Abstract
The metalloporphyrin ligand bearing incorporated anion-exchanger fragment, 5-[4-(3-trimethylammonium)propyloxyphenyl]-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrinate of Co(II) chloride, CoTPP-N, has been tested as anion-selective ionophore in PVC-based solvent polymeric membrane sensors. A plausible sensor working mechanism includes the axial coordination of the target anion on ionophore metal center followed by the formed complex aggregation with the second ionophore molecule through positively charged anion-exchanger fragment. The UV-visible spectroscopic studies in solution have revealed that the analyte concentration increase induces the J-type porphyrin aggregation. Polymeric membranes doped with CoTPP-N showed close to the theoretical Nernstian response toward nitrite ion, preferably coordinated by the ionophore, and were dependent on the presence of additional membrane-active components (lipophilic ionic sites and ionophore) in the membrane phase. The resulting selectivity was a subject of specific interaction and/or steric factors. Moreover, it was demonstrated theoretically and confirmed experimentally that the selection of a proper ratio of ionophore and anionic additive can optimize the sensor selectivity and lifetime.

Abstract
Novel carbonate-selective potentiometric sensors based on 5,10,15-tris(4-aminophenyl)-20-phenyl porphyrinates of Cu(II) and Co(II) have been developed. Ionophore functioning mechanism and possible source of carbonate sensitivity have been evolved. Potentiometric properties of Co(II)- and Cu(II)TATPP-based sensors were compared with common carbonate-ISEs containing trifluoroacetophenone derivatives. The analytical utility of newly developed sensors has been demonstrated by measuring the bicarbonate content in human blood plasma.

Abstract
The paper gives a review of publications on polymers with conjugated matrices (PPy, PTh, PAni, hydrocarbon or mixed chains...) which incorporate metallocene complexes (Fe, Ru, Co; Ni, Ti, Zr, Ta) with two cyclopentadienyl ligands (Cp) and their derivatives, in particular with methylated cyclopentadienyl rings (Cp*), as well as hemi-metallocene complexes (Fe, Ru, Co, Mn), as pendant groups or inside the principal chain (part B). The information on related short-chain systems, monomers and oligomers, is also included. In part A, a brief overview of various conjugated polymer materials is presented, with their classification in accordance with the conductivity mechanism (ionic, electronic or mixed conductors) or with the structural type (linear-chain organic or mixed polymers, derivatization, metallopolymers, multi-dimensional structures, alternating and block copolymers with organic or mixed units, hybrid materials with a mixture of conjugated and inert polymers, polymers inside a solid matrix, conjugated polymers with incorporated nanoelements of transition metals, carbon, semiconductors etc.

Abstract
A novel methodology for preparation of linear oligopyrroles is presented. Synthetic protocol uses water as a solvent for acid catalysed condensation of an aldehyde or ketone with unsubstituted pyrrole. While the most procedures for the above-mentioned compounds are performed in organic solvents, or large excess of pyrrole (used as solvent), we present here a novel, mild and efficient procedure for selective preparation of linear oligopyrroles in aqueous environment. Preparation of dipyrromethanes 3 and tripyrromethanes 4 was optimised by varying the molar ratio and concentrations of starting compounds (aldehyde to pyrrole) and acid catalyst. The high initial concentration of aldehyde and pyrrole leads to the preferential formation of 3, where the driving force for the product formation is precipitation of 3 from water solution; the reaction proceeds at room temperature within a couple of minutes in excellent yields. On the other hand, low concentration of starting compounds led to preferential formation of tripyrromethanes 4. Formation of 3 and 4 can also be controlled by the initial ratio of aldehyde and pyrrole, where generally the ratios over 1:6 gave mostly 3. Application of this synthetic protocol for ketones revealed that only 3 are formed, regardless of the ratio of starting compounds, which is interpreted as a result of lower reactivity of ketones in this particular condensation reaction.

Abstract
The possibility to detect and prospectively to characterize deposited organic layers directly on Spreeta sensors by Fourier transform Raman spectroscopy was studied. A special holder of sensors that enabled measurement of FT Raman spectra was developed. The effects of various angles of incidence of the laser beam on the sensor surface were studied with respect to the intensity of Raman spectra and to the risks of artifacts. No effect of measurement of FT Raman spectra on SPR functionality of sensors was proven. The key role of the surface morphology of the sensing gold layer on repeatability of SPR curves and the possibility to check the surface by optical microscopy was demonstrated.

Abstract
It has been demonstrated that a glass-like silicone ladder-type polymer permits one to homogeneously incorporate high amounts of ionophores into the covalently-bonded double chain structure. Furthermore, by making use of this feature, we have successfully fabricated an iodide ion-sensitive field-effect transistor based on two kinds of ionophores and silicone ladder polymer matrix. As ionophores, 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphyrin and dimethyloctadecyl-3-trimethoxylsilylpropylammonium chloride were homogeneously incorporated into the matrix. The ion-sensitive field-effect transistor showed a linear potential response ranging in the I- concentration between 1.0 x 10(-5) and 1.0 x 10(-1) M. The selectivity coefficients for I- towards interferences of ClO4- and NO3- were estimated to be Kpot(I-,ClO4-) approximately 6.2 x 10(-4) and Kpot(I-,No3-) approximately 4.9 x 10(-4). The matrix has proved to be so stable that the selectivity coefficients have not been altered over six months.

Abstract
Progress of modern analytical chemistry is closely related with advancement in other fields such as organic chemistry and biochemistry. Successful solution of current scientific problems is inconceivable without close cooperation of different chemical disciplines. As an example of such hot and very intricate theme research in the field of molecular recognition of biologically active compounds can serve, where numerous methods of analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry can suitably be utilized, elaborated and brought into consonance. This multidisciplinary overlap logically leads to the advent of new scientific fields with their own tools, methodologies and subjects of exploration - bioanalytical chemistry and nanotechnology. This review covers different aspects of analytical application of oligopyrrole macrocycles (mainly porphyrins and sapphyrins). These compounds are widely used in analytical chemistry due to their outstanding optical properties. In our contribution oligopyrrole macrocycles are considered as signaling and structural parts of chemical receptors and selectors in various applications. Introduction of different moieties into meso-position of macrocyclic rings allows to obtain e.g., sterically well-organized receptors for recognition of biologically important analytes, new chromatographic materials, and powerful tools in electrochemical research. Finally, future trends in the field are outlined briefly.
