Abstract
In this work, O- and N-N-bridging complexes of technetium (V), previously known only for rhenium, were obtained for the first time. Tc(V) complexes with pyridazine (pyd), 1,2,4-triazole (trz), 3,5-dimethylpyrazole (dmpz) and pyrimidine (pyr) were obtained. In three complexes [{TcOCl2}2(μ-O)(μ-pyd)2], [{TcOCl2}2(μ-O)(μ-trz)2]·Htrz·Cl and [{TcO(dmpz)4}(μ-O)(TcOCl4)] two technetium atoms are linked by a Tc-O-Tc bond, and in the first two, Tc atoms are additionally linked by a Tc-N-N-Tc bond through the nitrogen atoms of the aromatic rings. We determined the role of nitrogen atom position in the aromatic ring and the presence of substituents on the formation of such complexes. For the first time, a reaction mechanism for the formation of such complexes was proposed. This article details the crystal structures of four new compounds. The work describes in detail the coordination of Tc atoms in the obtained structures and the regularities of the formation of crystal packings. The spectroscopic properties of the obtained compounds and their mother solutions were studied. The decomposition temperatures of the described complexes were determined. An assumption was made about the oligomerization of three-bridged complexes based on the results of mass spectrometry. Through the analysis of non-valent interactions in the structures, π-stacking, halogen-π and CH-π interactions were found. An analysis of the Hirshfeld surface for [{TcOCl2}2(μ-O)(μ-pyd)2], [{TcOCl2}2(μ-O)(μ-trz)2] and their rhenium analogues showed that the main contribution to the crystalline packing is made by interactions of the type Hal···H/H···Hal (45.4-48.9%), H···H (10.2-15.8%), and O···H/H···O (9.4-16.5%).

Abstract
Equivalent amounts of ReOX(3)(OPPh(3))(Me(2)S) (where X = Cl, Br) and L-histidine (L-hisH) in acetonitrile yield ReOX(2)(L-his), in which the amino acid monoanion is N,N,O-tridentate. X-ray diffraction work on both compounds shows that the three donors occupy a face in a distorted octahedron and the carboxylate oxygen is coordinated trans to the Re=O bond. The 2:1 complex [ReO(L-his)(2)]I is obtained by reacting 2 equiv of L-histidine with ReO(2)I(PPh(3))(2) in methanol in the presence of NaOCH(3). (1)H NMR spectroscopy indicates that these complexes contain one N,N,O-tridentate histidine anion coordinated as above and one N,N-bidentate histidine anion, whose carboxylate group is free. By refluxing ReOX(2)(L-his) in methanol, the carboxylic groups esterify and two octahedral units condense into an oxo-bridged dinuclear complex [ReOX(2)(L-hisMe)](2)O containing N,N-bidentate histidine methyl ester. The O=Re-O-Re=O backbone is approximately linear, and the two ReOX(2)(L-hisMe) units are related by a 2-fold axis through the central oxygen. Crystals of [ReOBr(2)(L-hisMe)](2)O consist of an ordered phase containing two of the possible diastereoisomers in a 1:1 ratio. (1)H NMR spectra of these crystals include two sets of signals, consistent with the presence of two isomers with C(2) symmetry, and the spectra of the nonrecrystallized material confirm that these are the only two isomers formed.

Abstract
Three new X-ray structurally characterized Re(V)O complexes, ReO(MEG(3)H(2)) (10), ReClO(MAEG(2)H(3)) (11), and [ReO(MECG(2)H(2))](2) (12), were prepared from protected forms of three new ligands, mercaptoethyl-glycylglycylglycine (MEG(3)H(5)), mercaptoacetamide-ethyl-glycylglycine (MAEG(2)H(5)), and mercaptoethyl-carbamoylmethyl-glycylglycine (MECG(2)H(5)). (Subscript on H indicates the number of dissociable protons.) Mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG(3)H(5)) is the ligand precursor for the clinically used Tc-99m renal imaging agent. The new potentially N(3)S donor ligands have a glycylglycine carboxyl end as in MAG(3)H(5), but a secondary amine (sp(3) N) replaces one amide (sp(2) N) of MAG(3)H(5). ReO(MEG(3)H(2)) (10) is a typical five-coordinate pseudo-square-pyramidal complex with the oxo ligand at the apex and the trianionic form of MEG(3)H(5) coordinated in the basal plane via N(3)S. In the other complexes, the quadridentate ligand has N(2)OS ligation, with the carbonyl oxygen of the glycyl amide group coordinated trans to the oxo ligand. This unusual ligation mode, which is facilitated by the preferred endo configuration of the ligated glycyl sp(3) N, leaves a vacant basal coordination site. In 11, the chloro ligand completes the equatorial plane, whereas, in 12, a glycine carboxylate oxygen of the ligand on the partner Re completes the equatorial plane. Both complexes thus possess an unexpected pseudo-octahedral geometry. For 10, 11, and 12, the (1)H NMR spectra, monitored from high to low pH, exhibited changes only when the pH was lowered below 6. This finding indicates that at physiological pH these complexes possess the desirable characteristic of existing as one monomeric species having only one ionization state, with the coordinated sp(3) N deprotonated. Below pH 6 and above pH approximately 4, changes in the (1)H NMR shifts indicate that this sp(3) N has become protonated. Thus, the N(3)S ligands in all three complexes exhibit normal coordination above pH approximately 4. However, X-ray data for 11 and 12 and some NMR evidence for 11 indicate that the ligands of the two complexes rearrange at low pH (<3). The striking differences between the solution- and solid-state structures reinforce the caveat that solution structural studies conducted at physiological pH are necessary in order to gain insight into the nature of radiopharmaceuticals.

Abstract
We are interested in identifying mononuclear cationic [M(V)=O]3+ (M = Tc, Re) complexes for radiopharmaceutical applications. The open-chain ligand, 1,4,8,11-tetraazaundecane-5,7-dione-(dioxo-tetH6) with two amine and two amide donors, was selected for investigation since the literature led us to expect that a five-coordinate [Re(V)=O(dioxo-tetH4)]+ cation would dominate. Instead, the neutral mu-oxo bridged dinuclear complex, Re2O3(dioxo-tetH4)2 (1), and a salt of the six-coordinate mononuclear cation, [ReO(H2O)(dioxo-tetH4)]+ (2), were isolated; the structure of each was determined by X-ray crystallography. The cation (2) is unusual because it has a trans-oxo/aqua core. Such aqua compounds are rarely isolated, and the Re-OH2 distance is relatively short (2.185 A). The cation has two pKa values, 4.1 and 8.7, determined with visible spectroscopy. Since the Re-OH2 bond is short, the coordinated water is likely to be acidic. Thus the two pKa's are assigned to the stepwise deprotonation of the water ligand to give a trans-oxo/hydroxo neutral form and a trans-dioxo anion. Although 1 was the first product isolated following ligand exchange of ReOCl3(Me2S)(OPPh3) with dioxo-tetH6 under neutral conditions, it probably formed from the hydroxo mononuclear complex. Under concentrated conditions (approximately 300 mM) the dinuclear complex deposited from solution, but the 1H NMR spectra of 2 (approximately 20 mM) were consistent with the presence of only monomeric forms in D2O, pH 3-12. 1H NMR experiments demonstrated that in DMSO-d6 2 converts to 1 upon addition of base, consistent with the proposal that two units of the hydroxo monomer condense to give the dinuclear form. In addition, all spectra of pure 1 dissolved in DMSO-d6 included extra low intensity signals that were characteristic of the monomer. Thus, although 1 is favored over the neutral monomer in DMSO-d6, the two complexes exist as a mixture of equilibrating forms. Our results do not support the previous findings for the Re(V) complex with a macrocyclic diamine-diamide ligand related to dioxo-tetH6. The data indicate that the ability of an amido group to donate electron density to a Re(V) center is moderately greater than the donating ability of a neutral amine group.

Abstract
N,N'-Dimethylbiimidazole and bipyridine (N-N) react with ReOCl3(OPPh3)(Me2S) to give mer-ReOCl3(N-N) compounds. Nonmethylated biimidazole forms a trans-O,O [ReOCl2(OPPh3)(biimH2)]+ cation, which is tightly associated with the Cl- counterion via N-H...Cl- hydrogen bonding. Hydrolysis of ReOCl3(biimMe2) in wet acetone (5% water) leads to the linear oxo-bridged dinuclear species [(OReCl2(biimMe2)2(mu-O)] containing chelated biimMe2. Acetone solutions containing only 1% water yield the bent oxo-bridged dinuclear species [(OReCl2)2(mu-O)(mu-biimMe2)2], where each Re center retains the ReO2Cl2N2 coordination but the biimMe2 ligands are bridging. The linear oxo-bridged [(OReCl2(biimH2)2(mu-O)] complex obtained with nonmethylated biimidazole includes two Cl- ions held via N-H...Cl- hydrogen bonds, leading to a dianionic [(OReCl2(biimH2...Cl)2(mu-O)]2- unit in the crystals of the PPh4+ salt. The compounds are characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopies, and the structures of [ReOCl2(OPPh3)(biimH2)]Cl, [(OReCl2(biimH2)2(mu-O)](PPh4Cl)(2).2H2O, and [(OReCl2)2(mu-O)(mu-biimMe2)2].acetone are determined by X-ray diffraction.
