Abstract
Two Ag(I)-based metal-organic compounds have been synthesized exploiting 4,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)pyrimidine (L). The reaction of this ligand with AgNO3 and AgBF4 in acetonitrile produces dinuclear complex, [Ag2L2(MeCN)2(NO3)2] (1) and 1D coordination polymer, [Ag2L(MeCN)3]n(BF4)2n (2), respectively. In complex 1, µ2-P,P′-bridging coordination pattern of the ligand L is observed, whereas its µ4-P,N,N′,P′-coordination mode appears in 2. Both compounds exhibit pronounced thermochromic luminescence expressed by reversible changing of the emission chromaticity from a yellow at 300 K to an orange at 77 K. At room temperature, the emission lifetimes of 1 and 2 are 15.5 and 9.4 µs, the quantum efficiency being 18 and 56%, respectively. On account of temperature-dependent experimental data, the phenomenon was tentatively ascribed to alteration of the emission nature from thermally activated delayed fluorescence at 300 K to phosphoresce at 77 K.

Abstract
Cu(I), Ag(I), and Au(I) complexes of monophosphine or bisphosphine ligands based on the 3,3,4,4,5,5-hexafluorocyclopentene skeleton were synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The electron-withdrawing nature of these polyfluorinated phosphines was experimentally revealed via UV/vis absorption studies and crystal structure analysis. Successful catalytic application of the Au(I) complex for alkyne hydration reactions was investigated.

Abstract
The previously synthesised Schiff-base ligands 2-(2-Ph(2)PC(6)H(4)N[double bond, length as m-dash]CH)-R'-C(6)H(3)OH (R'= 3-OCH(3), HL(1); 5-OCH(3), HL(2); 5-Br, HL(3); 5-Cl, HL(4)) were prepared by a faster, more efficient route involving a microwave assisted co-condensation of 2-(diphenylphosphino)aniline with the appropriate substituted salicylaldehyde. HL(1-4) react directly with M(II)Cl(2)(M = Pd, Pt) or Pt(II)I(2)(cod) affording neutral square-planar complexes of general formula [M(II)Cl(eta(3)-L(1-4))](M = Pd, Pt, 1-8) and [Pt(II)I(eta(3)-L(1-4))](M = Pd, Pt, 9-12). Reaction of complexes 1-4 with the triarylphosphines PR(3)(R = Ph, p-tolyl) gave the novel ionic complexes [Pd(II)(PR(3))(eta(3)-L(1-4))]ClO(4)(13-20). Substituted platinum complexes of the type [Pt(II)(PR(3))(eta(3)-L(1-4))]ClO(4)(R = P(CH(2)CH(2)CN)(3)21-24) and [Pt(II)(P(p-tolyl)(3))(eta(3)-L(3,4))]ClO(4)( 25 and 26 ) were synthesised from the appropriate [Pt(II)Cl(eta(3)-L(1-4))] complex (5-8) and PR(3). The complexes are characterised by microanalytical and spectroscopic techniques. The crystal structures of 3, 6, 10, 15, 20 and 26 were determined and revealed the metal to be in a square-planar four-coordinate environment containing a planar tridentate ligand with an O,N,P donor set together with one further atom which is trans to the central nitrogen atom.

Abstract
The coordination chemistry of silver(I) with the nitrogen-bridged ligands (C(6)H(5))(2)PN(R)P(C(6)H(5))(2) [R = H (dppa); R = CH(3) (dppma)] has been investigated by (31)P NMR and electrospray mass spectrometry (ESMS). Species observed by (31)P NMR include Ag(2)(mu-dppa)(2+), Ag(2)(mu-dppa)(2)(2+), Ag(2)(mu-dppa)(3)(2+), Ag(2)(mu-dppma)(2+), Ag(2)(mu-dppma)(2)(2+), and Ag(eta(2)-dppma)(2)(+). Species observed by ESMS at low cone voltages were Ag(2)(dppa)(2)(2+), Ag(2)(dppa)(3)(2+), Ag(2)(dppma)(2)(2+), and Ag(dppma)(2)(+). (C(6)H(5))(2)PN(CH(3))P(C(6)H(5))(2) showed a strong tendency to chelate, while (C(6)H(5))(2)PN(H)P(C(6)H(5))(2) preferred to bridge. Differences in the bridging versus chelating behavior of the ligands are assigned to the Thorpe-Ingold effect, where the methyl group on nitrogen sterically interacts with the phenyl groups on phosphorus. The crystal structure of the three-coordinate dinuclear silver(I) complex (Ag(2)[(C(6)H(5))(2)PN(H)P(C(6)H(5))(2)](3))(BF(4))(2) has been determined. Bond distances include Ag-Ag = 2.812(1) A, Ag(1)-P(av) = 2.492(3) A, and Ag(2)-P(av) = 2.509(3) A. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cc at 294 K, with a = 18.102(4)(o), Z = 4, V = 7261(3) A(3), R = 0.0503, and R(W) = 0.0670.

Abstract
The bridging phosphine ligand 2,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)pyridine (L) was used to synthesize a new, neutral organometallic ligand [Fe(CO)(4)](2)(micro-L) 1, which exhibits eclipsed and staggered conformations in two crystalline forms. This Fe,N,Fe-tridentate ligand reacts with silver perchlorate to form the hetero-trinuclear complex [[Fe(CO)(4)](2)Ag(micro-L)](ClO(4)) 2, in which the central silver(I) atom bridges a pair of iron(0) atoms at Fe-Ag distances of 2.627(3) and 2.652(3) A; the Fe-Ag-Fe angle is 170.98(9) degrees. The reaction of 1 with mercury(II) chloride gives [Fe(CO)(4)](2)Hg(2)Cl(4)(micro-L), 3. The ligand also reacts with mercury(II) acetate to form a hetero-octanuclear complex [[Fe(CO)(3)Hg](2)(micro-L)](2) 4 and a novel hetero-heptanuclear complex Fe(3)(CO)(8)Hg(4)(micro-L)(2)(MeCO(2))(2) 5. Complex 4 displays a square metallic core in which the iron and mercury atoms occupy the corners and the centers of the edges, respectively. The metal atoms in 5 are linked to form a kinky line with bends at the iron atoms.

Abstract
Two water-soluble, silver(I) complexes showing a wide spectrum of effective antibacterial and antifungal activities, i.e., ([Ag(Hhis)].0.2EtOH)2 (1; H2his = L-histidine) and [Ag(Hpyrrld)]2 (3; H2pyrrld = (S)-(-)-2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid) were prepared. In aqueous solution 1 and 3 were present as dimers, whereas in the solid state they were polymers. Crystallization of 1 by slow evaporation and/or vapor diffusion gave water-insoluble crystals of [Ag(Hhis)]n (2) showing modest antimicrobial activities. The complex 1 in the solid state is a polymer formed by intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions between dimeric [Ag(Hhis)]2 cores, while 2 is a different polymer without a core complex. X-ray crystallography revealed that 2 was a left-handed helical polymer consisting of a bent, 2-coordinate silver(I) atom bonding to the Namino atom of one Hhis- ligand and the N pi atom of a different Hhis- ligand. Of particular note is the fact that Ocarboxyl atoms do not participate in the coordination. X-ray crystallography also revealed that 3 was a left-handed helical polymer formed by self-assembly of dimeric [Ag(Hpyrrld)]2 cores with an intramolecular metal(I)-metal(I) interaction (Ag-Ag distance, 2.9022(7) A). The FT-IR and the solid-state 13C and 15N NMR spectra showed that the dimeric core of 1 was formed through Ag-N bonds, while that of 3 was formed through Ag-O bonds. The molecular ions of 1 and 3 were detected by the positive-ion electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry. For 1-3, characterization by elemental analysis, TG/DTA, FT-IR, and variable-temperature solid-state 13C NMR and room-temperature 15N NMR measurements was performed, and for 1 and 3, that by solution molecular weight measurements and solution (109Ag, 1H, and 13C) NMR spectroscopies was also carried out. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of 1 and 3 were remarkable and comparable to those of the previous silver(I)-N-heterocycle complexes.
