Effect of N-substituents on protonation chemistry of trichlorophosphazenes

Tris(N-{bis-[meth-yl(phen-yl)amino]-phosphor-yl}benzene-sulfonamidato-κ2O,O')(1,10-phenanthroline-κ2N,N')lanthanum(III)

The asymmetric unit of [La(C20H21N3O3PS)3(C12H8N2)] is created by one LaIII ion, three deprotonated N-{bis-[meth-yl(phen-yl)amino]-phosphor-yl}benzene-sulfonamidate (L-) ligands and one 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) mol-ecule. Each LaIII ion is eight-coordinated (6O+2N) by three phosphoryl O atoms, three sulfonyl O atoms of three L- ligands and two N atoms of the chelating Phen ligand, leading to the formation of six- and five-membered metallacycles, respectively. The lanthanum coordination polyhedron has a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. 'Sandwich-like' intra-molecular π-π stacking inter-actions are observed between the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two benzene rings of two different L- ligands. The phenyl rings of L- that are not involved in the stacking inter-actions show minor positional disorder. Mol-ecules form layers parallel to the (010) plane due to weak C-H⋯O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds. Unidentified highly disordered solvate mol-ecules that occupy ca 400 Å3 large voids have been omitted from the refinement model.

{Dimeth-yl [(phenyl-sulfon-yl)amido-]phosphato-κ(2) O,O'}bis-(tri-phenylphosphane-κP)copper(I)

In the title complex, [Cu(C₈H₁₁NO₅PS)(C₁₈H₁₅P)₂], the Cu^I ion is coordinated by two tri­phenyl­phosphane mol­ecules and two O atoms of the chelating dimeth­yl(phenyl­sulfon­yl)amido­phosphate anion, generating a squashed CuO₂P₂ tetrahedron. In the six-membered chelate ring, the Cu, P and O atoms are almost coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.024 Å), with the N and S atoms displaced in the same direction, by 0.708 (5) and 0.429 (2) Å, respectively.

Stabilities of the Divalent Metal Ion Complexes of a Short-Chain Polyphosphate Anion and Its Imino Derivative

The stability constants of ML-type complexes of the two linear triphosphate ligand anion analogues triphosphate (\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ {\text{P}}_{ 3} {\text{O}}_{10}^{5 - } $$\end{document}P3O105-) and diimidotriphosphate (\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ {\text{P}}_{ 3} {\text{O}}_{ 8} ( {\text{NH}})_{2}^{5 - } $$\end{document}P3O8(NH)25-) were investigated thermodynamically using potentiometric titrations according to Schwarzenbach’s procedure. The stability constants of the ML-type complexes of different divalent metal ions with \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ {\text{P}}_{ 3} {\text{O}}_{ 8} ( {\text{NH}})_{2}^{5 - } $$\end{document}P3O8(NH)25- are larger than those of the corresponding complexes with \documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ {\text{P}}_{ 3} {\text{O}}_{10}^{5 - } $$\end{document}P3O105- because of the greater basicity of the imino group. The order of the stability constants for the ML-type complexes follows the Irving–Williams order, indicating that only non-bridging oxygen atoms are coordinated directly to the different metal ions in both ligands, and that the imino groups cannot participate in coordination to the metal ions. Monodentate complexes that are strongly coordinated with the ligands were therefore formed, whereas entropically stable bidentate complexes were formed in the complexation reactions of the Cu²⁺, Zn²⁺, Ni²⁺–\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ {\text{P}}_{ 3} {\text{O}}_{10}^{5 - } $$\end{document}P3O105- and Ca²⁺, Ba²⁺, Sr²⁺–\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$$ {\text{P}}_{ 3} {\text{O}}_{ 8} ( {\text{NH}})_{2}^{5 - } $$\end{document}P3O8(NH)25- systems. According to the HSAB concept, hard metal cations such as Ca²⁺, Ba²⁺ and Sr²⁺ should bind to the harder oxygen atoms rather than the softer nitrogen atoms of the imidopolyphosphate anions, preventing direct coordination to the imino nitrogen atom.

cis-Diaqua-bis-[dimethyl (phenyl-sulfonyl-imino)-phospho-nato]cobalt(II)

In the title diaqua­cobalt complex, [Co(C₈H₁₁NO₅PS)₂(H₂O)₂], the Co^II atom is surrounded by six O atoms belonging to the phosphoryl and sulfonyl groups of two deprotonated chelate ligands and two additional O atoms from water mol­ecules which are in cis positions with respect to one another. The coordination environment of cobalt can be described as a distorted octa­hedron. O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water and sulfonyl O atoms of neighboring mol­ecules form chains running parallel to [010]. Two methoxy groups attached to one phosphorus are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.6:0.4 ratio.

catena-Poly[neodymium(III)-bis-[μ-N-(dimorpholinophosphor-yl)benzene-sulfonamidato]-sodium(I)-bis-[μ-N-(dimorpholinophosphor-yl)benzene-sulfonamidato]]

The cubic crystal structure of the title compound, [NaNd(C₁₄H₂₁N₃O₅PS)₄]_n, is composed of one-dimensional polymeric chains propagating in [100], built up from [Nd(C₁₄H₂₁N₃O₅PS)₄]⁻ anions and sodium cations functioning as linkers. In the complex anion, the Nd³⁺ ion has an eightfold coordination environment formed by the sulfonyl and phosphoryl O atoms of four bidentate chelating N-(dimorpholinophosphor­yl)benzene­sulfonamidate ligands: the resulting NdO₈ polyhedron can be described as inter­mediate between dodeca­hedral and square anti­prismatic. The sodium ion adopts an NaO₄ tetra­hedral geometry arising from four monodentate benzene­sulfonamidate ligands. The resulting crystal structure is unusual because it contains substantial voids (800 ų per unit cell), within which there is no evidence of included solvent.
