene-based dye 1 into the membrane of unilamellar vesicles. Fluorescence quenching of dye 1 was observed in the presence of different quenchers. Methyl viologen 2 does not quench dye 1 because it does not bind to β-CDV. 4-Nitrophenol 3 and 4-nitrophenol covalently connected to adamantane 4 quench the fluorescence of dye 1 in neutral solution, but by different mechanisms according to lifetime measurements. The quenching efficiency of 3 is pH dependent due to the presence of the phenolate form. Competition experiments with excess host and guest showed that 3 is likely to diffuse in and out of the membrane, while 4 forms an inclusion complex with β-CDV leading to close contact and efficient quenching. Our findings confirm that this dynamic supramolecular system is a versatile model to investigate quenching and recognition processes in bilayer membranes.

Abstract
A poly(methylene blue)-modified glassy carbon electrode (PMB/GCE) was fabricated by electropolymerisation of methylene blue on a GCE and further utilized to investigate the electrochemical determination of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) by cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry and chronocoulometry. The morphology of the PMB on GCE was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). An oxidation peak of 4-NP at the PMB modified electrode was observed at 0.28 V, and in the case of bare GCE, no oxidation peak was observed, which indicates that PMB/GCE exhibits a remarkable effect on the electrochemical determination of 4-NP. Due to this remarkable effect of PMB/GCE, a sensitive and simple electrochemical method was proposed for the determination of 4-NP. The effect of the scan rate and pH was investigated to determine the optimum conditions at which the PMB/GCE exhibits a higher sensitivity with a lower detection limit. Moreover, kinetic parameters such as the electron transfer number, proton transfer number and standard heterogeneous rate constant were calculated. Under optimum conditions, the oxidation current of 4-NP is proportional to its concentration in the range of 15-250 nM with a correlation coefficient of 0.9963. The detection limit was found to be 90 nM (S/N = 3). The proposed method based on PMB/GCE is simple, easy and cost effective. To further confirm its possible application, the proposed method was successfully used for the determination of 4-NP in real water samples with recoveries ranging from 97% to 101.6%. The interference due to sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc, iron, sulphate, carbonate, chloride, nitrate and phosphate was found to be almost negligible.
