Abstract
Hitherto unknown 3,3′-carbonyl-bis(chromones) 8, dimeric chromones bridged by a carbonyl group, were prepared by reaction of chromone-3-carboxylic acid chloride with 3-(dimethylamino)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2-propen-1-ones 9.

Abstract
The first total synthesis of the pyranoisoflavone kraussianone 1 (1) is described. The key steps involved the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction for the construction of the isoflavone core and the regioselective formation of the dimethylpyran scaffolds to the phloroglucinol (ring A) and resorcinol (ring B) moieties of kraussianone 1 (1). This route also provided access to the related isoflavones eriosemaone D (2) and genistein (3) via simple structural modifications.

Abstract
Aluminium amalgam – mediated reductive dimerisation of 3-methoxycarbonyl-4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran produced two sets of diastereomeric bichromones coupled through 2,2′ and 2,4′- positions; the latter set of diastereomers underwent diastereoconvergent dehydration to produce Z-3,3′-dimethoxycabonyl-3H-2,4′-bi[1-benzopyran-2-ylidene]-4-one.
